I also went option 3 and took it to my LBS. My mechanic was just like Zach and handled the business for me. Also did the bearings too while I was at it. Saved a ton of money and supported the LBS. I went home and took care of the rest of the ratchet upgrade. They have a legit upgrade “LN” kit now which is what I did. Nice video happy to see you support your LBS when you can.

the nice part about having the tool though is you could have taken the entire hub apart and cleaned the bearings and regressed them nicely that way your entire hub is fresh while you're in there since you won't be taking it out again for a while and it's nice to do the refresh while you're upgrading the ratchet.

@@RydenDirty yeah but to your original point if you're just going to do it once it's nice to know it's an easy cheap job taking it to the bike shop but if you're going to use it over the years it can be worth it. I've been on DT Swiss 240 EXP hubs. I'm considering trying the industyr9 hydras but at the same time DT Swiss has treated me well so not sure if I'll end up doing it.

@@RydenDirty ya same I run the xm481's on my trail bike and the EX 511 on my enduro both with 240 EXP hubs w/ 54t ratchets. They've been really good wheels and hubs. I've thought about going with some ethirteen carbon wheels and either ethirteen or i9 hydra hubs but can't really complain about the DT Swiss they're great and the hubs never cause me any issue. also the wheels aren't much heavier than carbon but def a little more compliant and probably will take more of a beating.

Good job bro. On the DT Swiss 370 it's a little more work to do the upgrade. Luckily I did the conversion to 54t ratchet for under $60 on the DT 350 and took like 2 minutes to install 😆. I'll tell you that the DT Swiss hubs are bomb proof and super reliable. Have fun with the better engagement, as it's a big upgrade from both the 18t & 36t imho. 😎

I bought the new seal and it worked perfect. it does fit differently than the original one. I believe as long as its a ratchet seal it should work

@@RydenDirty DT Swiss 370 hub, used all the parts, and assembled correctly. I did also change the GX Eagle cassette at the same time as the old one had worn. I thought it might be an issue with that, but swapped back to old one and have the same problem. After another look I've found the cassette/ hub freewheels fine on the bike when the boost thru axel is inserted, however when I tighten the thru axel up the hub locks. I'm so close, but yet so far :0

I read that somewhere that when installing the new lockring nut that sometimes the shim can slip slightly, so it's not centred and seated on the bearing correctly, checked and this was the problem. All sorted - I now have the sound of the buzzing bees, just need to get out and ride now! Thanks for your help, top man!

@ managed to get a kit with 36T on Amazon for just over $100 which I think is a good compromise of strength vs engagement and it’s for gravel not MTB. Also cheap tools on Amazon so I should be all in for less than $150 and be able to do it myself. Thanks for the vid.

Is the ratchet system better? I only have the ratchet system by chance. Instead of the dt swiss grease I used slickoleum when i upgraded to the 54 and 36 tooth ratchet...hopefully it holds up

Hey dude. I’m thinking of doing the same as I have an old non boost dt 240 ratchet driver to put into the 370. Called DT SWISS and they recommended against it as they said the driver doesn’t seal correctly and will blow out in a month or so. Can I ask, have you had issues with it sealing correctly?

@@Redzuano I'm doing this conversion and the 240 seal doesn't fit properly in the 370 hub. The 240 seal is press fit with a tool into a 240 hub but on the 370 hub it fits loosely in the hub. The bore on the 370 hub is larger than the o.d. of the 240 seal.
