My great-grandfather, Rudolf Weber was forced to fight for Hitler in 1945 when he was only 13 years old. His father Karl had died in Ukraine earlier in 1943, and he had nobody but his mother Indrid and two younger sisters Anna and Gertrude. He was forced to participate in house to house fighting in Berlin, trying his best to get back home to his mother and sisters. After the fighting had stopped, and he was let go by American forces who had taken him as a POW, he finally got to see his mother and sisters, who were overjoyed to see Rudolf back home. I had a similar feeling of joy when this movie was over.

As someone who has watched the play for several years in a row, I can say this movies misses everything about the play. The play may not be for everyone, heck I mainly watch the play because of nostalgia and tradition. The play is meant to feel like a fever dream a child would have. The start of the play is normal and just about everything that happens in is based of something the mc saw or experienced, the nutcracker being the way he is is based off the guy she dance with, the rats are based off of the rats she saw the maid catch before she went to bed, heck even everything coming alive is based off the magical man she saw during the party, I’m not 100% sure were the snow queen and the sugarplum fairy come from but I would assume they are created from ideas if Christmas. This whole movie feels like a sad attempt at a horror movie (the toys being alive and dying due to Nazi rats) not a Christmas movie. The two biggest disservices the movie dose are adding lyrics to the music and the plot. I could and would write essay on how much this movie sucks especially compared to the source material but I don’t think anyone’s going to read this comment anyway.

7:27 I mean on the one hand I can see what they were going for. They're basically taking the piss out of the Yazis, because the real Yazis wanted people to fear and respect them (mostly fear). I’m not gonna lie, this entire movie is so confusing. I mean first of all seeing humanoid rats wearing M1916 Stahlhelms with Wehrmacht WW2 overcoats on is confusing but the main question is why??? Like literally just why lmao? It’s like they’ve just mashed two pieces of history together for some random reason, I mean I even saw one of the rats wearing a Prussian pickelhaulbe, I really don’t understand given that this is a Christmas movie lol, it’s for children, I don’t think children are going to understand Imperial German (WW1), Prussian and of course Wehrmacht uniforms like I don’t understand what the writers were aiming for here??

Actually, those uniforms look more like interwar German uniforms (like 1920's and early to mid 1930's). Some officials still wore the Pickelhaube into the 20's and 30's (mostly as dress uniforms and whatnot, but it was only very specific people who were generals and such in WW1).
@omendium29183 жыл бұрын
@@stevekovoc3939 that’s valid, yeah there is a clear mix of Weimar Republic uniforms, I mean I think the film is set in a 1920’s Austria, and yeah it was often CO’s and high ranks who continued to wear the Pickelhaube up until about the early 1930’s, the whole, Adolf Hitler takes office, completely spruces up the look of the army (although for a while and even into WW2 the Wehrmacht wore the M1916 Stahlhelm)
@stevekovoc39393 жыл бұрын
@@omendium2918 Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Austria in the interwar years also used the M1916 Stahlhelm and wore similar uniforms. However, this is clearly supposed to be Nazis and not just Austrians. Kind of odd they went with Nazis in the film instead of, well, the German Empire or something. You know what this movie also kinda feels like? Mary Poppins. Here's my reasons: - The kids travel to an alternate world - Albert Einstein looks out for them more than their parents - The dad doesn't listen to/open up to them until the end of the movie I also agree that Einstein pulled a Deus Ex when he was just like "I got the feeling that something is wrong" instead of building up to it by having him visit again, or have intuition kick in (like if he felt he forgot something at the house, so now he has a reason to return).
