I'm interested in the ambient powder but will definitely try it first as they can settle into my wrinkles. I will try the facial tanner (gave them up long ago as I felt they showed my pigment). I'm sure they've improved and I find with all my peels, lasers and skincare, my face looks much more pale as I age. And YES, I use heliocare daily in summer, as I live in arid West and walk daily. I also use 25% AHA lotions on my body and don't typically sunscreen my legs for my walks( big hats and UPF long sleeves, of course). My legs have not burned. Love your content, love your matter of fact way of presenting it. Super organized and easy to follow. PS, for my red light I stand on my vibration plate (bone health), dry brush and towards the end apply my glycolic body lotion (all while listening to you, of course! ;-)

The legs up the wall. I've been practicing yoga for 25 years, and I'm a licensed mental health professional as well. Taking care of our central nervous system benefits every cell in our body, including our skin. This pose really helps our relaxation response turn on. If your hamstrings make this this pose difficult, you can start by resting your calves/shins on a chair, or moving a little further away from the wall so the legs are at more of an angle.

I agree that collagen powder is beneficial for the skin. I also take a collagen supplement daily. Additionally, I lift weights and actively work on building muscle. I eat a high protein diet to support this (around 150-160 g/day). However, I don’t include my collagen supplement in that number because it is not a complete protein. This is my personal choice to lift heavy weights and focus on progressive overload in my workouts and of course everyones goals are different. Just food for thought though for anyone else who follows a traditional strength training program.

@@ninimimi2906 I don’t make videos, but I would be happy to share with you what I do. I tend to eat the same things for breakfast and lunch and then my snack and dinner varies. For breakfast, I eat a plain oatmeal packet and mix in a scoop of whey protein powder into it. I also eat a Greek yogurt (oikos pro when I am bulking, two good, chobani zero, etc. if I am cutting, whatever fits in my day if I’m in maintenance). I’ll also have some berries or a couple of dates. For lunch I do a big salad topped with a protein (tuna, salmon, whatever you want), some berries on the side and a protein bar. Sometimes instead of the salad I’ll do egg whites and some wheat toast. This is if I am cutting. If I am bulking, instead of a salad or egg whites I do rice and beans and a couple of regular eggs and then fruit and a bar. My husband loves to cook so he just tries to cook a high protein dinner and I eat whatever portion size fits into my macros. For snack I like to take frozen blueberries and warm them up in a pan and pour them on top of some cottage cheese. Sometimes I have Greek yogurt as a snack as well. I also will have some fruits or veggies with my snack. For dessert after dinner, I really like the simple mills brand muffin mixes so I always have those on hand as a sweet treat. I stay fairly consistent with this, but I definitely work in fun foods and don’t worry about having treats on a special occasion or vacation as long as I hit my protein goal for the day. It really is all about consistency and balance. I do find if you get a ton of protein in at breakfast and lunch though, it’s way easier to hit your protein goal for the day. Hope this helps!

I also keep a mini crystal nail file and mini hand cream, as well as a tiny pack of anti-bac wipes in my little case. Always a lip balm, on a stick as I don't want to be sticking my fingers into a pot while I'm out. A pack of mini tissues and whatever lipstick I'm wearing that day. Oil blotting sheets and a spare hair tie and tiny clip. And of course, a mini, flat compact mirror, one that has normal view and the opposite side is magnified. And a pair of mini tweezers and a band-aid. Mini anti-bac hand gel and I store it all very easily in a 5x5 inch zip up bag with little compartments. Because everything is in mini, it all fits comfortably without being heavy. And on those special days of the month a have an even smaller pouch which includes a mini pack of intimate wipes, liners, tampax and pain meds. That pouch measures 3x 2 inches. It's a lot of stuff, I know, but everything is tiny or decanted into little travel pots and I'm affectionately known as the one who has everything but the kitchen sink! 😊

Dr Sam, if you ever made a video about caring for grey hair, it would be invaluable. I've been going grey since I was 28 and at this point, the front of my hairline is mostly brittle, grey, dry, fragile hairs. I feel like aging has changed the texture of my hair entirely - it isn't as soft or manageable since I was younger. And worse, the gentle shampoos make my scalp and hair a greasy disaster while cleansing shampoos (like my favorite volumizing ones) can make it feel coarse, frizzy, etc. I feel like I'm going insane wondering if I should trade out my shampoo, conditioner, leave-ins, or even my hair dryer. There aren't many resources online for women with greying hair and most of the people making hair content are younger women who aren't dealing with this issue yet. I know you've discussed haircare before, but caring for grey hair has been my special hell where none of my previous routines seem to work.
@janes21802 ай бұрын
Something that might help: think of shampoo being what manages your scalp and conditioner takes care of your hair. No need to stay within the same product range, just use what you feel comfortable with. Only don't switch shampoos constantly, cause it will irritate your skin. There's also lots of products out there that will make brittle hair smoother and more manageable. You can try leave-in conditioners or hair masks (use im between shampoo and conditioner). Im sure there a plenty of accounts dedicated not only to hair care but specifically graying hair. Hope that helps 😊

I’m also carnivore so I understand with that diet, it’s somewhat protects you a lot from burning. I also take collagen in the morning however I buy it online through Costco. It’s for women only. I have been doing it for years now. It’s in a white and pink container. Of course it works on your skin and nails. Not sure if it’s any good but I’m consistent. I do shave my face. So, theoretically, I could do my skincare routine twice - around 5:30 am and then again around 8:00-8:30 am after workout/errands. I don't mind applying my serums twice (CoQ10, vitamin C, and tranexamic, etc for pigmentation or some peptide serum instead). Is there any issue with that? Is there any downside in doing it this way? Thanks a lot!

Cotton pads with micellular water great idea!!! I peel even with the lowest dose of tretinoin so I have to exfoliate with bha/aha in the mornings… never heard of the oral supplement for extra protection from sun; will have to try that.

What facial sunscreen and body sunscreen do you like for oily skin. Love your video.

Oh, just checking out your line. So bummed you don’t post to Oz. Will have to try and find some good alternatives 😢

The thing with products like bronzer and self-tanners are, I am just far to fair skinned to wear them, they very quickly turn me orange, so I don't even know if I will ever find something that doesn't do that.

Dr Sam, I love your lucent C serum! However, the last 2 I purchased (1 online and 1 in Target) were orange when I opened them ☹️

Such a great video. I love the exfoliation hacks. I have a question - what is the best skin care for surgical scarring? I've had two knee replacements, and I'm a year post-surgery. My scars look great, but I was wondering if there was a cream or oil that would be great to use on them.

I really enjoy your channel, thank you. Is it ok to use the Dennis Gross pads alongside Tretinoin?

Isn't collagen an incomplete protein? Meaning it probably doesn't support muscle repair as much as a complete protein? Would like to hear your thoughts on that! Also, I always thought self tanners also aged the skin, or is once a week usage fine?

@@mahamzahid7846 hi! No evidence that self tanner actually ages the skin. It’s just an unsupported theory. With regards to collagen supplementation, despite being an incomplete protein, it’s of course not my only source of protein - so ultimately all of my amino acid requirements are met when you combine what’s consumed in the form of food + oral collagen supplementation. Hope that makes sense!
