Plugs welds would be a good idea to keep that center/inside alignment pipe, in place, in the center aligning. Might wiggle out of place with vibration. Or even just a couple small thru bolts/pins and even could weld those in place to keep it there.

Our local coffee distribution center cleared out their warehouse of old machines and parts. I found a bucket full of tubes and brass fittings on top and endless piles of stainless steel, copper, brass, and heating element bars. I only managed 2 car loads before they hauled it off. Still have a lot of brass connectors with a little copper tubing to clip out.

Good to know! That stainless would certainly still be a grade of stainless but it’s always been a whole adventure trying to get anyone to buy it as stainless if a magnet sticks and it isn’t stamped 316. I’d rather skip the hassle unless I’ve got a truckload of it

You forgot to steel plate it, oh well let's hope it don't happen to you like it happened to others. Hauling heavy scrap snaps un fish plated axels. An ounce of prevention beats a pound of cure!

Stainless 2 and 400 series are magnetic, not as pricy as 304 (nickel) and definitely not 316 (nickel and molybdenum) but still worth more then steel because of the chrome.

Do you guys keep brake disks apart over the other side of the pond? I usually pay 6-10 eurocents a kilo more then ordinary steel/scrap. It that a thing over there?
@thubprint5 ай бұрын
Yup, I keep all the brake rotors separate. They call them “auto cast” at my yard but they do pay more than other steel grades
