I used to volunteer for care house of Oakland county which is in Detroit, mi. My job was to “child assist” kids that were being interviewed by detectives who had reason to believe they were being molested. It broke me to see the kids who were sent back with their mother and her “boyfriend” who was 9/10 a molester. I had to quit because I was getting physically ill.

I'm convinced the foster care system is a front for child sex trafficking. If we spent all the money that goes to foster families on orphanages filled with social workers/medical professionals/psychologists/teachers (I know that's not a perfect fix), we could at least ensure that children grow up in some stability and structure.

This is beyond sad.. And like you said its very difficoult to be friends with someone from the system-I had a friend and she was so traumateized that she saw a world trough a very dark lenze, I had to prove my friendship to her all the time, she doubted every thing, twisted my words a lot, manipulated, all my good intenttions felt flat, she saw bed intenttions in all the pipl, didnt trust no one, not even her own doughter, huge fight or flight responses so in the end she pushed me away with her attitude, I really tried, but she was like an emotional vampire, I was drined so much every time we meet, she didnt respect my boundaries, got angry at me if I had to be with my family and couldnt meet her and whats really interesting she became like that the more closer we got, like her abandonment issues really begin to shown up, maybe it was also her peronsality, not just trauma, it was definitaly mix of both, its sad how just to many times cykle reapits-hurt people, hurt people..unhealed inner child screaming for attention, its should never come to that, so many broken souls on this planet! Much love&light🙏💗

It startles me to hear people talk about the 'devil' or 'demons' in 2020 still, like in the middle ages, as if those creatures really existed. Its how the early people tried to explain things they didn't understand. It just takes people to commit the most evil things unfortunately, no fairy tale creatures needed. Its up to us alone to make this world a better place.

I’m a 40 year old man who never wanted kids when I was younger, got close to marriage a couple of times but never closed the deal. Now I kind of want kids and sometimes regret not getting married. I always sort of considered myself too selfish to raise kids but stories like this make me want to be a foster parent just to save one or two of these kids from the predators that use the foster system to victimize them. I was fortunate to have a good family and thinking about kids growing up without that is heartbreaking.

@@tuxedobowie887 Since I'm a single woman who works full time (somebody has to pay the bills and save for my retirement), it's unlikely that I will. I made the choice at age 10 to never have children because I discovered that there were already too many children in the world who didn't have parents. That made me very sad. It still makes me sad. I was told that my feelings would change and someday I would want my own child; four decades later, I still haven't changed my mind and feel the same way. The far more difficult issue is finding someone who shares my outlook, and that is why I'm still single all these many years later. Most people want their own children, while I can love any child. It's not requisite that child shares my DNA. Apparently, I'm a very odd duck when it comes to those values.

I want to thank Mark for bringing a faces and backstories out of the dark. Sometimes its easy to blame these situations on poor life choices but there is so much more most of us can't even begin to relate to. Last week a friend of mine lost her estranged husband to a horrible death in the dessert due to drug use, which I now can see, was brought on by instability and abuse in childhood. These videos and this recent incident involving someone I knew personally, and sadly harshly judged, are making me see these folks as broken spirits, broken souls and broken bodies. I will never see these folks the same way again. If nothing else we can treat them with compassion and kindness whenever possible.

Yes! ...Unless you lived (or live) the lifestyle, people are just stuck in the dark... These videos shed a lot of light in areas of severe neglect (people with no money are systematically neglected) . Neglected not only by the money-hungry systems in place, but also by the subjects themselves.

Briana's story really resonated with me. I really hope she finds the supportive therapy and holistic help she needs to address the trauma she has experienced throughout her life and overcome her addiction. I am living proof, it is possible as I was a teenage runaway and had a serious addiction to heroin and amphetamines for 7 years till I got clean at age 23 (I am now 37). The journey to recovery is not an easy one and can be a long and challenging process but Briana is only 26 and has so much potential. I hope she finds the courage and determination to choose that path of recovery and build a better and brighter future for herself and her son. Wishing her all the best and hope she stays safe in the meantime💞🌿🙌🕊🌠

Reading Emeran Mayer’s book The Mind-Gut Connection. It’s amazing how much stress from the mother is transferred to the baby in the womb. Add to that there’s often little physical nurturing touch in infancy in so many of Mark’s subjects here and, tragically, outright abandonment and/or abuse. I keep strong hope for these subjects but they need our help and encouragement. Thanks for what you do here Mark. You make it look easy and it’s not.

My heart breaks for her. She is holding in trauma. It's so evident by her body language and how she carries herself. She has a shallow breathing pattern so much so that doesn't even inhale her cigarettes. I'm sure on the surface she has a logical explanation as to why she doesn't inhale her cigarettes but it's likely related to her holding in trauma and not letting go. Her shoulders are not in a resting position as if she's stuck in a state of fight, flight, or freeze. She should really look into both ibogaine treatment and trauma releasing. It would help clear out so many of the past trauma's so she can be free. Just her taking up simple meditation and deep breathing exercises would help her immensely.
@ArrKayLondon
@ArrKayLondon 4 жыл бұрын
Trauma release takes time to release. I think it comes up when people are ready/able/willing to face it. People like her who have complex trauma usually don't end up being able to face it and will blot it out with drugs. Usually the most extreme drugs.

My heart goes out to her. As someone who also spent my first 12 years in foster care, before being adopted in 2000-I can relate to her in so many ways, it’s eerie. I understand her struggles and definitely don’t ask myself “why” she is the in this situation, I ask why not. We need to do better for the children of the state: It’s a fundamentally flawed and broken system. By the powers that be I found sobriety nearly 5 years ago (July 29, 2015) and moved to San Diego to start over. 20 years since my foster care days, I now mentor and volunteer with at risk foster children, teens, & young adults and sadly-not much has changed. They need EVERYONE to advocate and care enough. 😭 I can only hope she has found her sobriety & way too. Heartbreaking reality-so unfair. I wish I could help her, personally. 🥺🥀

This story, and many others, makes me want to pursue my dreams of helping kids and women.

This particular story hit close to home. I was adopted as a infant by a family who already had 2 biological kids. The mother and father abused me and the father’s brother molested me. At 4 years old the father broke my leg and took me to the hospital that’s when the doctor saw how beat up I was and called DHR. I got put into foster care at the age of 5 (so did their 2 biological kids) and went through 4 different families before I got adopted again at 12. I was always a good kid I wanted to show the family that abused me that I was someone. Now at 27 I’m still fighting those same demons that I hid as a child. I drink everyday not because I like the taste but to cope. Life is hard and it only gets harder. I don’t have kids but I can feel this young lady pain. Unfortunately for me it’s just me and it’s a lonely feeling but I have to pep talk and cheer for myself to keep going. Prayers to all struggling to just make it.
