As someone who's been just doing the minor stuff on his '72 1.7, this is a hurdle I'm planning to cross in the new year for more fundamental repairs and upgrades. It's SUPER helpful to see how to do this when post lifts just aren't in the cards

Once I replaced all of my shift bushings, it was a new car. I’ve restored two 914’s in my lifetime. I’ve owned three. Two 73’s and a 74. I have loved them since my teens and I am now 52 and unfortunately disabled or I’d be building one right now. They have gotten so expensive as of late. What I would give to have just one of the two cars I restored at the prices they are going for. I’m watching your entire build so I’m very interested to see where you end up. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks! Good to know about the shift bushings. I'm planning to replace as many wear items as I can. Fully restored 914's go for 2x what they did not 5 years ago, it's nuts. There are still many out there needing to be rescued for good deals though. I couldn't buy a used ATV for what I paid for mine. :D Thanks for following along!
