Another great video, Mike. Thanks for taking the effort of filming & editing. Can't speak for anyone else but I greatly appreciate it.You have hit on a winning formula - lot of sailing clips, instructional content, boat handling, pilotage & navigation - all with a large dose of humour & bonhomie. Good luck finding another yacht. It's going to be interesting. Chin-chin.

One of the most excellent sailing channels on the tube. Pleasant, unrushed, very well filmed. Thanks! Excited to subscribe. Sad to see the gaffer go, she’s beautiful, but it is fun indeed to experience a different boat.

This video reminded me of the Riddle of the Sands... beautifully illustrated! After some hairy drying outs I purchased a Plastimo hand-held depthfinder to test all around the boat when there is still water. As she is a high-legged twin keeler, this gives me more peace of mind when I can’t see the bottom.

I've been blown off course in my efforts to get my own sailing going with Covid and all, just one trip on Ulswater so far so videos like this keep me going. Hoping to move on from my gaff dinghy to something bigger someday and chances are it will be in North Wales on something like Sea ma Chilli, I just like traditional rigs of all shapes and sizes. Looking foward to your next adventures

Iv seen a Slocum type yacht with Rubbing rails that canter levered down & had a pipe go frew them into the ground as legs , great set up & a French Alloy 50 footer witch had a TANK track in the bottom of the keel run on hydraulics come lumbering up the beach in Lumet in Malaya , Stepped off & came up to the bar ( Got stuck there for 2 weeks) some thing to do with the barmaids & Whisky . Nice vid , Nothing better then a clean bum & a fresh broad reach . Fair winds - Enjoy , Lifes not a rehearsal .

I noticed your comment on getting a new boat. I’ve got a Marvin Tomahawk 25 over at Dickies. It’s a complete project boat cos it flooded with rain water while on the hard. Free to a good home if you are short of something to do. I’ve now got Pegasus on the river.

Interesting to see the use of the legs, did they come with the boat, or did you make them yourself. No careening posts in the area?

Hiya will hopefully get to use the legs in the next good high pressure. In Conwy less than a mile from the marina is the wall with two scrubbing berths. I’ve not used the wall or the legs due to weather still providing sailing opportunities mike

Hi Mike, I have a Crabber 24 similar to yours and have only just found your channel. I am really enjoying your videos 👍 and I am interested in where you bought your beaching legs any info would be appreciated. Cheers, Chris
@sailingcosiloveit
@sailingcosiloveit 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris they are the home made variety. Just get two different diameter alloy tubes, one that will fit into the other. Make a foot out of plate and weld it on or get it welded on. Make two top fittings similar to what I have done. You can see them clearly in my vlog. No through hull fittings needed. Drill holes in a few different places for using on walls and set them two inches short of the draft at the midship cleats for drying out. Couple of ropes and hey presto legs mike
