Good first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Galaxy. This was one of Su-metal's solo songs (she is the lead vocalist). Two other girls - Yuimetal and Moametal, made up BABYMETAL at that time - they were getting a break while Su performed her solo. Sadly Yui left the band in October 2018 for undisclosed health reasons following a 12 month absence, Su and Moa chose to continue as a duo and from 2019 through 2021 they were supported by three girls (the Avengers Riho, Kano and Momoko) dancing in the third spot. They started in 2010 when the girls were aged 12 and 11 as a sub-unit of a J-Pop Idol group with a school theme for girls aged 10 to 15. When Su-metal turned 15 it was time for her to leave and BABYMETAL, having been formed and developed around her vocal and stage talents, separated from the Idol group to become an independent band in their own right. In anticipation of the separation the live band (previously they sang to a backing track with a fake band dressed in skeleton suits - known as Babybones - miming the instruments behind them) was phased in playing a couple of festivals and the encores in some shows. They are the Kami Band and they first appeared in October 2012 and became BABYMETAL's full time support for all live shows starting with the two shows (Red Night and Black Night) they played at the Budokan in March 2014 - where this video came from. They have been with them ever since. Kami means god or spirit, so BABYMETAL lore has it that they are the gods of guitar, bass and drums and have been summoned from the dead to support them in live shows - the traditional white burial robes and corpse face paint are all part of that. In reality they are the finest session musicians to be found in Japan. There have been many Kami Band members (they all have their own bands and projects so there can be times when one or more is unavailable), but they have always had a hard core of the same maybe half a dozen musicians who have played the vast majority of shows. The Kami Band that night were Leda Cygnus (blue guitar), Takayoshi Ohmura (gold guitar) - both 7 strings I think, BOH (6 string bass) and Hideki Aoyama (drums). This was at the Budokan in Tokyo, a martial arts arena built for the 1964 Olympics but now also a hugely prestigious venue for concerts and the place Japanese artists dream of and aspire to play. They were playing in the round with the stage in the middle and the audience surrounding them in several levels. The barriers you saw were put up over night - Yui fell off the stage on the first night - no small matter falling 8-10 feet onto concrete when you are under 5 feet tall yourself, Moa also fell and just avoided sliding off the stage as well, the safety barriers appeared for the second night. BABYMETAL are the youngest average age female band to play there -early March 2014 and Su-metal was just 16 and a couple of months, Yuimetal and Moametal still only 14. At the start of 2021 they played the Budokan again - 10 shows as part of their 10th anniversary celebration. 'Rondo of Nightmare' is possibly their darkest song lyrically. Su is caught in a recurring nightmare being chased through the dark by something she can't see. Finally she hides but it is still coming closer and, accepting there is no escape she asks that if she is to die won't it at least show itself first. They have about 50 songs, every one of them is different, some very much metal others leaning towards their pop roots and everything in between. They play virtually every metal genre and will mix in many other musical styles and genres with the metal. They have no bad songs, no fillers ... OK some you may like more, others less so, but that is really down to personal taste, personally I skip none of their songs at all. I'm sure you will get lots of suggestions and requests and I've written more than enough already.

⚡ / 🔥 😱 🔥 Just to be very clear, the Kami Band members (all guys) performed the instrumental 'Mischief of the Metal Gods'. The song 'Rondo of Nightmare' began just before Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto, or Su) rose up from under the stage. That was a sixteen year old Su. Her voice has only gotten better in the last 7+ years. The song had its world premiere the night before, at Budokan Red Night. Rondo is easily in my top ten BABYMETAL songs. Su performed three solos that night. She did 'No Rain, No Rainbow', followed by 'Akatsuki' earlier in the set. The two younger BABYMETAL members, Yui and Moa (as Black BABYMETAL) did two songs without Su ('4 no Uta' and 'Onedari Daisakusen'), and they performed a bunch of songs together. That Black Night Budokan concert from March 2014 is still one of my favorite BABYMETAL concerts. Not only is Su brave enough to sing and dance on a tiny elevated platform in the dark, but she is also fearless enough to follow those Kami Band solos.

@@JamoZNL According to some criteria - absolutely. I would call these criteria, but the text will be too long.)) But it can be simpler - everyone has their own preferences in music. And if you rate Babymetal high enough, there will be those, and quite a few, for whom they will be in the first place. For me, for example, Babymetal will undoubtedly remain the most unique phenomenon in music and perhaps in art in general.

@@JamoZNL Not to argue, but I'm interested in this question. What does this rank mean? Instrumental skill? Lyrics and poetics, depth of meanings? Opinion of other popular musicians? Or just popularity? Or... How can music change people and their lives? How strong and even more positive? Especially whose rank is it? Modern is still subject to the defining influence of the American rock scene. How many famous bands do you know in general that don't sing in English? Even my favorite band, Holy Moses, is German, a real Teutonic trash - they still sing in English. Rank doesn't mean anything. The only thing that matters is what you like. And if you listen to music because others listen to it, then this is pop music, whatever its performance. And here's another thing. If Metallica had started now, it would have remained just a good band (with all due respect). If Babymetal had started 40 years ago and sung in English, the world would have been different. But. If there were no Metallica, there would be no Babymetal (and this is already a fact). You see how difficult it is with these assessments, "who is better"))

Staple songs to react to are: 1. This song; Rondo of Nightmare (Suzuka Solo song with solos by the Kami band - this is a group of instrumentalists (rotating but small, tight group) playing for Babymetal live performances, there are many other solo songs by Su, mainly ballads, or power metal style) 2. Road of Resistance - live in Japan (to see them in full force, insanely fast song, and on their serious side) 3. Catch Me If You Can (Fun and playful side of Babymetal) 4. Megitsune (a quintessential BM song, with Kawaii/Pop, and Japanese folk influence. A balance of serious and fun side) Outside of these 4 songs, the entire discography of Babymetal is worth exploring as they mix different genres in their music. They started as Heavy Metal + Japanese Idol / Kawaii (literally means cute) with the girls aged more or less 13 about ten years ago; started by mixing Japanese Pop with Heavymetal. And then later on began mixing other metal subgenres, and other music styles in their songs as they grew older (Metalcore, Ballads, Powermetal, Rap, Numetal, even Death Metal instrumentation but with cute vocals, etc) Have fun, and welcome to the FOX HOLE!

Standout songs? Every BABYMETAL song is a standout song lol. SU-METAL the vocalist was only 16 when she performed this song and that too at the prestigious Budokan. One needs to be atleast KAMIBAND level in order to summon SU lol. Since you are a drummer I guess you'll enjoy the songs that have a KAMIBAND intro; Kagerou with Western KAMIBAND intro, Catch me if you can Live at Tokyo dome are some suggestions. I also urge you to react to Tales of Destinies as well because that is an insane song...so insane that it was only performed once live. Other than that Hideki Aoyama is an absolute GOD of DRUMS! Now Rondo of Nightmare is absolutely awesome. The premise of the song is that SU-METAL is trapped in an endless nightmare with an unknown terrible creature following her. She can do nothing but run from it. In the woods, in a brief moment of respite she finds it catching up to her. She realizes that she can't escape from it and tells the creature to show itself. She realizes that she can do nothing other than fall into the darkness. It is a pretty haunting and creepy song! Hope you react to more BABYMETAL because their musicianship is top notch.

Rondo Of Nightmare/With Mischief Of God Intro:- Babymetal:- Babymetal (Japanese: ベビーメタル, Hepburn: Bebīmetaru) (stylized in all caps) is a Japanese kawaii metal band. The band consists of Suzuka Nakamoto as "Su-metal" (Vocal and Dance) and Moa Kikuchi as "Moametal" (Scream and Dance). The band is produced by Kobametal from the Amuse talent agency. Their vocals are backed by heavy metal instrumentation, performed by a group of session musicians known as the "Kami Band" at performances. KamiBand:- "The KamiBand are the instrumentalists (or backing band) in BABYMETAL. They are all male except for the BABYMETAL Girls- Each member is a "god (Kami) of music" summoned by The Fox God stage by stage. All the Kamis have their own jobs and side-projects in addition to BABYMETAL". Current Members Who Perform At Nippon Budokan:- •Takayoshi Ohmura (Guitar, ESP SNAPPER-7/R Gold & Twinkle Pink). •Leda Cygnus (Guitar, ESP BLUE CUSTOM). •Daisuke 'BOH' Bohte (Bass, ATELIER Z BETA 6, Boh'S CUSTOM 6). •Aoyama Hideki (Drums, YAMAHA Signature Drum Kit). BABYMETAL is the youngest act to perform at the Budokan and artists need to be invited to perform there. Live at Budokan: Red Night & Black Night Apocalypse (stylized as LIVE AT BUDOKAN ~RED NIGHT & BLACK NIGHT APOCALYPSE~) is the third live video release by the Japanese heavy metal band Babymetal. It contains two concerts performed at Nippon Budokan shortly after the release of the band's eponymous debut album, and was released on January 7, 2015 in a standard edition and a limited-edition box set exclusively for "The One" fanclub members. Nippon Budokan:- Nippon Budokan (日本武道館, Nippon Budōkan), often shortened to simply Budokan, is an indoor arena located in Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan. Originally built for the inaugural Olympic judo competition in the 1964 Summer Olympics, its name translates as Martial Arts Hall in English. While its primary purpose is to host martial arts contests, the arena has gained additional fame as one of the world's most iconic musical performance venues. A number of famous rock music acts have played at Budokan. The Beatles were the first rock group to play there in a series of concerts held between June 30 and July 2, 1966. ABBA ended their last tour there. Their final show on March 27, 1980, was the last live concert ABBA performed together. Numerous acts have recorded live albums at Budokan, including Bryan Adams, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Cheap Trick, Dream Theater, Duran Duran, Kiss, Mr. Big, Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest, Journey and Deep Purple. Dancing in the Dark 2 meters above a rotating stage, a 16yr old Suzuka sings of an Unending Nightmare of being chased by a Faceles Terror and Begging a Boon that it show Her its Face just once before she dies. That's Metal. That's Babymetal!! Now, the first time I watched this performance I too thought of a music box dancer...for some reason I thought about "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" with its famous Music Box scene. But that was sung in a Major key while Rondo of Nightmare was in a Minor, and then I remembered one of the other songs from Chitty called Hushabye Mountain that was sung in a Minor key and that is what swam around in my head for a bit until I actually checked out the lyrics and realized that the rag doll stance and vocal effects section was about her pretending to be a statue in a fountain trying to hide from that Terror!! Such a Fantastic performance and I'm very glad you enjoyed this!! So More Babymetal Always!! Put your Kitsune UP!! Po!

Great & welcome & thanks from Japan 有難う💛。From now on, you are going to get tons of information about BM from many fans in various countries. I just scribble about BM's worldwide activities that started right after this show in 2014. In the latest world tours from June 2019 through March 2020 (prior to the pandemic), they performed live 20 times in USA, 19 in EU/UK/Russia and 1 in Taiwan in addition to 15 in Japan. (They performed at 3 festivals in Australia in 2018 but not in NZ yet, sorry). This year, they carefully restarted their activities and completed 10 serial concerts here in Tokyo taking very strict countermeasures against infection. I witnessed their shows at the venue. "Rondo" is one of solo songs by the lead singer of BM, Su-Metal. Kamis' (=Gods') super instrumental performance was excellent enough as a main event in the show, but once the 16-year-old Queen (as of 2014) emerged from the underground, she colored everything differently with her piercing voice then turned Kami Band's plays into a ritual to summon her. Please explore BABYMETAL more.

Babymetal is actually three girls, well since 2018 just two girls, with Su the main singer and Moa and Yui dance and backupvocals. Rondo of nightmare is one of Su-Metals Solos so the other two can have a break. The musicans are called the Kami band and are Sessionmusicans that switch out. Babymetal is a fusion of metalmusic and j-pop vocals and the sweet adorable image of the girls. They have been around since 2010. When Koba-Metal (producer) created Babymetal the girls were between 11-13 years old. He chose Su for her strong Stagepresent and her vocal genius, Moa and Yui for their Twin like cutness and compatible voices.

Nice reaction. Oh, the fun that awaits you. Babymetals music is very diverse. Their sound over all is metal but they infuse it with other musical genres. Sometimes multiple genres throughout the song. Sometimes multiple genres at the same time. This approach leaves them outside of the norm for metal. As the producer has said if it sounds too much like one genre it's not a Babymetal song. The fun thing comes from their creative composers who manage to keep an overall sound that as soon as you hear it you know you're listening to Babymetal. The pair of 7 string guitars, 6 string bass, The ridiculously great drumming all part of the Babymetal sound. But first and foremost is the lead singer Su-metal. She is far more than just a Jpop style vocalist. She can even sing in multiple styles during the same song and make it all sound good and seem easy. What really makes her the lead is her undeniable vocal power and stage presence. She is the definition of a lead singer. Yui and Moa who don't appear in this video are her back up vocalist and dancers. Yui left the group officially in 2018. Since then, Moa has become an even bigger part of the vocals. Singing anything from harmonies to line fills to whole sections of rhyme style vocals like in Night Night Burn from the 3rd album. You could write novels about this band. Maybe one day we'll get a movie about them. Enjoy your journey through the Babymetal galaxy of music.

Babymetal is incredible appearance on metal scene. I think, that all metalist fell in love these three young ladies (Sue, Moa, Yui) (but everything is OK, they are adult women now :-)), problem is, that only Sue (as lead singer) appears in this video, without Moa and Yui. The second think is, that instrumental background (band) is amazing and their performances are unreal. But lead comoposer, guitarist Mikio Fujioka died tragically in 2018 (age 36). That's a big loss. And Yui left the group due to health problems.

Not all female. The band are not part of Babymetal and are generally all men. Babymetal is just the girls in front. The band is 'The Kami Band' and only play concerts. There are 3 girls but this song only had Suzuka Nakamoto. She is the lead singer. The other two girls (Yui Mizuno and Moa Kikuchi) do backup vocals and dance. They also have 4 songs they do without Su. Su has 4 solo songs including Rondo of Nightmare. My favorite Su solo song is Akatsuki. The band is separate because that is how they formed. It was just the girls and their producer Koba (with support from their talent agency) in the beginning. They started as a subunit of an Idol Group called Sakura Gakuin. It means Cherry Blossom Academy. It had a school theme but was not a school. They became independent in late 2012 or mid 2013. Depending how you want to look at it. They recorded their first song on Oct 30 2010. The Kami Band made it's first appearance in their first concert as an independent group. More or less. It's all a little blurry. In truth they were never really a subunit. That was just a money saving thing. Putting two projects together. IMO. Opinions vary. But anyone who says Sakura Gakuin was a real school is just factually wrong.

BABYMETAL of three girls. This is a solo by Su-Metal (Suzuka Nakamoto). She is 16 in this video. The other two girls are Yuimetal (Yui Mizuno) and Moametal (Moa Kikuchi) age 14 during this show. Su-Metal has four solos the other two members have four duets (the duets are Black BABYMETAL). They were founded in 2010 when Su-Metal was 13; Yuimetal and Moametal were 11. They celebrated their 10 year anniversary in Oct 2020. They closed out their first 10 years with 10 shows, primarily at the Budokan. They have been sealed (no live shows or videos) until it's possible to safely perform live. They are best when seen live. The Kami band - are Gods of their Instruments - were sent by the Fox God and are technically not part of BABYMETAL. They are the best session musicians in Japan. You're right it was two songs. The opening was called "Mischief of Gods" highlighting the Kami band members. The machine of a drummer is Hideki Aoyama - a second generation drummer. There is a lot of lore surrounding BABYMETAL it involves the Fox God (a shape shifter). The Fox God actually exists in the Shinto religion. The BABYMETAL community called the ONE, will provide you with a wealth of information about BABYMETAL and numerous recommendations for songs. The Budokan was built as the Judo hall for the Tokyo Olympics and is considered one of the best venues in Japan. At the time, BABYMETAL was the youngest group to play there.

I only "discovered" Babymetal about 6 months ago and now own 5 Blu-Rays. Watching them play on KZbin all over the world and at 50,000+ arenas (Tokyo Dome), I couldn't believe that I hadn't heard of them previously. I think they never really broke through in the US in a big way. Their shows are as much like theatre plays with singing and dancing as a conventional concert. Recently I have become obsessed with finding stuff that the Kami band members have done outside of Babymetal. Amazing musicians all - Mikio Fujioka (R.I.P) in particular is just incredible and has some great Jazz-like performances.

Welcome to The One. They haven't done bad in the US and around the world - better than any other Japanese band before them. They've toured every year since 2014 until the world closed and their last US tour in 2019 covered 20 dates in 15 States including selling out the Forum in LA for their first US arena show. The also marked the release of Metal galaxy, the first album by an Asian band (not just Japanese) to hit number 1 on the US Billboard hard Rock Charts. Kitsunes up :-)

The key to this song which makes it the darkest song they have (note that darkest != heaviest), is that the concept of the song is that she is singing as a little girl stuck in a never ending nightmare ( Round.. repeating.. Rondo of Nightmare) where she is being chased by someone or something and isn't waking up from it.. like an Alice in Wonderland type vibe, but the nightmare never ends. What makes it dark is that the song starts with alternating bars of 7/8 and 8/8 (or 7/8 then 4/4, or 15/16, take your pick), which is what the verse is in, then switches to 3/4, putting you in a Waltz. that's accented by her dances during the chorus. That's what gives it that dark vibe. While this does feature a drum solo by Hideki Aoyama, a better one to react to of his would be his work with the rest of the Kami band on "Gathering of the Metal Gods", or as it was renamed in honor of Mikio Fujioka, "The Hills of Wisteria". That will also give you a good idea of what the Kami Band can do.

BABYMETAL = Idol Pop + Death Metal. Rondo of Nightmare is unlike any other BABYMETAL song. It opened with Mischief of the Gods instrumental by the Kami (god/deity) Band. Then you saw only one third of BABYMETAL rise from the depths to sing Rondo of Nightmare. Many great songs. For you intro to the full group, go with Megitsune (MV), a perfect blend of J-Pop, Heavy Metal, and Japanese cultural elements.

I am actually studying this song right now. It's not easy to play at all. 😂 So since this is a drum channel, the way I count this is 4/4 | 3/4 | 4/4 | 4/4 for the intro/instrumentals, the verses are in 3/4 and the chorus is in 6/8. If I'm counting it wrong, please let me know. It's also a deceptively fast song. On my metronome it's around 170bpm.

First let me say great job pronouncing my name, even in the U.S. most people pronounce it like Paul with an R. You even got the trilling on the R. What makes this song so interesting musically is, to reinforce the nightmarish feeling, there are parts of the song that are changing from 3/4 to 4/4 to 6/4, even from one bar to the next. Meanwhile, Sumetal's vocals are mostly in 3/4 so she is having to keep time separately from the band. She even incorporates a waltz step in to her movements at 7:58. Thanks for the react and have a wonderful Christmas (or Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Festivus, or whatever you celebrate), and a happy new year.

Great reaction! A few years ago, I discovered BABYMETAL for myself, and they put everything else in their place. If you are interested in more than drumming, you should do yourself a favour and check out more of their videos. You have only seen half of what makes them so special so far, like the great stages, awesome musicians, beautiful vocals, and interesting compositions. There are other elements like elaborate choreographies (most of their songs feature two additional dancers), unmatched crowd participation, fascinating fusion of genres and a relentless output of energy and positive vibes that you still have to see to believe. The official music video for „Road of Resistance“ would be a great choice for those (maybe except for the genre fusing). It tends to get blocked, though, so you‘d be well advised to pause often and possibly use some video effects to get it through, in case you intend to do a reaction video.

Hey Andrew, the band behind Babymetal is called Kami band (Kami = God in Japanese) they are not as big as BM but also have some sziable shows in Japan. This song is an all Instrumental one, on this show, when they played it, they didn´t had a name for it, so it was the song without name. Later when the one guitarist (Mikio, the one with the black guitar) died they named the song "hill of wisteria", which is in remembrance of Mikio. The song really highlights the talents of the band-members, not many reactors on YT have reacted to it, which is a shame, so I hope you will pick up the song. Since you are a musician yourself, it is a MUST see for you. I am looking forward to your video. Prepare to be amazed by them. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hn6tY4WhjtCbd6M once you have seen the original, you can also have a look at the version they played on the first concert after Mikio died. Warning it might get you emotional. But do the original version (with Mikio) as reaction, Takayoshi (the other guitarist, - pink glitter guitar) is amazing no doubt, but both him an Mikio as a pair are unbelievably good. kzbin.info/www/bejne/l2WQiHlpiNpmqas

The band is the "Kami Band", all male and they play at the live shows, no in the studio. Welcome to the Babymetal "foxhole". Despite the long hair and the "dresses" the band are all guys....Your comment that the concert "looks like fun" is very perceptive because Babymetal are all about fun and putting on a show. Here we get The Kami Band doing the "Mischiefs of the Metal Gods" intro with Aoyama Hideki (drums), BOH (6 string bass), Takayoshi Ohmura (7 string gold guitar), Leda Cygnus (blue guitar). They are dressed as spirits of the dead which is significant in BM lore, but let's concentrate on the music for now. RON is one of Su's solos that allow her to show her individual talent and give the other two girls, Moa and Yui, a chance to rest. Yes you have only seen a third of BM so far. This concert is Budokan Black Night in 2014 so Su was just 16 years old. I'm always tempted to recommend more BM songs, but this time I'm going to request that you don't react to a song because you are noticing lots about the structure of the music and this particular song has "lots of music"- don't listen to "Tales of the Destinies" yet, work up to it, and yes, that was meant to intrigue you. Maybe listen to "Road of Resistance Live in japan" or "Headbanger Legend 1997". RON is a very dark song where Su is chased by something she cannot escape. The repetitive nature of a "rondo" makes this even more frightening and that's explicitly said in the lyrics. I think that the changing time signatures and dissonance of the music are there to make us feel uncomfortable and keep us off balance. The final chorus is as unsettling as the time signatures and offers no happy resolution: It flickers slowly appearing and disappearing in my mind. A nightmare rondo is being repeated. The awakening light is gone far away out of my sight. I can do nothing but fall into the darkness. Some reviewers mention that the song ends very abruptly and that it's hard to settle into...the lyrics imply that there's no hope of waking, but that's often what you feel when you are in a nightmare and then you wake as suddenly as the song ends.

Are you asking if they have any other outstanding songs !? I will not say exactly about the outstanding, but they definitely do not have weak, passable and careless ones! the only thing to consider is that their work can be roughly divided into three segments. the first is songs like this (a kind of rock ballad, tragedy and lyrics). the second segment is songs like "road of resistance" hard rock stuff. and the third is a dance direction (from bray beat to Indian motives) And all this is combined in one group. I liked the author's reaction. I will wait for reviews of the next songs. Good luck.
