In this video, I'm showing you how to use Blender 2.8 to model a 3D printable dungeon door to enhance your tabletop scenery! Small details like this can be difficult and tedious to craft by hand but 3D printing can make the process much easier. This model in particular is an excellent example of the incredible detail that can be produced with a resin printer! Designing your own 3D printable parts will allow you to quickly make highly detailed pieces that you might struggle to bring to life with more traditional crafting methods. This is the series video in a series of videos in which I will show you how to model small parts like this to save you time and your sanity during your tabletop scenery crafting projects! I hope you enjoy the video!

Very nice, had to go through it about 30+ times to get it to work properly. Issues I had (as a newbie) No image was showing up in UV Editing, had to set color base as the image. Which is weird because if I now change the image under displace I still get new grain patterns without changing the UV Editing image. Also how do you scale for a single board? I know you move yours about to get different grains and that seems a bit hard for me to do. When scaling on the UV editor it seems to scale both directions, while I would like to only scale in one direction.

Glad you are giving it a shot! A couple of the things you mentioned I have covered in previous videos and forgot to mention them in this one. First the image in the UV editor, that is just a reference and doesn’t affect the modifier which is why you can get different textures without changing it. You can add it to the UV window using the image menu at the top of that window. To scale a single board just select that board individually as seen in the video. To scale a single direction, after pressing S, press X or Y to lock the scaling to just that axis. Hope that helps! I’d love to see the finished product!

Hello! Amazing Job!! How do you prepare the object before export and print?? Do you make an unique mesh object?

For this one, I believe I simply exported as is and it printed fine. More recently, I have been using ZBrush to combine everything into a single mesh, which is a better process.

Hm, weird, im stuck at the apply texture to each woodplank. It keeps aplying to all.
@CraftLogic

If you make each plank its own vertex group, you can apply texture to them individually.

@@CraftLogic Aaah thats why. I tried to select them, but i didnt think about the vertex group. Thank you craft logic. Btw, if you accept sugestions on more 3d printable tutorials, Modrons are an "easy" approach on minis. (Im trying to model my own with your videos, but i keep mesing up the lips and nose, although the metal parts are already done). Thank you again for all your work :D.
