@dianamnajarro51194 жыл бұрын
@@antonissa8345 there are different types of toxic relationships, Donald and Daisy are commonly portrayed to be a Toxic Relationship while not actually being one. They are constantly shown to be arguing, fighting, and ignoring eachother, sometimes without a satisfying resolution. Their arguments and fights stem (more often than not) from miscommunication and misunderstandings. Because they have a tendency to overreact, they tend to pick a fight with eachother before getting their facts straight. In the older cartoons, there was a lot of focus on the fight itself and not on what started it or how it was resolved mostly done for the comedic effect. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse actually had a few episodes where Micky and Goofy help Donald talk with Daisy after one of their fights. Their relationship isn't toxic, it just portrayed that way. Their fights and arguments don't last more than a few minutes to a few hours, and it usually resolved once they put aside their stubbornness and pride. Any longer and they start missing eachother and forget they why they were mad in first place.

This episode is a shining example of how the rebooted Ducktales has improved some classic Disney characters by reimagining them while keeping them true to their roots, or has entirely reimagined them as new characters completely and for the better. After all, the triplets have basically always been a hive mind- three characters with no stand out traits or personality or quirks all their own. Yet here, Louie's still a mischievous schemer who is more obsessed with making a quick buck, but Dewey wants to stand out for himself and is adventurous and Huey is the play it safe kid who wants to learn and explore. And given their arcs from the previous two seasons and how they have evolved as characters, they really have become well rounded and dynamic characters that embody a certain trait of Scrooge's while still being their own character separate from the other two. And I really appreciate these versions of Huey, Dewey, and Louie. As for Donald and Daisy, well... I ADORED them in this episode and the series as a whole in Donald's case. Donald here is the perfect amalgamation of previous traits and character points from all the years he's been around. Donald has his drop of a hat anger and trademark bad luck, but he's also clever, resourceful, and this version gives Goofy a run for his money for the best Disney father figure, as this version of Donald, above all others, I love for his devotion to his family. After all, that classic Donald anger is used to protect his family and makes the moments Donald does fly into a frenzy awesome rather than being used as a joke. And in general, this version of Donald just wants to do right for his family, which makes him incredibly endearing and someone you want to root for, as even if the misfortunes are funny, the fact Donald tries so hard to take care of his family makes him a very likeable character. And then there's Daisy, who's shown here to not be the toxic nag she often comes off as, but rather she's just being presented as stressed from a high pressure job and can relate to Donald's struggles to be heard by others, which gives them common ground and endears them to one another. She also shows more similarities to Donald when she beats the snot out of Falcon Graves after Donald gets hurt, showing they both have a violent side they WILL unleash to protect people they care about. And that's what I love about them. Daisy being able to understand Donald perfectly is like one of those "they are destined to be together" moments that just turns my heart to mush and how they interact when they aren't working against each other in Louie's heist, they just come off as a wholesome, positive relationship and I absolutely love how their origin happened and how they have been written as being so good to one another. I am very much looking forward to Daisy returning and seeing where they take Donald and Daisy's relationship period. Just because this series alone made me love Donald Duck, so I'm absolutely in favor of any time Donald gets in the spotlight.

I personally prefer hive-mind nephews. I don't see how it's objectively better to have three seperate characters versus a single character split into three units - Especially in a show like this where the cast is already really bloated and everybody's competing for screentime. But it was probably done to not make Webby stick out as an odd one of the group, I'm assuming.

@wootmasterzorsx4 жыл бұрын
Adlai Stevenson I mean, that's fine if you like the older characterization for the triplets, but I never said it was objectively better. I just prefer this because having three different characters is more entertaining to me than one character copy and pasted. I always felt the triplets before were rather bland and lacked much personality beyond trouble makers who give Donald a hard time. Whereas these versions of Huey, Dewey, and Louie are able to have much different and varied characters dynamics with other characters and each other. Like episodes like McMystery at McDuck McManor or Secrets of Castle McDuck allow the triplets to go off on adventures where they are more than an echo chamber and instead actually play off their individual quirks and personalities. And also, with individualized triplets, we can have focus episodes exploring one of the three that other versions of the characters can't as easily experience, like Astro B.O.Y.D., Raiders of the Doomsday Vault, or The Richest Duck in the World, that allow for individual character growth or just seeing what makes them tick, while also allowing us to see how the triplets act with other characters in the show. Or even episodes where one brother sits things out and the other two get to show their dynamic like this episode for Dewey and Louie or Depths of Cousin Fethry for Huey and Dewey. If you prefer the hive mind triplets, that's perfectly okay. In a show like the original Ducktales, which I watched quite a bit of, or the older Disney shorts, they work fine like that. This is just down to my personal preference, though, so it's not something objectively better either way.

Which would be great if they actually go with it, but Daisy's nieces are ones that rarely pop up, though there's been a couple times. Gosalyn and Honker could be intro'd with a cameo as Jr Woodchucks easily enough, the triplets can probably be handled easily enough since you have a lot of the same animators from the Legend of the Three Caballeros series that heavily featured them, and getting the voices wouldn't be that hard. And April, May, & June are linked to Daisy, who's now in Ducktails already. As more of a joke off of their original thing where it was more of a thing that the two sets of triplets got stuck in a double date thing, perhaps have an episode with a Donald/Daisy date with both sets deciding to spy on them for it...easy enough callback and intro.

I really didn't like Donald and Daisy in most iterations of them, and that sometimes bordered on hate for one or both of them depending on what direction the story took. They often cross the line to being downright abusive, and I don't find that funny at all. "Ball and chain" humor is very "are the straights ok?" to me. (See the subreddit r/arethestraightsok for examples of what I mean.) Daisy also gets an even shorter stick most of the time with having a lot less screen time, and when she does writers often seem to not know how to give her a personality beyond 'abusive and vain.' This whole show though, having Donald be the doting uncle for his boys and now showing this caring and passionate side of Daisy, it's just. MMM yes. What I always wanted for them but never got.

From what I know, Daisy's first screen appearance, 'Don Donald', could be seen as the moment where Donald meets Daisy for the first time, but it's not made very clear, and Donald is basically playing the 'latin lover' in this short. Also, the very thing that set's Donald, and Daisy apart from Mickey, and Minnie is how dysfunctional they are together, and while it does tend to lean more towards the 'ball & chain' trope you get on say, 'Married With Children', this episode's approach through communication is a fresh idea on how Donald, and Daisy get the ball rolling.

I think the reason why Donald was standing in front of the mic at the begining of the episode is because he's the one who wrote the song so he wanted to be the one to sing it too even tho he's not the lead singer. I don't think it was said but it makes a lot of sense. If you look at the lyrics they fit Donald's perfectly. Because of his voice, Donald feels disconnected from the people around him, he feels like no one understands him. He lacks confidence in himself and he knows he could never perform this song the way he wants to but he still wants to try because it's very personal to him. And that's what this song is about, he wants his voice to reach out and he wants a connection with someone who will understand him. And he found that with Daisy

Even then it wasn't having a conversation more in the 90s sitcom style of trying to keep Daisy from discovering something. Has it really been 25 years since Daisy has interacted with the boys?

@samuraiforever91204 жыл бұрын
it be funny if Daisy is who introduces Donald to Mickey. though it's likely Donald either attended Mousetown university and met Goofy, Mickey, and the two other member of Cabs.

This is one of my favorite epsodes of the whole show, Donald and Daisy relashionship is the most heathy version I ever see and they're super cute. Dewey is shinning and Dj Daft Duck making his apareance again is the gran finale. My boys Panchito and Zé are back. And Mark Beaks apareance was soo ridículous, but I still loved

On your shelf under the funkos, are those Shakespeare manga?
@seaniccus4 жыл бұрын
Under the funkos on the left shelf, it's art books, books about writing and journalism history books. On the right shelf, it's indie graphic novels and DC Comics Showcase collections for The Flash, Teen Titans and Legion of Super-Herors. Below that is peter pan books and more I did novels, and Disney Comics ok the lower shelf. The shf above the toys (two shelves above Funko) is where all the Manga and Japanese language books are, includi books on Japanese history and Japanese baseball. No Shakespeare manga, though. Is it good?

I really hope they give the same treatment to the other shows from the Disney Afternoon they seem to be incorporating into this shared universe like Goof Troop, Tailspin, Rescue Rangers, and Darkwing Duck. With more character growth and complex relationships. Making Jim Starling into Negaduck with an almost tragic origin story was awesome, Having Goofy a warm hearted Family man who just happens to be accident prone, and Showing some kind of science was behind the rodents of the Rescue Rangers cast achieving intelligence was a good explanation as well. I can see them expanding this to other shows and characters that originally weren't all that interesting, for Tailspin I can see Molly being made less insufferable and perhaps, like Webby, being more adventurous and cunning but retaining that childlike innocence. Perhaps Baloo and Rebecca's relationship being a bit more developed and evolving over time from petty loathing, to mutual respect, friendship, and perhaps more. Heck, make Wildcat more of a savant who despite his goofy and dumb exterior is actually brilliant at times like how they made Launchpad more than just a pilot who crashes all the time. There is a lot of potential in giving classic characters makeovers and writing them as more relatable and interesting while still preserving what made them memorable.

@@batman369able rights? The whole shows cast were from the animated Jungle Book movie. Disney made a live action version only a couple years ago, how do they not hold the rights?
@batman369able4 жыл бұрын
@@ReaverLordTonus only Baloo, Shere Khan and Louie were in the Jungle Book and those movies were adaptations of Ruyard Kiplings short stories. Kit and Molly were shown as adults in the promo for Ducktales so I guess it might be possible that Baloo could show up in a flashback. At the same time, Disney did lose the rights to Tarzan so it's not impossible that it could've happened with the Jungle Book characters.
