Big day catching up on the scrap stash! We start the day with a truck full of metal, and not just any old pile of junk! Loads of sneaky treasures wait to be found, and the rest of it we diligently process down into sensible piles, ready for recycling (and cashing out thehe)!
Wire stripper I use: amzn.to/3sirg18
The motorized stripper: amzn.to/3y0JMuQ
The wire cutters I like: amzn.to/2T6j3OW
The grips I recommend: amzn.to/2QCJmYl
The melting furnace: amzn.to/3EGxT2q
(If you make a purchase on amazon through the links above, a small amount of what amazon makes on the sale is shared with me. It's a great way to help support my channel, at no additional cost to you. Even if you buy something other than my tool recommendations!)
Please like/share this video if you enjoyed it, and subscribe to thubprint!

@elmafias6141 yup. I have a big bag of general metal scraps even for my old tin cans. It all adds up. I can pay the local council to take stuff via my taxes and they sell it on for recycling and get paid twice or I can just weigh it in myself and I get the money. Every little helps.

There's a piece of all of us that struggles with all that grown up stuff because no matter how old we get we carry around a inner child that wants to get out and play, the good thing is, I've realized around the time you have grandchildren it becomes OK to indulge yours along with the grandkids! So your inner child is not gone, he's in a time out!..........Also little victories incentivize us to greater challenges! Seventy two...............(and a half) and still scrapping, but not diving!

Brian's advice does work, like in addiction recovery, "one day at a time" literally, if you look too far down the road, you'll be totally overwhelmed and you'll miss what's going on right now. It's very important to stay in the now if you can, it takes practice to do that. When I put myself in the now moment, all my stress goes away.

Some baking soda and dawn dish soap mixed up into hot water and soaked for an hour or dawn power wash soap will get those baking sheets/pans clean. A scrubdaddy will really help too. i saw a dude try to take the copper off a water heater that was already on the pile. they closed him out for what he had dropped, 1/4 of an f250 bed, and ran him off. Yard boss said, If you buy the whole WH, then you can scrap off it and bring it back, but no freebie.

I was so happy to see you finally get to use the tools... But now I am going to make a video with some clarifications for you, but I'll have to find a way to send it to you... Maybe I'll just upload and link it or something... 🤷 In the meantime, DON'T cut through the plastic fittings... The blade won't last... Just get as close to the fitting as possible... Also, you'll find it MUCH easier to cut the pipe if you give it a twist as you squeeze the blade down... In fact, takes very little effort to get the blade to start if you twist the fitting to start the cut... Thing of a knife blade across the palm as opposed to just trying to force it straight down... You'll get the hang of it, and will get much faster... Also, the greatest benefit and effectiveness will be when you find the brass or copper connectors, as the ring cutters work better when they have a more solid fitting to squeeze against... I'll get that video done tomorrow and find a way to get it to you.... KDTT

@thubprint

Wouldn’t even need power tools, all you’d need is a pipe wrench! It’s best to see it as “once it’s in the pile, it’s hands off”. If there’s something really really special you see, you can always ask them to set it aside and go talk to the people in the scalehouse about selling it to you. But I certainly don’t want them to regularly see me grabbing things here and there and just tossing them into my truck, nor do I want to be out there taking up time and space while vehicles are trying to get through

That’s so many!!! I’ve never had the opportunity to take one apart. I don’t love doing motors as they take a lot of time, but with one of those I’d definitely try to find a large piece of the outer body to bring in as clean alu. Well.. painted alu.

It is definitely a lot. Part of a larger scrap removal job full of wire, aluminum heads , stainless propellers etc. hopefully not too much time and work breaking it down as the deal is 60/40 with the "client" keeping the smaller portion of the take and doesn't want to wait a week for his share. Still on the quest for tips. Can't seem to find anyone that has taken on an outboard for scrap.
