you can not call this a cover when Michael played it with the Doubles plus this blows all other renditions AWAY!!!

"'Takin' It to the Streets' is a song by the American rock band The Doobie Brothers from the album of the same name. It was their first single with Michael McDonald on vocals and was written by McDonald." In this context, particularly with Michael playing with other artists here, I think it's appropriate to call it a cover. He wrote it, yes, but it was for the Doobies at the time, not as a solo artist. Splitting hairs here, in my opinion.

RTMorasonMD2 so when he plays it as the final song in a 4 song encore with his own band it becomes a cover ? NOT He's been playing with the Dan for 30 years

I was wondering who's the drummer! Right in da pocket...I can see Jon Herrington on guitar, Mr Freddie "Ready" Washington on bass and Michael Leonhard on trumpet among others...

Not sure why you say "The Doobies"..yes the group did the song, wiith him snging it..but Michael McDonald wrote it before that....its his song..so when HE sings his own song its not a "Cover".

KINDOY2 you r so correct

I saw him perform it in Mill Valley Ca in 197.6.solo..so when you say Doobie Bros "cover"..it sounds insulting..as I said.. How does one " cover" ones own creation? Who is "splitting hairs"?
