Even the cheapest Kuberg Freerider is $1000 dollars more than a Sur Ron and only puts out 8kW on a 42V 20ah battery. In other words, only 30% more power on a much, much smaller battery. It is lighter, but that wont make up for the lack of range.

@@SmokytheBear6969 I wouldn't call it garbage, but every part of the bike they manufacture or have custom manufactured is build as cheaply as possible. I mean, look at the frame ffs. They can call it weight savings all they want, but I call it flimsy. Battery as well. They went with very low voltage and very high amp draw. That means the already tiny battery will drain crazy fast at anything near full throttle. I'm also not sure what that does to a battery in terms of longevity. So garbage, idk, but definitely over priced and strangely designed.

@@nxdboi I've ridden and ride with a Talaria sting. I like the rear axel slide for chain adjustment. The bigger cells are needed but have seen consumption rate eat the battery more on the Talaria. I'd go with it if ur a bigger guy. But as of now the Sur-Ron has it beat the weight does make a difference in feel and power. Plus the Sur-Ron has more after martket parts atm. Great bike all around just wish they wouldn't have key'd the connections to make it easier on the consumer. Grats on ur Talaria

best 48v bike I've ever had, only thing I changed was getting a custom swing arm with a bit longer and wider for a wider wheel and tyre for more traction and for the first time ever I didn't feel like it needed a 72v because it's so light and quick the extra torque would just make it harder to get the power down

Was gonna order one but too many people have complained on other sites due to the inbuilt battery and poor workmanship, so I called my local ebike dealer and she flatly refuses to sell them for these reasons, sadly enough here in Australia the Sur Ron’s are also having major issues in terms of workmanship and that the belts get worn out and it’s hard to get the replacements whilst the Talaria Sting hasn’t had any issues, so in one month when it’s street legal I am getting one, pity about this bike it looks like it has promise but if it can’t deliver in the long run there’s no point in getting it,

I'd bet this is using 26650 li-on cells, with 30a discharge each, 10s10p pack. Without doing any seaches. Steve, SHOW ME THE MONEY. I MEAN, BATTERIES. 48v x 300a = 14,400. I wanna see some close ups of the bike, the components, controller, battery. Must be some thick awg cable to handle those amps. Strange approach. It's usually easier to increase voltage. If the controller could handle 72v, that would be 21.6kw

that would be 13S for 48V, however i bet they might be 21700s as 26650 is not as common and as much produced, and actually worse in general, good 21700s have similar capacity and higher discharge current, most 26650's sit at 5000mAh and only 20-30A discharge current Samsung 21700-40T's can do a max discharge current of 35A and have about 3950mAh capacity, but you can fit much more of em in the same space, that is because most companies don't take the 26650 size seriously anymore and don't improve it anymore, mainly because there's no benefit in having em that large for most LEV's, sad but true

Curious but how many times you had to deal with tires? I'm finding out with tires less then 3 to 4 inches of speeds over 20mph puts a lot of pressure stress abuse of encountering rough, bumpy terrain of streets. With 2 inch tires, the need to ease up every obstacle is a MUST from ruining your rim( front wheel) more than the tire tubes.

this has a bhp /tonne of about 158, if my rough calculation is correct (probably not haha). bhp (14000 /735 = 19 hp) x 1000 kg (a metric tonne) divided by 120kg (weight of rider and bike assuming rider is 80 kg and bike is about 40kg). which is very fast hot hatch territory! it has the aerodynamics far worse than a brick though, so top speed reflects that. love to see this motor in a velomobile with appropriate gearing lol

This is a sick bike and all but you can make a Sur Ron 72v w/ the huge battery and lifted battery cover and a BAC4000 or BAC8000 controller and make them twice as fast but IDK if the Kuburg can be modded.... Maybe basic shunt mods and stuff but I think they're already custom controllers.

Sur - Ron's and Kubergs are not allowed on trains or trams where I live if you flatten your battery away from home . This is a "BIG DISADVANTAGE" for these throttle bike mopeds . I have seen them with flat batteries in a remote location . They then have to be towed for a fee .

Sounds like the controller wanting higher Volt battery. I have same sound on 2000watt of using battery from my 1500watt. The battery I'm using is for 1500watt 52v as when it is on the 2000watt, the sound is from controller wanting the standard specs for 2000watt.

Hey Steve. Pretty cool ebike, but you cant throw down the gauntlet without backing it up with a head to head race against a Sur Ron. Can you put your cell phone with a speedometer app indicating speed on the handle bar to show us real time acceleration and top speed? Do a range test. Also give us an inside look at the battery, controller, motor and wires? Measure the temperature of the motor, controller, and battery after aggressive riding. Thanks Steve.

Apparently in the UK you can, but I wouldn’t get one due to the high amount of mechanical issues and the difficulty of getting spare parts also the battery is in build. My local dealer has stated flat out that she will not sell them for this reason and that the best street legal off road e bike is the Talaria Sting with its in built gearbox, hopefully getting one before Christmas

The only thing I don't like about a lot of E-Bikes is the extremely LOUD whiring and whining noise the motors are emitting. This sound broadcasts to everyone around "Hey everyone ! - E-Bike is coming !" Especially to bord police with nothing better to do than to pull over a whirring E-Bike and check your papers ! Why do so many of the larger wattage hub motors have gears in them ? I thought there was always the option to have gearless hub motors (Which I understand to be more efficient) ?
