So satisfying. Why do you spray water before Sealcoating?

Thank you! We spray to cool down the surface temperature of the asphalt to better receive the sealing material. When it's super hot outside, the pavement is even hotter and will "flash" the water and other materials out of the sealer before we have time to work it in.

In Michigan we do not walk on the wet seal when putting it down in parking lots or driveways… If you go back a year later, you’ll see all your foot prints, because the weight of your body presses the seal into the asphalt more than the brush

We've found that to be the case with different types of boots we wear. We've had the best luck with boots that are a bit raised on the bottom vs flat soles. No issues thus far as long as we jump back quick enough to go back over the footprints and don't leave any behind!

why spray the pavement with water if your sealer has a percentage of water mixed in? assuming youre using a.e

we use coal tar. fogging the pavement drops it from 140ish to 80 - 90ish. Makes the sealer workable, prevents flashing of the clay / water in the mix and prevents brush marks.

What do you guys put over the freshly sealed cracks?

Sorry I missed this! It's fine grit shotblasting sand called Black Beauty. We get it at tractor supply in the red bag.
