The Philippines and Filipinos saved my life. I needed a place to recover and they were so kind and I miss it there a lot. I have Complex PTSD and it put me on the right path. The people are so nice and were super to me. I became an elite technical diver there after having been a PADI rec diver for long time. I dove all over for a year but mostly hug at a place called TechAsia - BEST TECH SHOP in SE ASIA- now I'm getting the therapy I needed it was the segway ...on my way back to Switzerland I stopped through my birth city and saw someone I had no seen in 20+ years and after having learned French, International English, then spending the years just before in Malaysia and Philippines she said, " you haven't lived here in a long time have you? I realized I has taken on a Filipino - Malaysian English accent mashed up with British and Irish ( a buddy at the shop)...I was in Kentucky so it must have sounded ridiculous "la" ,

He was confused as Chinese because he’s an oriental-appearing Filipino. My family (maternal side) aren’t married to any foreigner but people find it hard to believe that we’re related because we are all diverse especially my Mom and her siblings (there were 5 of them. 2 males 3 females.) Mom and the next sibling, my uncle, were Malayan appearing. The third, my aunt, was hispanic appearing, like full caucasian. The 4th, my uncle, looked like Korean and finally the 5th, my aunt, looked like Thai or Japanese. Filipino genetics is crazy.

Brigitte L Jones. Ron Josol is brilliantly funny. He shows authenticity in his understanding of Filipinos. Also kinds of misunderstandings that can exist towards ethnic/racial origins mostly by populations in the US & Canada. He also realises that migrants are aware if this and take it with humour and are capable of making jokes about themselves and other ethnicities, often shocking the "politically correct white population"- hypocrites. He is one of the best, truly hysterical.

We joke that my three year old grand daughter has a Filipino accent, because she pronounces her f's as P's (and vice versa), mixes t's for d's and her v's for b's. Her Filipino Aunty (a close family friend) is obsessed! She also went through a Bluey and Peppa Pig phase where she's say certain words with a British or Aussie accent. So adorable
