Just finished registering my Maverick Air 2 after having taken your two free courses. Thank you for making all of your videos it's a lot to take in but in time I should get better I'm 62 and it's my first Drone. Actually I've owned it since 2020 and never opened it until now, I know it's sounds hard to believe, but its because I do a lot of different activities and couldn't find the time to set it all up and after seeing your videos I took time to finally open it. Quick update from recent experience registering -- Unless someone has called it out here already, I answered Yes to Remote ID for my DJI Air 2S since it has the capability and found that in that case the form is looking for the Remote ID Serial Number (instead of the remote controller serial number) further down in the DJI Fly About info. Thanks for all of the video's here and at the web site. They are tremendously helpful in learning how to fly right and not make mistakes.

Greg, I am confused. I have one number aircraft serial number for my mini2 from the DJI care refresh ( with the same number in the battery compartment ) and then there is a different number listed in the app for flight controller serial number. Which one should i use for the 107 registration?

I believe he said in the video you keep your registration number but also if I remember correctly from other things I have read when you go commercial (Part 107) each aircraft has to have its own unique number so if you have more than one then the rest would be registered by serial number to get their own registration number.

I registered my mavic2 zoom last year with the FAA, put my number on my drone but since got my pt 107. Do I use both numbers or take off registration number for recreational and just use new registration number for pt 107?

A couple of quick questions- I registered my 2 units under recreation flyer, same number- now completing my Part 107 course, so I registered one under part 107 today, although I have not yet taken test, received drone specific number for that one, "inventory" on FAA dashboard has been updated. When I soon re-register the other drone under 107 will the current number change? Also, applied for the free registration stickers on web site (same number for both units) a couple of weeks ago, haven’t received email confirmation or stickers yet, but when I tried to order the set for the new 107 number today was unable to, “Only one entry is allowed. Multiple submissions are disabled for this form.” Am I not able to get a 2nd number/set of stickers? Thanks, enjoying the course.

If my drone weighs less than 250g, but I add prop guards on and a light, now is it required to be registered? In addition if it doesn’t have remote Id, what that law goes into effect, if my add ons make it weigh more, will it be in violation for that? For recreational flying.

You can register under Part 107 for now, it will cover you for rec flying too.

@@PilotInstitute Are you no longer providing free printed labels? I have tried to submit for them several times using different email address and no matter which way I try. After I press the submit button I get a message that says "Sorry Only one entry is allowed. Multiple submissions are disabled for this form" I got this message the very first time I tried. I have tried 3 times with different emails in case there was something wrong with my email. This is my first drone and I have never submitted a request for the free labels that you offer before. I just registered my first drone on the FAA website yesterday and after that I requested the free labels on your website. I received this "Sorry" message the first time and each time after that. After all of this I see that you are only offering them for like 10K requests. Have you reached this number? If so maybe you can remove the option to request them so people will know you are not doing them anymore.

I'm getting mixed information some parts of the FAA website state that both part 107 & recreational pilots have to register, other information states that if your drone is under 250 grams you don't have to register. which is it? Yes, under recreational registration, only one registration number ($5.00 for 3 years) is to be placed on all of your UAS/UAV that are over .55 lb.

No need for a new registration. Think about it as your car, someone registers it and then others can drive it.

YEs you will re-register it under part 107. If you want to save $5, just register now under part 107, you can still fly under recreational rules with the 107 registration.

I do not believe it works that way. Each drone can only have one active registration. You are not able to flip back and forth between "just for fun" and commercial. My advice to the poster is to register it for commercial 107 use, but do not apply the registration number to the aircraft until you are certified to fly under 107. Or just wait until you pass the test and then register it.

So I have a question on entering the registration into the software on my Parrot ANAFI under the DRI section. It asks to insert my registration number and associated key which I have no idea what the associated key means and cannot find anything about this anywhere on the FAA drone site. Also if i try to enter the registration number the software tells me it needs to be 16 digits long, the number from the FAA is not 16 digits long. So How do I go about completing this? Same way as you register others. There's a homebuilt option in the list when you register. No Manufacturer needed.

Yup - if it isn't "just for fun", you need to be a certified UAC operator. Assuming you live in the USA that is.
