When I do a demo or clean out job I just make a stack of the scrap metal close to the sidewalk or in the back of the business parking lot. Often next to the demo dumpster which I've filled up with drywall and insulation. It invariably goes in two hours or less. I don't even have to bother posting it on the internet as free.

I had a good week for “non-ferrous”, I usually take that stuff in with a load of shred to go from ~ $25 up to $50 or so (USA) but I had enough to fill my trunk today, some condensers, a good bit of #2 insulated (over $1/pound RN), lots of aluminum breakage, and a small bucket of sealed units. Almost $80. Today alone paid my insurance for the month and left enough for lunch at Chick-Fil-A. 😃

Hey Thub! Do you think you could do a video on breaking down a ceiling fan, if you haven't already, and seeing if it's worth more to scrap them as copper electrical motors or if they're worth cutting the copper out and selling separately? There's also quite a bit of aluminum on some and even a little brass on the fancier ones.

Great vid. I wish the scales had a decimal. If you have 1.9 pounds of copper you are losing out on over $3. I try to weigh some of my stuff but it is just too time consuming. What say you thub?
@MarkH103 ай бұрын
I do not know how you intend to to sell the Benzomatic propane bottle, but since you should find one a month or more, may I suggest you get a valve which fits a 20 lb. bottle, and refill it for your yard or other sale. A Candian video from 4 years ago showed those at retail are $9, and a refill on 20. lbs bottles runs $30, or $1.50/lb. Sell them all in a box at $5, and have a scale so men can see what weight they get and you can profit $3.50 each. Green camping propane stove bottles are the same thing. Refilling is a simple process, and the bottles are NOT made for one use, and all warnings on them pertain to proper use, and explosive potential. Overall, this down day, I believe ran you about a $100 bill. Not bad on a not your best self assessment day. Thanks for the video.

You can't take aluminum-zink alloy?
@thubprint2 ай бұрын
I can and I have saved it up in the past, but I struggle with shop space as it is and I just have too much junk to make a corner for low value buckets right now. The zinc alloy bucket takes a long time to add up and it’s usually only $10 when full

That small aluminum thing you didn't know what it was is an extension of a spray gun, it screws onto the spray gun and the spray tip housing screws onto the other end. It gives you a little more extension spraying, It's probably made by graco, i use those.
