Loved your reaction! I think it can mean a few things, but for ppl with an autoimmune disease it is certainly easy to relate to 'save me from myself', no matter what you do, your own cells are attacking you, you are self destruction. I'm also think autoimmunity is a big part of the "maybe I'm meant to live in a state of anti-survival". Our bodies are constantly attacking themselves in potentially deadly ways, it's a cycle of self-destruction that we don't initiate and have limited ways to escape.

You’re the first reactor I’ve watched who knew who Nigella Lawson is! This is a great reaction, you got really deep into the psychology of it. In his most recent live Ren said that he’s in a better place now than back when he wrote this and the last several songs he’s released.

Such a fricking masterpiece. The contrast between the raw rapping and beautiful singing is just perfect and the production is amazing. Ren is truly something special. Also I love all the little bits of reoccurring lyrics throughout these songs. It’s like everything is connected in a Reniverse tapestry and I can’t wait to hear how the entire album works together. Clever, creative, and so authentic 🐰🕳️

Thanks for your reaction Duane. I think the bit about pulling his socks up are his own words to himself because there is a mirror, so its like hes having a word with himself. He knows it's whack but cant find the other side. Its tough when you are in that cycle

Ruminate: Verb. - think deeply about something. "we sat ruminating on the nature of existence" Makes sense homie lol. Also, yeah, you totally hit the nail on the head imo. Love the talking points getting brought to popular music lately. Ren, Oliver Anthony, etc. And just love the music itself lol

Damn man.... You deserve to be able to feel how you feel, people who don't accept/acknowledge how they feel end up pushing those feelings down and causing more damage to themselves. No matter what hell other people are going through, your feelings are just as valid as theirs are, it's nice to be empathetic towards others but you have to have empathy for yourself as well, be well my fellow "human being".

As far as Nigella Lawson goes, I suspect that Ren is living vicariously watching cooking programmes. He’s is on a strict diet and there is very little that he can eat, poor thing. 😢

introvert- have all the plans to go out but then find every reason to stay in, Covid lock down wasn't an issue, plan for anything that could happen when you are out, rather be alone " you're your own party" and last but not least hate small talk and compliments. I think I feel what you touched on about others having little or no empathy for the pain of others ESPECIALLY conditions that have no obvious outward physical symptoms (toothache, backache. MENTAL ILLNESS). Its unfortunate that people get in a bag where, their 'sickness' (whatever it may be) has brought them a certain amount of attention from people. Maybe some choose to 'stay' in that because it serves them somehow. (THAT IS NOT TO IMPLY THAT IS WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH REN'S LYRICS BTW) Seems like some become hypochondriac. Its part of what I think adds to the stigma of mental illness and other conditions and why many suffer instead of talking about it or seeking treatment or what have you. Loved your reaction.

For every person, they can only set the bar for a 10 and how far down you can go before you hit 0 based on their own experience. For myself, in terms of physical pain I set the bar for a 10 as when I had a heart attack. But that doesn't mean what I felt is as bad as say being burned. It's just a 10 based on my own experience. But the same things apply to what it takes to be at a 10 for emotional happiness, fulfillment, or love, Or for depression, pain, or self-loathing. So you do the best you can to keep empathy as you look at someone else's pain or depression and to understand that their 10 could be different than yours.

9:39 - It's a really hard subject to handle it well, but I think you managed to pull it off. Sadness =/= grief =/= depression. Sadness is ephemeral and comes and goes, grief is often a response to life events and can persist, depression is a whole system state that persists in spite of or in absence of events that would "justify" it. Before you diagnose yourself with depression or anxiety, make sure your life isn't actually fucked up. Feeling fucked up at a fucked up time in a fucked up place is a perfectly sane response.
