If you rubber cemented those thick rubber strips together to make one big mat... you could use it as shock protective layer for when you chuck heavy pointed steel in your truck box.

Watching this guys progression over the past 7 years is wild lol..I just found the channel a week or two ago but I’m mostly caught up. Dude went from picking up bottles and random doo-dads from here and there and turned into one of the most active and efficient scrappers on youtube lol.

I suggest you have a small pot for screws. 1. Most of the time, you'll find something that you could use out on the adventure. 2. If you are taking the time to remove screws then you may as well weigh them in. Screws are metal, after all. 3. If you mess up and throw your bit into a screw pot, then you'll be able to retrieve it. 4. I've got a wrist strap with magnets in it. Once I've finished, it's easy to transfer the screws from the wrist strap to a pot.

Glue one of those Rubber maths on the roof of the car. So when you have long stuff over the roof they lay on the Rubber instead of the roof. Like half math on side of roof backwards

The drive way is a bit of an art installation. I like it. Maybe a bit of gravel added to the rotor path would give it some additional texture and level the walk path. Keep doing the thing Thub! ❤

"No!!! I just threw my bit!" Oh no, You big dummy!!! Lol That's why you should just keep each and every bolt and and screw you extract and put them in your pocket or cannister or bucket or something, plus all that "little bit" of weight still adds up in the longer run.

I really wish you'd were a mask or something when going into these bins. An electrician I knew got asbestos from crawling around in loft spaces. He died in his mid-40's. Asbestos (and other hazardous materials going into ones lungs) is not a joke. However, great video. I really love seeing what you find.

Those nordic ski machines have at least 2, if not 4 one-way bearings. And you're like "What is a 1-way bearing?" Exactly as it sounds. Spin it in one direction, it glides like a bearing. Spin it in the other direction, it locks tight to the shaft, like a ratchet, without any ratcheting, just smooth one-way bearing. I keep the shaft and the 2 bearings and hand it to people to endlessly confuse them. Not worth anything but the joy of it.

Hey Thub! I'm not really a scrapper, but my father-in-law was (he's passed) And while I did help him very rarely load what he cleaned, he had 4 city lots full to overflowing sometimes 10 feet deep in places. I'd normally give him stuff, but now years later, I find myself with my 1st truck, and while I have had several people come and take stuff over the years, I can actually take some things myself. What I don't want (or what my wife doesn't want, I should say) is a pile that never goes away. Ive decided to keep it no more than what can all fit in the bed at one time. The question is, are there things I shouldn't keep or pick up? My yard I know will not take microwaves that haven't been cleaned or coat hangers (among the obvious chemicals and not metals) What's not worth stocking up until a singe 5' bed is full?

Interesting question! I did do a video “I never scrap these items” but that was a little while back. You may have a good price for circuit boards and e-waste so I can’t speak to that but I generally don’t save a bin of zinc alloy, that stuff just isn’t worth much. Christmas lights are pretty bad for their volume but they’re so easy it’s hard to pass them up lol. The other things I can’t seem to get paid for are laptops and stove/oven heat coils. Waste of space for me. Then the plug ends with the little bits of brass, those are such an annoying chore but they’re actually kinda worth doing so I hate them haha

Got to say, kinda jealous of you, Thub! What the temperature there today? The high in Tempe, Az is 110°F, 43°C. Sucks to scrap in the daytime in that heat. I've gotten 1st degree burns from climbing in dumpsters....☀☀☀🔥

Hey Thub! Great video as always 👍🏻 I was wondering, and please enlighten me if I missed it, but is this your main income? If so, do you earn enough to make a decent living? Or are you struggling to get by when the scrap is scarce? I enjoy going on small scrap runs, but that is just extra for me next to my full time job 😅 So I was wondering how you got by 🤓 Thanks again and keep doing the thing! 💪🏻
@thubprint4 ай бұрын
I definitely don’t make a decent income off the scrap haha, most of how I live is from ad revenue on this here channel! It’s pretty light sometimes so the scrap is the auxiliary funds that allow me to go camping or throw a birthday party 👍

Sorry but those brake rotor "stepping stone" are a bad idea.... and not because they are going to rust away very VERY QUICKLY, and most likely staining the dirt orange/brown from the rust (and from whatever else they alloy with the steel/iron), but the water runoff too (which goes into the drains and eventually into the sea... with the all the little fishies) but do you REALLY think people are gonna use them to step on??? They're placed REALLY close together... like for the stride of a child.... and with them being different heights people WILL SPRAIN THEIR ANGLES on them!! You HAVE TO fix the spacin if you're gonna keep them (which I don't think you should) ... but the reason you should NOT keep the Brake Rotors as stepping stone MOST OF ALL: THEY ARE VERY UGLY. I have given my opinions. I wash my hands of this matyter. lol :)
@Nobe_Oddy4 ай бұрын
Maybe you should put those rubber mats on the inside of the gate to your truck bed, so it's not slippery when wet 🤷♂ I don't think you'll sell them very easily because they are in such a weird size and they're cutoffs of a bigger size piece. I THINK they are flooring mats that you glue down to the concrete of your garage, and these are probably the offcuts 🤷♂ But this is just a guess.
