Great video we have a x32 at front of house connected via AES50 A to digital snake; and on the foh x32 the AES50B goes to Power play to use the several p16. We just bought the Midas 32R to connect to the Digital snake AES50B to the Midas 32R AES50A. We would like to set up so we can have access and independently mix all channels on coming from the digital snake... what would be the best way to connect Midas 32R. Any help would greatly appreciated. We are looking to have a better mix for our Midas 32R for broadcasting live church worship service. We also , would like to connect three crowd mics to the back of the Midas 32R and record the sermons through the usb connection

I am not only new to the x32 but to live sound as well. You have a wonderful skill for breaking things down to easily understood and managed steps. Thanks for all your efforts. I am follow this linking video to a "T' as I am using the compact and Rack for the same purposes in my band. My question is how to route stereo monitor "outs" back from the monitor mixer (rack) to the snakes? (I am two SD16's and setting up 4 IEM stereo mixes)
@AWTechTuesday
@AWTechTuesday 7 жыл бұрын
Hey Rich! Thanks for watching and commenting. Is there a reason you're planning to use the Outs from the snake instead of the Outs from the monitor console? For you to send Outs to the snakes, your monitor console would need to connect to the A port of the snakes. In this video, we're going FOH > Snakes > Monitors. Instead, you could go FOH > Monitors > Snakes. The routing would be a little different because you would need to pass through you FOH outputs to the Monitor console in order to get them to the snakes. This may be a less efficient signal path, but it should work. I hope that made sense. Haha. -Chad

The reason is that the snake was right next to the monitors on the front of the stage. Three of the Guys were going wired IEM because they couldn't afford the investment just now. That meant long runs of cable from the Rack. If everyone was wireless like I am then out from the rack would be preferred. I will probably sort out some intermediate junction box for the Monitor outs. That way they wont yank the cords out of the console or trip over them. I think the FOH>Mon>Snake option would mean ceding Gain control to the Monitor console which I don't want to do . Thanks for the comeback Chad. You are the man!
@AWTechTuesday

You could give gain control to FOH by HA Remote from the Setup -> Preamps menu.

Picked up some useful tips here, thanks! Just a thought, what is the advantage of routing it this way, and not linking the 2 desks together directly and using the HA Gain split, and enabling the HA Gain control via AES50?
@AWTechTuesday
@AWTechTuesday 7 жыл бұрын
Excellent question. There are several ways to do this. On the latest install we did, I thought of doing what you said: X32 -> X32 Rack -> Digital Snakes. In that instance, I decided not to since, if anything happened to the X32 Rack, we would lose all control of sound from FOH. You could also connect from the B port of the X32 to the X32 Rack but then your cabling doubles. A major advantage of having the consoles directly connected like you suggest is that you could then send signals from Mons to FOH as well. This is nice if you want to be able to solo in-ear mixes at FOH so you can help wirelessly mix ears if necessary. For this church, that wasn't an option (because of the number of mixes needed), so that's one of the reasons I decided to do the routing this way. Again, EXCELLENT question. Thank you for watching and commenting! -Chad

just a heads up Behringher have updated the X32 edit software and firmware. The newest builds of X32 Edit software have a completely new GUI (that doesn't mirror the look of the console). Works better on a touch screen though. The old builds of X32 Edit don't work with the latest firmware.

Waddup Chad! Hey, thinking of expanding our setup to adding a monitor console/rack. Is it possible to have (4) FOH sends basically Main L and R, Subs, and Fill. Go to the Stage box, and have the other 12 for in ear mixes for the band? The reason we are wanting to expand is to free up Buss mixes at FOH to send to our Streaming.
@AWTechTuesday
@AWTechTuesday 5 жыл бұрын
Sure. You can send up to 6 feeds from FOH to Mons via an Aux-In Remap. You could then route those channels to the stage box through your monitor console. -Chad

Hi Chad, I have a question, that I hope you can answer. I have an X32 Compact for FOH, and an M32R for monitors then an S32 and SD16 rack units. I would like to use all 16 outputs from the S32 for in ears (large group doing stereo in ears). Then I would like to use some of the outputs from the SD16 for my main speakers (and possibly a couple monitors for the choir director etc). Watching your video I was able to get my units sharing inputs, but I'm confused on how to route my main outs to the SD16. The switch on the SD16 is set to 17-24. Currently I'm running the cables like: X32(FOH A) to S32(A) - S32B to SD16A - SD16B to M32A. I see all devices connected in the X32. Just don't know how to make the main outputs from the X32 go to the SD16.

May I ask a question? I have a home studio divided in 2 rooms. 1st room with keyboards (stage piano, 3 synths, 2 mics, acoutic and electric guitar. The second room has Roland V-Drums, mics, stage piano, guitar, sequencer, etc. I'd like to unite the 2 rooms. Actually in the 1st room, there is a pair of XLR cables going out from the monitor output of a Focusrite Scarlett. It goes to a pair of INPUT of the X32 console in the 2nd room. (so, I don't get individual tracks from what is playing in the 1st room... I got the synths, vocals, all on the same track unless I record it on a DAW in that room with the focusrite). With in Ear Monitor I can listen to any of the buses I want from the X32 console, I can listen to it in both rooms, but the recording setup isn't great at all. I'd like to be able to play and record from any room. I'd like to be able to have individual tracks for all instruments. MY QUESTIONS: Is it a good idea to add an X32 rack to an X32 console instead of going for a digital snake? In total, I would probably never use more than 32 inputs at the same time in total (both rooms). An X32 rack seems to have more flexiblility, price tag difference is not a real issue. If I do go for an X32 rack, would I need 2 AES50 Cat5e cables or just one between both X32?
@AWTechTuesday
@AWTechTuesday 3 жыл бұрын
An X32Rack would save on space. It has the same mix engine as the full X32. You can connect the 2 consoles via 1 EtherCON cable. Now, just because you have 2 32-channel mixers, don’t think you’ll simply get 64 inputs to your DAW. Each USB card can only send and receive 32 channels. However, you could theoretically connect both cards to one DAW if synced correctly. Or, you could get a DN9630 and send 48 channels from one console to your DAW. -Chad

this is not working for me, we have a main midas m32 and a broadcast behringer X32, and a DL32. When we switched the routing of both boards to AES1-32, and changed the clock settings of the second board it seemed to work fine, then I started working on getting our FOH PC sound out to the Broadcast board, and so I started to review your video and then proceeded to "correct" the AES outputs on the FOH board from 17-48 to 1-32 and then reroute on the Broadcast board route 1-32 from the AES17-48 on the Broadcast board. Now no sound seems like it's coming through to the Broadcast board. You're video makes sense to me, yet with the boards it doesn't appear to work, and yet routing the 'default' way (which is outputting multiple copies of out 1-8 and out 9-16 is confusingly seeming to work)

Hi I looked over the replies, but I think I'm trying something little different. I'm working a venue that has an x32 console and a midas dl32 stage box. I will be running a band who brings their own x32 rack to which all of their inputs are connected. The main l/r and aux subs are on the venues stage box at 31 and 32, 30. In addition using talk back from the venues foh console to their items would be a big help. I'm probably confusing myself. Since the input would be coming from the x32 rack in an I get this to work by just connecting x32 A to x32 Rack A and x32 Rack B to Midas DL32 A? If so, is their a way to write the routing out for me easily? Love your videos!

Im still a bit confused on 1 thing. How does AES-A automatically connect to AES-B internally? Youre saying that if you connect a monitor console to AES-B on the DL32, it automatically takes AES-A and outputs to the INPUTs on the monitor board? It just knows to do this auotmatically?

Hi, tanks for the video's! Question. in our band we installing somthing like this setup but why is the FOH consel the Master and gets the "Gain" control and the monitor consel the Trim control. We are also practische with this set up so in that case there is no FOH consel. I was thinking to make the set up the other way around. make the Monitor consel the master. This is because wen we are on stage just plug in and we are ready. the FOH consel can make his adjustments with the trim? Why not to do that?

Why would you need a separate monitor console rather than just programming the monster groups in the main console and routing them to monitor speakers?
@AWTechTuesday
@AWTechTuesday 6 жыл бұрын
Good question. When I refer to a monitor mixer, I mean a mixer for multiple sets of in-ear mixes in a live environment. If a band is using stereo in-ears, you will run out of mix busses very quickly. Having a separate monitor mixer allows 16 more busses to accommodate up to 8 stereo packs. It also means that you can process those channels differently for the people on stage compared to how you may have to process them in the live room. Thanks for watching and commenting! -Chad

@@AWTechTuesday in our church we use one x32 rack for monitors only. The person who use LR as monitors, the keyboard player in our case, is conected to that mixer using either IOS or android app. With one important distinction. He,or she, is not conected on some bus for monitor but on main. So in this case the main on that mixer is totaly usefull as a monitor and totaly controlabile. And because is a static position we use the mixer headphone out to feed that person headphones. Have a great day brother👑

Great video! I was wondering tho... using P16's, if you put the BGV's in a bus post fader so the band can hear them better if they are turned up to sing lead, how do those using the BGV mic's get a consistent in-ear mix where they can hear it good when singing BGV's, but not have it blast when it gets turned up in FOH for them to sing lead? Do you still have a separate channel on the P16 for each mic, and then a channel with all the post-fader mics on it?
