I recently ran a school bus and was ticketed by a state trooper. The bus was stopped on the other side of a multi lane road here in NY and the law requires all traffic to stop in NY. The truth is: I did not see the big yellow school bus with flashing lights. So why didn’t I? Was I distracted ? Was I using the cell phone? Was I drunk ? The answer is no. I was not guilty of any of those things. However, after a long argument with my family at home, I decided to go to the pharmacy and while driving my mind wandered away ! During simulated driving, people's minds tend to wander upwards of 70% of the time, researchers report. Source: Frontiers. Scientists investigated potentially dangerous day-dreaming in drivers, and found that it is very common, and produces distinctive brain activity. The real danger with school busses is not that people are not stopping for the bus, but instead the buses are unloading children on busy road ways. It is pathetic to expect drivers to drive like robots on the road.

About hood high and they’ll stop or swerve even further left to go around, which can bring a whole other set of fines consequences. Beautiful new technology for buses and tickets but it's easy to blame drivers. The one and only technology that remains fundamental is that the schools or parents give a basic learning (schoolworks, real crash videos) to the kids (4 to 19 yo) about how to cross a street safely ; not how to use a tablet and internet in the classroom or using phone in the middle of the street. It's so weird I can not see any campagns of these basic elements... 2020 years of human evolution and this is what we get...
@mariasandrovich4145 жыл бұрын
I agree, we don't se such silly rules in Europe. Our buses drop off the children on the sidewalk part of the road and not on the road, and if they want to cross the road they can walk to the crosswalk and cross legally.

Because kids always listen and follow rules right? I expect the adults to be responsible. Driving is a privilege not a right. Children do what they’re supposed to and still get hit by a reckless speeder.
Bus riding students are taught to watch the driver for a raised static hand sign, rush back if the horn is honked. Some districts/states the driver even gets off the bus with a handheld stop sign and walks them across-and drivers and children are still hit. Beautiful tech should be one political party stopping their effort to disparage against cops, against laws, to just stop spreading their ROT in AMERICA.
