Had a 1975..it ran and ran and ran even in Michigan winters...4 wheel disc brakes, rack and pinion steering , fuel injection and a 4 speed manual with a clutch that even a little old lady could not stall. Taught my children how to drive a stick and it was a pleasure. Think it cost about 5 grand..

Like Tom I owned a couple of Volvo wagons and a two Saab alternatives over the years. Defected to a KIA Sorento in 2012 when my wife was attracted to the higher driver's seating of an SUV as Seattle suburban traffic grew taller and taller each year. (Much like a missile race trying to match the height of surrounding traffic forced the issue.) I'd happily return to a wagon but the current Sorento is my wife's daily driver and she has the deciding vote in the family "road trip" vehicle. Loved the Volvo wagons but I recall a number of minor annoying issues that required service and maintenance over the years. Nothing major, just annoying minor glitches. Otherwise, the minimalist Scandinavian designs were a joy to behold and we never lacked for interior space.

You call it svelte? It’s the size of an Outback, with 30% less interior volume than an Outback. Have you seen its curb weight? It’s 4,200 lbs! It’s anything, but “svelte”. The 2020 Outback Onyx weighs 3,884lbs! Almost 400lbs less!
@DrivenCarReviews4 жыл бұрын
Svelte, as in design, . This would compare with the Outback Touring, so the Volvo is 100 pounds heavier. 30% less interior volume? The passenger compartment is nearly the same size (the Volvo looses a couple inches of rear legroom). I'l assume you meant cargo area, that's smaller by about 25% (the Subaru's roof is higher by 4 inches if I remember). Nice that the Subie has a little more room but for those with the funds, the whole of the Volvo is a step or two higher.
@afcgeo8824 жыл бұрын
Driven Car Reviews I compared the interior volume figures behind the first rows and behind the second rows to compare the interior volumes where it really counts in a wagon. Length isn’t volume. Behind the first row of seats, the Volvo has just 60% of volume that the Outback has. Oh and the Subaru destroys it in the front seats too. Outback front leg room: 42.8” V60 front leg room: 42.3” Outback front head room 40.1” V60 front head room 37.4” Outback front shoulder room 58.1” V60 front shoulder room 56.1” The Outback’s larger in every category except the exterior dimensions and weight.
