A suggestion, in order to facilitate removal of the radio unit and lessen the risk of damage to the front plate, instead of pulling it, like you show at 2m27s, go to the removal of the glove box, at 3m00s in, then put your hand in the well, on the left, and push the whole radio unit out front. This is much easier that way. Another thing, there's another product I've been using for now 11 years, an XCarLink, which has aux, 30 pin iPhone/iPod adapter and Bluetooth (optional) which would be more appropriate for iPhone users. Had to do a similar walkaround in my Ford Falcon to get a bluetooth module installed. Luckily the connector is easier to access, just under the steering wheel. Great video, will definitely be my first mod when I finally get an RX8

For anyone attempting something similar, I tried the Yatour but found it had a bad hum and buzzing noise at all times even when using FM. I ended up returning it and getting the GROM-BT3 and it was dramatically better in quality (it's bluetooth only out of the box though).

I just bought a FM-transmitter with Bluetooth connection to my phone. It cost less than €15 and I just plug it into the cigarette lighter plug. It lets me play music, make phonecalls and even lets me hear directions from Google Maps. It also has aux and MicroSd and USB. Just turn your radio on 87,5Mhz. and you're done! No cables used except if you wish to also charge your phone.

Hi, thanks for the video. It was great to have instructions. May I please ask a question ? After I installed the adaptor the sound works fine on bluetooth and aux cable but after about 15 seconds the EX mode always disappears from the screen and the music stops. When I listen to the radio everything is ok and it does not switch off. Have you had this problem at all ? I have tried with two other mobile phones using bluetooth and an aux cable and I always have the same problem. My version is 9.55 like yours.

I will add your controls stopped working because the front panel has 2 connectors on both sides that join to the main CD changer unit when you pushed it back in you actually connected those back up, nothing to do with the screws bro. There is also some contact pin right in the centre of the back of the main front panel which is pressure mounted against the stereo, its the worst design ever but hey what can we do. Also I reckon it is possible to plug in that white connector without removing the stereo, I managed the antenna plug from the side which is right next to it haha.

I now have the device installed. I elected to pull the cable connection from the port and pull in the YaTour device. I now have no access to the CD player but it also removed access to my satellite radio as well

@Driven By Madness I bought the Yatour Bluetooth adapter for my 2006 RX-8 almost two years ago & sadly still haven't had it Installed. I don't trust going to a third party - this is something my father could do as he's a whiz with rotaries BUT I have a right wheel drive (in Australia) AUTO transmission. I've watched your video dozens of times and feel *almost* confident to try installing it myself except that I can't find any examples of doing an install on an auto transmission. Yes of course manual is better but when you're literally given a full sport spec 06 RX-8, you don't complain! Also minor side note but now that most phones (mine anyway), don't come with the 3.5mm jack, does that remove a step if you purely want to connect the Bose stereo to my phone via Bluetooth? Thanks in anticipation that you see this!

Hi, I don't think that the install should be different l, except for the trim removal around the shift knob, but you can skip that, since you dont have AUX and just have the adapter in the glove box and connect to it through Bluetooth. Let me know if you have further questions on specific parts of the install that cause a dilemma and we will try to solve them.

@@megglesy Correct, because you're connecting the adapter to the radio, trough a wire. Once you take out the radio, the install is extremely easy, literally plug and play. I've ruoted the aux cable to my armrest, because i use aux, but if you use only bluetooth, you can skip this step. Adapter in glove box + wires that connects to the radio, that's all you need. Just make sure you have the compatible firmware. It's alright man, i'm just glad i helped someone build the courage do work on their car by themselves. Cheers!

Hi Driven by madness. My Rx8 the heater, blower temperature is bouncing around from hot to cold. I think its the wire in back of the control knob. Do I have to disassemble the radio to get to the wire? So annoying, especially that it's winter.

Sadly i did not get the bluetooth version, i got the usb, aux and SD card one... To be 100% sure you can ask the n a facebook group. But imo, bluetooth is Bluetooth, so either android or iphone should be the same...

I just installed mine. It worked until I turned the car off. When I turn the car on, the stereo will play music for 1 second. then the speakers will turn off. The stereo remains on but the speakers will turn off. Still haven’t figured it out. My version is 9.55 and it’s a 2005 Mazda rx8 shinka.

The CD option still works, but if you want to enter the Yatour adapter mode, you have to press the CD button again. Hope i understood your question correctly.

Hi dude, excellent tutorial as always. I've been considering Yatour for a while. Have you had any negative experiences with it yet? I've also looked at grom and connects2. Im finding a bug in android or the Bluetooth devices. Sometimes the volume is set to 50% when Bluetooth connects but cannot get that volume back to full even with the phone Vol. It looks more likely it's a Bluetooth issue. This device is great though. Having the option to use hard wired aux is definitely a fix for me until we can figure it out in XDA. Awesome as always though mate. Keep it up!

Hey man :) Never had an issue with it. Volume works from lower to max, like with the normal radio. I have a popup in my phone that blocks volume when connected to headphones or aux, but i just press ok, and it lets me go from 50% to 100% volume. ​@@estebansigala8232 maybe too late, but there are "aux to fm radio" adapters on amazon. you connect your phone, set a clear fm frequency and the adapter trasmits the audio through the car's radio antenna. sounds really weird but it works, but there are no interactive controls, besides local car volume

Check that you installed the back pin correctly and that the cable on the usb box is tightened. Also try disconnecting it and reconnecting it

Amir Santiago it works for any Rx-8. no matter the year or transmission all rx8s where built the same, some with auto or manual, and some with heated seats and some not. either way all rx8s are mostly the same :)

Check on ebay or amazon if they have a adapter compatible with the firmware you have. Alternatively, there are some Bluetooth adapters that you plug in your cigarette lighter that work with your radio and your phone.

I like this a lot but the only problem with my 2004 rx8 is that the bose system works only half the time and i get the popping noise from the speakers. so i will have to figure that out before i buy this

I think it's the speakers/amplifier and old wires. I will do a complete change on mine, as for me too, the Bose system work every now and then. Most of the time i hear just the front speakers or it shifts between rear and front

If you want to keep the Original radio sadly, no. But you can always install a double din screen radio. They have special adapters for the rx8 too :)

What do you mean by sirius radio? This is the only way to connect this adapter. Other variants and a double din adapter, where you can have a LCD radio or normal radio with storage :)

You should be able to install the SiriusXM app on you phone to replace the factory satellite radio, which may or may not come as a benefit. The wire to the satellite antennae that was mounted on my trunk lid eventually wore out due the the trunk being opened and closed so often, as well as rust from the antennae itself. I was able to relocate the antennae inside on the rear deck after snipping, stripping, and soldering the wire, but the reception has been diminished as a result. The phone app could eliminate the line-of-sight need, but introduce outage if you have poor cell service when traveling. I bought this adapter a couple weeks ago and attempted to install it just now, but found the port already in use from the factory satellite radio. I will likely unplug Sirius and try the phone app for awhile to see how it works.

Just to follow up: Trading factory satellite radio for bluetooth (or auxiliary cable) functionality seems to be a viable tradeoff for me. Also, I ended up putting the adapter in the "hidden" compartment. There is a half-round conduit that provides access to that space from the rear of the radio, so a bit of electrical tape to keep the cable in place didn't seem like too much effort.

So the only thing I gain from this is the ability to play music through Bluetooth but I have a feeling this isn't going to work so well with all the stuff I already have in the car from the factory. Anyone tried this on a series2 ? I would like to play music on Bluetooth instead of the aux cable (for those that don't know the factory aux causes a wonderful whistle noise other the speakers that grows with rpm)

What bluetooth plugin are you using for your phone, to plug in to the adapter?

JustinGLX the bluetooth is built in the adapter. Once you connect it to your radio, you turn on bluetooth on your phone, connect to the adapter via Bluetooth, and then play any some you like on the phone :)

JustinGLX thats a usb with songs on and you can play them on the radio

How do I know what firmware is compatible? Mine is 9.82 should I buy it or not.

10.1 and 9.81 are not compatible. I've heard that version 9.82 should be compatible. You can ask the seller for double confirmation :)
