@aninafouche7 ай бұрын
I don't think she's a narcissist, just a very hurt and neglected child.
@WWETheDeadManDTF7 ай бұрын
Emotional trauma and neglect during childhood are root causes of narcissistic personality disorder. The child feels inadequate and worthless, wich leads it to develop a persona/facade of unusually high sense of self worth, superiority and confidence, in order to cope and compensate. Behind this facade, the core remains vulnerable, making the narcissist unable to handle any form of criticism. Criticism is percieved as an attack aginst the facade of perfection and leads to vicious resistance. So its safe to say, every narcissist is hurt child at core. But ofcourse this doesnt conclude every neglected or traumatised child will develop narcissistic pd. Some develop perfectly healthy, some may develop schizoid pd, depression etc.
@princevimbai16 ай бұрын
@@aninafouche I think when it comes to the spoilt kids on Dr. Phil she seems the mildest. Yes, sure she's really spoilt and used to a lifestyle that's out of touch for a lot of people (myself included lol - if my parents offered me a C-class I'd be amazed), but she doesn't seem to far gone. Like she doesn't seem like a "bad kid" if you get what I mean. I feel like if her mum put in the effort into reparenting her it wouldn't take as much to make her come out alright. She's definitely not a narcissist, at least to my understanding of the word. Spoilt: absolutely. Selfish: yes. But not a narcissist, I feel we throw that word around very liberally these days. I am a lawyer, and my wife is an accountant for our state. We have two kids. I remember when our daughter turned 14, she went through this phase of wanting everything under the sun. She knew not to talk back, but she moped around the house and was very disengaged. Our son at that time was 11. We told her straight up, this is OUR money. You start working at 15. We provide a house, clothes, pay bills, etc. your job as of right now is to clean your room, do your laundry, get good grades, and any other house work we tell you to do. Period. She continued attitude for a little bit….UNTIL my wife took the tv out of her room, took her phone for two weeks, and told her verbatim, “you think because we have money you get everything. Well, this is going to show you there are kids everywhere who don’t have these things. You will go to school and come home. You can watch TV with us, or sit in your room. The longer you have this attitude, the longer it remained locked up. Your choice. We are teaching you to work for the lifestyle you want. Right now, you have no lifestyle because you don’t pay for anything. This is called the bottom, and you’re at the bottom right now. Choice is yours?” Within a week, she apologized and understood. She still didn’t get her stuff back, but she wasn’t moping around the house. Two years later, time to get a car. We said, whatever you save from your job we will match it. If you save $200, you’ll get $400. If you save $3,000,you’ll get $6,000. It all depends on you. If you shop your money away, it’s your fault, not ours. You have to teach your kids the real deal. Nothing is given in our household

@Keepdapocket2 жыл бұрын
@@mathewshackelford8037 she ended up saving $3.100 for the summer. She spent a little over $300 for herself and kept $200 in the bank. For her discipline, because we truly didn’t help after we gave her tips, we over matched and gave her $4,100. But, what my wife suggested was get the car and co sign for it. Put $1,000 down, put the rest in her checking. That’s how she will make her payments. We don’t let her work during the school year because she is involved in sports and clubs. We still want her to be a kid. She is responsible for making the payments from her own account through her check book to learn to balance her own book. We feel it teaches her to be responsible about paying bills on time, but it’s also building her credit. What she didn’t know is for the summer we made her give us $20 a week for gas taking her and picking her up. But, we kept that money aside. And when school started, she got $240 back. On her own, she put that in her savings account. I by no means am saying she will turn out perfect. As a husband and father, I can feel good saying I’m doing my best to prepare. She wanted to work during the school year. My wife was fine with it. I said no. We are teaching her to be responsible, but I want her to enjoy being a kid. I want her to hang out at football games, talk about boys, do their little dance steps, sleepovers. She can work her part time job in the summer. You’re a teenager once, and I want her to enjoy it! She starts college next year, so the responsibility will change between managing free time and fun versus hitting those books and blocking out the outside noise to achieve that goal.

"She's getting a Bentley for herself, so why can't I get a g wagon?" For one, she has money. You don't.🤷 But then she said mom wants to get her a c class instead. Obviously mom has a big problem too. You raised your kid to be like that.

That sheila with her - the mother - is as vacuous and as gripped by fantasy as the brat. The father works and works and works to fund their life full of symbols, which have the sole purpose of showing off to similarly empty-headed wymminses.
