great stuff. but Cubase is not always 100% accurate at detecting Hitpoints. Some times it off by quite a few samples. snare drum especially

Chris, thanks for sharing all those videos... a follower of you over here. I have a question about generating midi from hitpoints. I have been using Slate Trigger 2 since released, even if before Trigger I was using Cubase's hitpoints (a user of Cubase since +20 years). My question is about slight differences I found from generating the midi from Cubase's hitpoints and Trigger2 and how it does affect phase issues. I have been coming back to Cubase's hitpoints since I found some minor phase issues with Trigger, but I'm not sure if it was my fault or some other people had these issues too. Have you using and comparing hitpoints midi generation versus Trigger 2 midi generation? If yes, you get the same acurate results? If not, what is your trusted method to do that task. Anyway, it could be an idea for a video topic from you in order to continue sharing valuable content. Thank you again.

Hey, Thanks for the video(s). BUT, what is the easiest way to change bass drum to snare etc...? I found that a bit tricky somehow. I noticed that if you create midi notes for example from snare, the default setting in Groove Agent is bass drum, and it is not too easy to change the instrument? What is the easiest way to change it? Can you make a video about that as well?

Hey Chris, I don't know if you're dealing with this, but is your hitpoint detection mostly accurate? Mine has been pretty terrible. I'm running the latest Cubase on the latest Windows 10 update.

I’d like to share a trick I like to do additionally with the generated midi drums: You can use the stock plugin „MIDI Gate“ on the audio tracks to gate the drums (e.g. the Tom tracks) perfectly and fully controlled. With a copied midi track this can even be edited to correct wrong triggers or let some ghost notes through. It can also be moved in time to open the gate slightly earlier. This is especially helpful when there is much mic bleed.

I just discovered this channel and I'm certainly glad I did! This is maybe one of the few videos where someone really explains the recording art in plain english! Love it!! Question: Would it be possible to record drums with REMO low volume mesh straight from a mic and then change the sound like you did in the video with a Cubase drums sample?

Chris, this is a very cool set of techniques! Just tested it using a different instrument to detect the hitpoints I want to remix with a drum and bass (acoustic piano). With just a bit of fiddling with threshold and intensity I've got a tidy little midi track drop my kick on to. Yeah, man...thanks!

Thanks a million for this one Chris! I just tried this out and ended up getting a much better sound from the tracks I had because I had the sample right there to listen to! Made it way easier to hear where my kick was lacking and where the unwanted freq's were. I intended to just blend in the sample, but now I can hardly hear the difference!!! This will help in more ways than intended I'm sure... Cheers to you Chris!
