You mentioned that lack of proper footwear, some are limited to the work they can get. I've always known that you have a huge heart, with the way you work. With you wanting to find a good home for those boots meaning someone can get the job they want sealed my assumption of your heart once more! Kudos!

Good brass finds! Brass is my favorite metal to find, I just love all the places it pops up. When I started scrapping I happened across the dumpster being used to clear out the old Lutheran school in my neighborhood. It was an old school building with brass everything. The building was being refurbished before being sold to a charter school and they threw out everything including what must have been the maintenance guys storehouse of spare parts: plumbing, electrical, mechanical, even a bunch of old wall mount pencil sharpeners. Good times!

The worst part about watching you dumpster dive (actually anyone that dumpster dives), is seeing you struggle trying to get an item(s) out of the dumpster and I want to jump through the screen and help you out but I can't! Great finds! Looking forward to the scrapyard run!!

For me the worst part is how it's all mixed together, which means it's ALL ending up in a landfill. Here in Italy you'd never see this except in places where assholes have dumped some trash illegally.

I'm amazed by the amount of rugs I see dumped, they're not that hard to clean if you have a pressure washer and a squeegee, the pressure washer doesn't even have to be a big one.
@ohdannyboy47272 жыл бұрын
I hear you on that. Most people dont have the time, energy, or desire to learn simple stuff. As well as get the basic tools. It really is unfortunate creates more waste and people spend more hard earned money. 🍻
@JohnSmith-ki2eq2 жыл бұрын
@@E-hab True, but if you can get one then it makes it a lot faster, and you'll get better results. I've done it both ways and my back likes the pressure washer better

Been known to take them to a coin-operated car Wash. The kind that has clips on the wall to hang your car's floor mats. Then you just put in some quarters and power wash away! It even includes soap. The point is you don't have to own a pressure washer to get your rugs clean fast and cheap.

As for bottles, best day was July 1 Canada Day at Alberta Legislature when I made $240, but I worked 24 hours, all night, had flashlight, hex wrench to open garbages & gloves for diapers. As soon as Sun came up time was up because cleaners with blowers showed up, except I could still jump in the remaing bin, ripped open all bags & threw bottles outside. I crushed all bottles into 4 bags, & tied 2 bags together on each shoulder. Glass got stashed in gravel box at transit station, which I came back for. Weather has to be perfect & it helped that welfare recipients were busy partying. I also found booze & food. At $10/hr, you have to be open to salvaging food too -- if it's clean.
