You vacation like our family it's cheaper and better we would go out a few nights so my husband could get his seafood fix and I could get a little break on cooking. We would fill plastic totes up/coolers with food/spices at home to save money also like you.

I just found your videos. I am from the south but live in the midwest now. They dont know anything about flavor here unfortunately. I have blown many ppl here with my cooking. Southerners definitely do it better. I loved seeing you eat BBQ sandwiches with garlic texas toast. The only way we get that here is make our pulled pork and buy texas garlic toast at walmart. Uggh the midwest. 🤦‍♀️

Hey sweetie, wanna tell you a cute story. My brother & law had to have surgery on his ankle a couple weeks ago (is doing better now), anyways my hubby & I have been helping him out so much now & by the time he gets home at night he's so dog tired as he's putting in 14-15 hour days helping his bother so as I always do I make cheap easy meals, & they've mostly been your dishes as we ALL LOVE them. He came home a couple nights ago & I said I know your tired but dinner is all ready. Bless his heart but what does my hubby say???? "O please tell me its a Momma Mel's dinner night"???? I said like I would do it any other way! I got a hug & kiss after dinner he then took a bath & went to bed. Momma Mel I just want to say your a HUGE hit here in Kansas at our house. Also I'm so jellie your able to go to the beach. Living in KS were land locked. Ive seen the ocean twice, both in Fl too. I love the smells of the ocean water, the calming waves, its all so relaxing.

We use that brand country gravy for our Sunday Brunch,. I slice up a cantaloupe and make some Mary B’s biscuits or make my own and we have sausage, egg, gravy . Some Sundays I will make creamed chipped beef , cantaloupe, biscuits. None left over.

I sure did enjoy seeing your vacation cooking; my husband and I have decided that eating out on vacation (for the most part) is not so much a great idea for us anymore. It seems like so many of the places feature such “over the top” plates (at high prices, as well) Watching this video has really given me some great ideas for making our meals. We would still eat out a little, but cooking in would sure help. We live in Alabama, and would like to go to Florida in 2023-it’s been a while since we’ve been to the beach. I love how Grayton Beach looks, and some of the places y’all went and things you did would be what we’d be interested in. Thanks for sharing!!

I love the Fla.panhandle ,always my vacation spot,we would bring some things from home,butno tax on groceries in Fla,so we just shop when we get there.We eat out some but fix several easy crockpot meals ,to have ready for supper or have something easy and quick,the way things are now its too expensive to eat out every meal ,l love Destin and crab island too.We live about 5 hours away .I love the beach..

Hello Mel, I’m a new subscriber. I have to tell you how much I enjoy your channel. You have a very soothing voice that kinda drew me in. Well that and your delicious looking recipes. Your style of cooking reminds me of days gone by. After my husband passed away it’s just been me. I know I’m cooking meals that are too big for just myself but I like these types of soups and casseroles. Why deprive myself. I can freeze the leftovers. If there is any. Enjoying your videos! We do the same when on vacation. Simple delicious meals. We usually don't eat out because of the same reason children & adults are tired after a day at the beach & pool & saves money. I have 8 children & 18 grandchildren. Most try to go on vacation with us. We only do 2 meals a day breakfast & supper. Looking forward to trying some of your meals!

I do the same thing and I'm usually solo (except for the crockpot).I like knowing I have what I need to cook breakfast,lunch and dinner if I want to.I plan a menu,make sure I have the ingredients to do those meals and pack up.(I shop sales at home,clip coupons,and save where I can.)

Yeah I think those pans are called green pans I made a mistake of buying a whole set of those they advertised as being non stick but sticking is all they did lol......everything looks great would love to try the crunch wraps...wow great crockpot meal great idea to bring it in vacation easy peasy. When I make taco soup I do can of roasted tomatoes and can mild rotel. And do half ground beef with half ground mild Italian sausage. I use to make it the regular way. But since doing it this way everyone says it’s way better then original

We head to Gulf Shores AL for the winter and I take as much food as I can. The grocery prices down there are so high. Often the wait at restaurants is an hour plus...we cook alot!

When our kids were young my husband had a job that he had to attend a state and a national convention. He had to work but it was our vacation for the kids and me They just wanted to play in the pool! We always took our crockpot and a small griddle. It made for a much cheaper vacation and the money we saved on food we could use for other activities.
