I mean we can tell you. You could just ask. So when gods become corrupted they are more tied to the physical world. This is what happened to balrogs and Sauron as well. So when you become corrupted enough you can no longer go back to the spirit world where the other gods exist. So when Saruman was stabbed in the back it released his spirit and his true form (mortals cannot see this) but when he tried to go back to the spirit world the gods rejected him because of his evil. But because he was corrupted he could no longer anchor himself to reality enough to reform a new body, causing his spirit to be dispersed. He is actually still alive. But he is stuck forever being able to watch people but he cannot interact with them or reform a body. This is what happens to Sauron as well as Balrogs and the other evil gods that are “killed”. But Gandalf is not corrupted. So he could reform a new body at will as if he died he would go back to the spirit world and immediately come back to middle earth in a new body.

For Saruman, its this mixed with the gods not letting his spirit return west caused his spirit to disperse when he died. That's how they explain it from what I recall.
