It's the same reason they can't perform PIT maneuvers or aren't allowed to chase in a lot of places... Individual department "policies". In a lot of places, officers can get in trouble for not actively trying to prevent damage to the police vehicles. @SugarTits7165 күн бұрын
It's not the dispatcher who chooses whether or not to authorize a chase or PIT maneuver...those decisions come from supervisors & are relayed to the officers by the dispatcher.

Intentionally using traffic as a blockade while surrounding the suspect vehicle with guns drawn is a formula for deadly consequences that include innocent bystanders. The one officer ordered one civilian vehicle to stop, not allowing the civilian to remove themselves from the deadly situation. Their plan was garbage and poorly executed. If I were the person in the truck with my kid in the back, I would be super-mega pissed.

Dumb question, but do all cop cars carry spike strips? In cases like this where they are actively boxing a car in, why don't they lay down a strip in front or make shortened versions of strips to push up against the wheels for these occasions?
@caniusdirus6 күн бұрын
I don't think all cops carry spikes. But yeah, I agree, you would think that one of them had spikes during a stop and search. I've seen other videos where cops do just that; put spikes down before the suspect has the chance to flee. But then again, we just watched this department deny a 20mph pit with no traffic. So it's a fair bet that they aren't the brightest crayon in the box....
