He hits HARD yet has such light, delicate hands and wrists. Everytime I see him play it makes me feel like he’s conducting the drums rather than playing them. Such a master of crispness 👌🏼
@deadboof9 ай бұрын
From what I can tell he more than not hits hard but the sticks use are 5a so they give a lighter touch. Not that he doesn’t also lighten up depending on the part but picked a good size for his signature sticks especially for the music they make🤌
@YodasDisciple3 күн бұрын
@@Chet_Thornbushel if some drummers use their sticks as a hammer, vessel uses them like scythes. It almost feels to me like he is „slicing“.

II came to, respectfully, f**k shit up and he was completely successful. He definitely earned all the awards from drumeo.

Man i love how ii is bringing more attention to drumming. Especially from non drummers. You hit the off-beat reliance right on the head. Also that remo coated head is undeniable, especially on his dw 6x13 super solid edge. Good video man

II strikes me as one of the few that achieved ghandi level enlightenment(for drumming) as i call it. there is 0 wasted movement, there is no rushing and no dragging. its simply a joy to watch and listen to. i really wanna see them live too

The second I heard sleep token I thought it's either a gospel drummer or someone with some insane internal metronome cause there's so much he does not a lot of people notice. He's just insane. lol

I am glad you're reacting to this. I'd love to see you reacting to the other offerings by II(either the other older ones or the new 1 hour long interview/playthrough on drumeo as well as The Summoning on drumeo as well.) I am sure you're going to love the videos as well, seekng the kicks even better as well his progress from those older videos to the newer stuff. I am also curious to see/hear your cover 🤘🏻

He does this song in the hour long drumeo video as well. He also added a cymbal or 2 since this video. He also plays pretty much all of the electron beats live in all the other songs too
@cerebrix10 ай бұрын
Dude, the drumeo video gave you the roadmap and those of us that have been paying attention to shed session gospel drummers just look at him and go "yep, exactly what he said he was". Remember, he cites his 3 biggest inspirations as Eric Price, Tony Royster Jr, and the drummer I see the most in his playing... Thomas Pridgen. He plays a LOT of Pridgen licks. But his accents are VERY Tony Royster Jr.. II is like the middle point between those two guys. Wanna play like ii? start shedding. You don't get that intimate knowlege of, and the ability to react to subdivision changes with such agility without shedding. It's the one thing built to teach and refine those skills and build that skillset.
@UnXplainable110 ай бұрын
There’s so much Eric Moore in his playing, too. Just in how he uses the closed hats like another tom in fills screams Eric Moore. People are often amazed by jazz drummers, and rightfully so, but for me, gospel drummers are so fun to watch and maybe that’s one reason I was drawn to II immediately. Love seeing the gospel fellas getting some shine when II talks about his influences.

I use Istanbul cymbals and they’re so great. I’d put their budget line, called Xist, up against most of the mid-tier lines of the bigger brands. The dry dark series is awesome. Their effects cymbals are outstanding, too. Highly recommend.

II is so fuckin good man. I love his style too, it's so intricate, groovy, and agile. And what's funny is I'm a guitar player but the cymbal chokes give me the same MMMmph feeling that a well timed pinch harmonic does. I love that shit, it's just so clean and confident.
