Welcome to The Vintage Read Show!
My name is Shauna and I upload 3/4 times a week, so make sure you subscribe and hit the notify bell to ensure you don't miss any.
Every Wednesday evening we meet up for A Gossip Before Bed, in our PJs and your favourite beverage.
Weekly there is A Snarky Snippet, in-depth book reviews, Premieres with live chat, and well-researched opinion pieces on current Royal events.
We have a lovely, friendly community here so join in via the comments and share your thoughts,
I look forward to reading them!
Shauna x I wanted to publish a counterargument to Prince Harry’s call for censorship. Harry asked tech platforms to not publish anything they would not want their own children to see!
An alarming heavy-handed solution that would give censorship powers to tech platforms. No one in the mainstream media challenged him on this idea…no-one ever really challenges them! Except for independent thinkers on KZbin!

I expect Megsy told him to say that along with the rest of his faltering speech full of hesitations as he tried to remember his words. He didn’t look comfortable at all nor in control of himself. Megsy watched him the whole time to make sure he got his words out like a good little boy. Considering he has been raised and trained on how to be in front of an audience and give speeches he looked like a scared little boy being made by mummy to say something at her party.

The thing is, that is what Harry wants: all media censored to his own liking. He's said it straight, "The First Amendment is bonkers." It's a very good thing he is so far from the throne. Also, without actually bringing his children into it, what you described is a level of parenting that takes a lot of effort, and presence in your children's lives - Harry's proposal does what he does with every other part of his life: pushes it onto someone else's plate. I don't know why so many people listen to them, either - neither of them have any expertise or experience that earns a place opining on any particular issue, or industry.

Harry's statement in The First Amendment was on a specific aspect of the media, but Harry isn't challenged publicly by an intelligent person because he is CORRECT. Police can legally lie in America to obtain an arrest, but it's a crime lying to police. At KC3 Coronation, the police held for hours and released without charges the "Not My King" protesters and Monarchists by mistake. A judge recently ordered former president Trump to not talk about his case, while his prosecutors can speak. I get it. Critics dislike the messengers, so it's easy to be outraged about their message.

It just kills me whenever they get booked for these types of events. Neither of them has any pertinent credentials, in fields of mental health, early childhood education, social work, teaching, counseling, etc. Many people have children and I would not take parenting advice from them necessarily. Many people have businesses, but I would not necessarily set up my business with identical organization, accounting, or tax structures. If you are a parent, an entertainer, a fund-raiser, show your fitness to instruct others. Prove how well the children are doing, and how well-adjusted and well-rounded their development. Achievements. Business should be independently audited. What’s it’s PER? What salary do you pay yourself, how much reinvestment capital? Charitable organization’s number of independent fundraisers, number co sponsorships, presentations, et al. What amount earned in one year: what amounted donated in one year. Increase in time commitment to work of organization. Increase in membership in various organizations. Government reports verified. Harry couldn’t even be bothered with presenting evidence in a court case he initiated. 🙄

Yesterday my 24yo son called me in tears as he'd just heard a good friend he started high school with committed suicide several days ago and only the day after they'd last met. My son (and his older brother) have had their own suicidal ideation - jumping on social media owners isn't the solution. I can't say why my son(s) hasn't - getting him help (and trying to be that help on occasion), talking to him, being available and listening not spouting word salads in self-aggrandisement may be part of it. H&M are just beyond irritating - they're now getting to be dangerous.

The outfit that Nutmeg wore was so inappropriate for the afternoon event. Everyone was wearing business attire and what this trollop was wearing was so shameful and disrespectful to the audience. She also hogged the microphone again and the other men on the panel hardly said a word nor a sentence. It was so obvious that this was all about Nutmeg again. She made it like it was her event once again. I do not understand what their draw is for all the attention they are getting. She is not bothered at all by the negative press. It just rolls off her shoulder and it seems like it empowers her all the more. It is so crazy. Thank you for your video.

This is the most balanced rebuttal I've heard about this festival so far. Thank you for going into the substance of what was said. I can relate to parents who are absent from home due to work related obligations, but I can't relate to the Earl and Countess of Dumbarton. They're not royal anymore, but Harry's been away from home over the last month going to the UK, Japan, Singapore, Germany, Portugal and now New York. And Meghan's away from home unnecessarily as well while staying in the US mostly, leaving raising the children to other people. And when turning up at these events they don't put in the time and effort to spark real conversation about viable solutions. They just show up spewing fridge magnet platitudes and lazy comments about sensorship. It's clear once again that those two put all responsibility and all blame with third parties. While trying to control everything and everyone else they don't take control over their own lives or take responsibility for their own actions, demanding the whole world cater to their wants and needs. The thing that irked me a lot was Meghan saying that the stories made her cry. What good does that do!? I cry when I watch Bambi or Turning Red. But what is the adult response, the balanced and thought through response that offers perspective to collocutors?

@@Sage-Em It doesn't matter whether she actually cried. I react to what she says, like this video talks about what Harry says. Their linguistics are significant. It would be unwise to ignore the things Harry and Meghan do via Archewell and in other ways. Harry has his toes in many ponds, more so than Meghan who is quite unlikeable. People still give credit to Harry because he's Diana's son. But even Meghan (through WME) can still find platforms and audiences. And it doesn't matter that it's unnecessary or downright ridiculous. It's happening and it goes largely unchallenged in MSM.

Well Said!!! and "research" is not simply "googling" something. It is being truly educated in the topic... say environmental engineering, or aquatic toxicology, or other pertinent disciplines. And social media?! It takes a tremendous amount of time and effort for a parent to educate him/herself!!! Even 25+ years ago the youth understood far more than their parents concerning social media - even how to circumvent "parental controls" This is PERSONAL RESPONSIBILTY, people!! It's not up to "someone else" to "make this safe for my child so I can go off and do things fun and of interest to me"

He would use our old phones in middle school without service and dabble a little, but I was always there to keep an eye out, advice and guide him.He was not allowed to go on certain platforms and I made sure he knew I had the right to look at the phone at any time while at the same time giving him freedoms. All to make him a responsible young man and to learn to make good choices.

Whether it’s talking about how to manage social media, bullies in school, strangers on the street, the books and magazines they read…whatever it is…talk to your children so they will learn the importance of questioning things and to recognize red flags. I always believed that we can’t bubble wrap our children from the real world. Rather, we can teach them to make wise choices.
