OVERVIEW 👇
Installing or replacing a dual screen or creating a multi monitor set up with two screens can cause issues with the setup of your mouse. This is related to monitor alignment or monitor arrangement, so the mouse doesn't move correctly between monitors. This can be more pronounced with monitors of different resolutions.
This video assumes that you have a multiple display setup and you have chosen 'extend these displays' and NOT 'duplicate these displays'.

🔴 Issue 1: Monitor Mis-alignment - Dual Screens Not Able To Move Mouse To Second Screen
The problem - it's very difficult to move your mouse to the second screen as highlighted. When you're able to move the mouse cursor to the second monitor, mouse goes off screen on top left of the right hand monitor and appears bottom left of screen on left monitor. So the mouse is not lining up. So from a workflow or productivity point of view this is impractical. There is an easy fix!
✅ Solution 1: Align two computer monitors correctly.
1. Go to display settings - type 'display settings' in the search box bottom left of screen.
2. Choose 'duplicate or extend to a connected display'.
3. When display settings page opens, go to 'rearrange your displays'.
4. Check which are monitors 1 & 2, by clicking 'identify', so you're working on the correct monitor.
5. To align the displays, drag them into line as shown and click 'apply'.
6. You're done! If the issue was monitor misalignment, this should have been corrected. You should be able to move the mouse to your second screen correctly, as well as relevant apps you're using.
🔶 IF THE ABOVE DOES NOT FIX MOUSE CURSOR ISSUE, SEE ISSUE & SOLUTION 2 BELOW 👇
🔴 Issue 2: Monitor Arrangement - Dual Screens Not Able To Move Mouse To Second Screen
The problem: whilst the mouse can move to the second screen, and is aligned, you have to go to the far edge of one monitor and the mouse then appears on the opposite far edge of the second monitor. You can't move your mouse to the other screen easily / logically. Again from a workflow/productivity standpoint, this is not good. Again there is an easy solution.
✅ Solution 2 : Arrange two PC screens correctly.
1. Go to display settings - type 'display settings' in the search box bottom left of screen.
2. Choose 'duplicate or extend to a connected display'.
3. When the display settings page opens, go to the top of the screen to 'rearrange your displays'.
4. Check which are monitors 1 & 2, by clicking 'identify', ensuring you're working on the correct screen.
5. You'll need to rearrange your displays. Drag the monitor across to the relevant position (opposite side) on screen using your mouse as shown. Ensure the screens are also aligned.
6. Click 'apply'.
7. You're done. If the problem was a monitor arrangement issue, this should correct things - you should be able to move the mouse to your other screen correctly i.e. across centre of the screens.

@@oirasor15 I just unplugged my second monitor, restarted my pc, made sure my mouse and monitor options are on my MAIN screen, (my left monitor) and plugged the 2nd monitor back in so it would appear on the monitor options. was able to put the 2nd screen in its correct place because my mouse and options were on my main screen, being the left one.

Thanks alot. This video saved my life and sanity yesterday. I work from home for a high street bank. As well as not being able to move my mouse both monitors had the wrong systems popping up I couldn't service the customers accts. It was sending me into meltdown. I gave remote access to our IT dept they were useless, had to put customer on hold and watch your KZbin video.

God I absolutely love being able to search and understand tech videos. I got all kinds of messed up and it was for work. Everybody in my training was advancing and I was stressing because My second screen wasn’t working. I found a different display port and then I went ahead and did the settings myself. I just added an external display...a 2nd monitor to my surface for large excel spreadsheets. The mouse would only exit the surface screen to the right and enter 2nd on it's left...but i have the 2nd monitor setup sort of above the surface. In settings>display I dragged the display icons one over the other...and it worked!! Now the mouse goes from top of the surface screen to the bottom of the 2nd display screen. Two thumbs up!! Niether of these problems is mine but I think you may have solved my problem by mistake. I have a 3840x2160 display and wasn't sure if I could use a full hd monitor as a second and it seems you have, thanks.
