What an absolutely wonderful video of your tour Andrew. I would love to do that journey down to the Algarve, and what a wonderful site to finish on. I love it and being a lone motorhomer I do like the look of the roads. It was nice to see Dougal mixing with the locals! For your information, lost weekends caravan, that "...last place you [Andrew] stayed at including the Caravan wash bay" is in the Algarve, which is in Portugal, not Spain; and it has been so, since the mid-thirteenth century. How extraordinary that in this day and age there are people out there who still think that Portugal -- a country in existence as an independent nation since early twelfth century -- is in Spain!

Hello Andrew, would you have some guides or service providers offering filters to know if a given place bring water and electricity supply, sewage disposal (dishwasher, washing machine used in the motorhome). I always try to see that in your videos but apparently the camping places in which you go don't offer these kind of resources. Also knowing if there is enough space for a camping-car (motorhome) and its toys hauler would be a must to know too. On my side i target a motorhome length of 7,8m and trail a toy hauler of 5,5m length, i would be interested by your opinion/advices/infos on this subject related to these places (the one you know + the ones that bring the needed resources).
@andrewjditton5 жыл бұрын
Hello, I'm not too sure I understand your question. If you mean 'do I have a dishwasher or washing machine in the caravan?' the answer is no. I wash my dishes my hand, and if I am on a site with no laundry, I wash my clothes by hand too. Or I go to a launderette if I need to wash bedding.
@SwallCloud5 жыл бұрын
@@andrewjditton Oh sorry, no, i meant, for the ones who have a dishwasher, a washing machine in their motorhome, it would greatly useful to know the informations mentioned. I think your experience and knowledge of the places you practised whatever the country would help on these questions.

I wish you would promote the UK like this. Don't think I have ever seen you go to the West Country where there are miles and miles of beautiful sandy beaches, glorious sunsets and Cornwall is very picturesque. North Devon has beaches several miles long and places like Valley of the Rocks are amazing. There are so many places in the UK that are worthy of promoting and visiting.
@andrewjditton6 жыл бұрын
Dear Irene, have you actually seen any of my other videos over the past few years? The huge majority are in the UK. Granted, I have not been to the West Country since 2012. That's because the last time I went, I was run off the road and into a hedge by a nasty old woman who gave the Airstream - not me, the Airstream - the finger as it was left scratched and lying in the bushes. I was charged £7.60 for a baked potato in an average cafe. I saw bumper stickers saying "If it's called the Tourist Season, why can't we shoot them?' I was forced to reverse the Airstream down a single track road by a bloody-minded car driver who wouldn't reverse, then the cars piled up behind him. Petrol stations openly ripped off tourists by declaring cheaper fuel for locals. Now compare that to the Western Isles of Scotland, or Portugal, where people put themselves out to make me feel welcome. The only reason I would go back to Cornwall is to give it another chance, but Scotland wins out every time because I KNOW I will be treat with respect and kindness, not contempt and hostility.
@irenepotter27096 жыл бұрын
@@andrewjditton Well Andrew I never expected a reply like that. I have been watching your videos for a year or two so no I haven't seen any that are six years old and I have lived in Devon since 1984 and NEVER met or seen the kind of behaviour you talk about. Perhaps it was because you was towing a caravan down narrow lanes and the locals were fed up with the inconvenience of holiday makers. You don't say where you actually went. We lived near Tiverton for 24 years and still weren't accepted as locals! I have loved watching your trips to Scotland and Europe but there are so many parts of England, Wales and even Ireland with caravan sites that viewers would like your opinion on because not everyone can travel abroad. I was just pointing out the lovely beaches and places down in the West which I thought perhaps you didn't know about.
@andrewjditton6 жыл бұрын
Irene Potter Oh well, maybe I was unlucky, but this is what happened. I just wanted to try and explain why I’m not in any huge rush to return. I am aware that a lot of the ‘problem’ was NOT the local folk but the Grockles who seem to ruin every lovely place with their empty second homes and bringing their rude ways with them when they visit. But you are right of course - I’ve enjoyed some beautiful beaches and I do like North Devon, as I guess that is the most unspoilt as you have to make a slight effort to get there. I’ll have to return at some point - I’m all for giving places another chance. But to say I don’t support the U.K. is a massively unfair sweeping judgement.

@@andrewjditton I live South Molton, North Devon and its a great place to live and visit. Not far to Exmoor and the Beaches. The North Devon link road can be very busy in the summer but once off that road it can be very quiet as long as you avoid the tourist hot spots. We like to go to Totnes (South Devon) Steamer Quay site for short breaks. Getting to some of the site can be a bit challenging, you have to do your home work first as Sat nav's just don't work or you will end up down a narrow lane.
