Dumpster Business Down: This Could Have Cost Me Everything!

This is 100% why you set up a maintenance schedule and don't wait until something is at the point of failure to replace them! Brakes should be maintained like oil in your car, especially on a heavy hauling truck! What I did was silly and could have cost me thousands in dumpster business losses. Not only that, it was not safe! To say I overlooked something for too long and got lucky is an understatement. I was always too busy and didn't want to stop the truck for a day if it could be hauling dumpsters instead!
When an employee is using your truck, it's sometimes hard to know what the truck needs if you dont have it pre scheduled out. I have NOT neglected to do regular maintenance, such as oil, fuel filters, and tires on my truck, but my brake pads decided to leave the chat after 120,000 mile! So I got every penny out of those...
In a panic, I rushed to change the brake pads in an emergency. But guess what? The parts store didn't have the wheel seals I needed in stock! They also decided to give me the wrong brake pads.
Of course, I already had the truck torn apart, and I had dumpsters and equipment to run for the rest of the week 😱! It felt like a major setback, and I was worried my business would be down for weeks. Because they couldn't even give me a date to find a wheel hub seal, and this is an OEM part from the Ram dealer!
But hey, I'm not one to give up easily! I scoured every corner of the town until I found the wheel seals I needed. It was a close call, but we managed to get the entire truck back together with only minor things that need to be taken care of tomorrow!
Lesson learned, right? Regular maintenance is crucial to keep our businesses running smoothly. And hey, even when things don't go according to plan, we can always find a way to make it work!
But at the end of the day, this neglect could have been discovered during a terrible accident and cost me more than a day of headaches. I'll be initiating a process to make sure this never happens again.

Hey Clayton, this was a cool behind the scenes, down and dirty video, but now, we need to dust ourselves off and come up with a regular maintenance plan and schedule for all of your vehicles, tractors, trailers etc. because maintaining your gear is just as important with using your gear on the daily! I'm OCD about maintaining all of my vehicles and yes, it's a pain sometimes, but I always like to depend on them for reliability so they are ready when I am! Speaking of which, I think my Denali needs a new battery soon, so I need to go get one while I'm thinking about all of this maintenance! Keep grinding and hustling! Great channel sir, keep up the great work and can't wait for more reveals! I'm going to suggest that you also carry some stock of these hard to get parts when you can, so you can take a truck out of service for a day and do the required repairs and won't have to depend of there not being a strike by the UAW and such! Just a suggestion my friend to help keep Rolling Operations moving forward! Thanks, Brian

I'd get a single axle daycab or medium duty truck with air brakes. I know those duallies are bad af for what they are but it's just so much easier to do a brake job on air brakes, release the brakes cage em or back off on the slacks, pull the wheel, drum, pop rollers out, pull springs and shoes, takes about 5 mins per wheel end, if that. Reinstallation just as quick with the right tools. Without the right tools the springs can be a bitch but you can fight em on there. Lasts twice as long, stops twice as hard with twice the load. Maybe like a Ford F650 or 750 with the small cummins in them. Oughta make a good truck for your workload, probably overkill a bit. Anything to do with truckin tho, overkill is always a good thing. You can also get all the wheel end parts almost anywhere that sells truck parts, including wheel seals. The stuttering from a stop, after checking the filter and ws, I'd check your fuel lines, I had this happen on my Dodge once, fuel lines were dry / weather rotted and cracked and pullin air, and that's all it ended up being. Swapped those and it ran perfect again. It had an air dog system on it too. Ran that mf all over the country for a couple years while back haulin cars, I'd never go back to a pickup. Even nowadays when I rent a skid steer or something, I pick it up with the freightliner lol

I'm definitely looking at getting a f650 or derated 750. We are also looking to do something pretty crazy with our current "vintage 750" and using it way more than I originally anticipated. With a possible power train replacement. It could be a really awesome truck to utilize!

Good content in this video! -now to comment what you already know😊... Your driver needs to assess some things in his life, like how lucky he did not make himself non-breathing or not becoming natural selection. So you are not wrong but you're not right either😮 come on not checking your brakes in over 100K miles. I know you got thousands of things on your mind and stuff like this can happen but it shouldn't happen. Plus your boy should have had your back and protected himself also. He's the one driving the truck all the time. You guys should try to back each other up when it comes to possible non-breathing activities. Good stuff thanks for showing the truth. I like how your channel is growing fast and you get lots of comments too. -There's another KZbinr that just broke 50k subscribers and only gets 15 to 40 comments per video because he blind monitors so many people😢 Keep up the good work. I hope you start making some good money from your videos! 👍

Visual inspections man - there was nothing wrong with those rear brakes, you did all that for nothing. You should have know what was up when you yanked the wheel and the rotor was fine and the pads were still at 60-70%. You should grab every owner's manual you have and put on your calendar when you need to inspect maintenance intervals - weather it be by time or mileage. It would have prevented this - what other maintenance items have you ignored on the truck your business depends on? Good content - fantastic hustle man.
@rollingops
@rollingops 9 ай бұрын
Hey, I won't argue. You're 100% correct man. That's why I kept the rotors and even the pads as an emergency backup. I put it in the description, but I've always been incredibly diligent with fluids, tires and filters. But I let this particular maintenance item get away from me. And there is no excuse! Could of been way worse.

Don't resurface rotors . It is not worth it . The thinner rotor does not handle the heat from braking as well . All of the manufacturers cheaped out on drums and rotors years ago . The days of machining and reusing drums and rotors are long gone due to a lack of quality metal .Hand torque those wheels . Crank down and pray is likely to warp those new rotors .
