I’m not saying my eyes got all misty when Wilhelm quoted “Be a man your father will be proud of”… But i’m also not saying that i’m not saying it. My own relationship with my father has had it’s ups and downs over the years (these days it’s good, i’m happy to say), but a son can’t help but want the approval of his father figure. Wilhelm’s story is one i connect with on a personal level.

I was at work earlier today when Wilhelm read rule number 82 this episode. Guys… that sent a chill down my spine and I gave an audible gasp. Losing my dad three years ago, that was such a powerful, powerful moment and almost brought me to tears. Thank you so much for the intense, emotional rollercoaster of an episode today. This was easily one of my favorite episodes out of the entirety of day 1 of dungeons until now. This was it guys! This was it!! Absolutely epic roleplay, combat, and story. Rule number 99 followed by the final rule number 100. Such a satisfying, wonderful crescendo of roleplay between you guys. Love you guys and keep on keeping on brother mans

I just recently decided to pick up this series and I am proud to say I am finally caught up. I didn't start watching because the premise wasn't as interesting to me as DoD, but man I'm glad I was wrong, and if anything I think I like the Duskwardens better than Drakkenforce. Veo was an inexperienced and at some times immature roguish type, whereas Rudi is experienced and motherly to save her companions on more than one occasion. Sebastian was rash and brazen whereas Wilhelm is composed, poised, and mostly keeps his cool. Pluto was a braggart warrior seeking to exert his will on a new country to expand the reach of his family, where Wrath is still a braggart warrior, but now upholds the will of some dark one that cares not for the affairs of mortals. Such polar opposites to their old characters and a mindset that rivals Drakkenforce is so awesome. I hope that when Drakkenforce and the Duskwardens come at odds, that it is the Duskwardens the emerge victorious, because Wilhelm is the true blood of the Von Kessel dynasty and contains the proper temperament to be the king, and restore order to all of Westemar.

I'm still catching up on this campaign, but commenting here because it's the most recent one. I'm a Scottish guy and have had a crazy hard couple of years (not gonna drag everyone down with details). I happened across your Dungeons campaign and ended up pretty much binge watching it for three straight weeks. You guys literally saved my life, and I am so grateful to you for that. Watching your campaign gave me something to focus on, an escape to a safe-space and an invaluable aid to my recovery. I honestly cannot thank you all enough and (as weird as this might be) I am so proud of you all for getting your book published and all the kickstarter stuff etc. As for myself, I have built a world, gotten my hands on the PHB, Monster Manual and a few others (through friends) and am currently DMing two campaigns. Obviously I'm not cured or anything, but you guys have made it possible for me (through DnD) to make plans, to engage with other humans in a healthy way and, yeah, basically to live again. Thank you all again so much, and I hope you enjoy your campaigns for many years.

33:50 This Hooded Lantern SURVIVED being face to face with the Striga Delirium Vamphyr. Monty never says "he" or "his". Back in Season 1 [Dungeons of Drakenheim], after Drakenforce defeated the Throne Rift Monster (in the waking world), Jupiter Jones & ALL of his soldiers perished, but Elias Drexel & TWO unnamed Hooded Lanters survived. They went down through Drakken Castle (avoiding ratlings) & joined a small group protected by Eldrich's Tiny Hut (containing a few more Hooded Lanterns). After short-resting & reaching "The Heart" at the bottom; they went back to the top & helped on the FINAL battle against "Petunia" (the now "Rat King"); by holding down the advance of normal rats & small ratlings outside of the Throne Room. Monty accidentally placed the special token mini that represents Petra as one of this background Hooded Lanterns. . I like to think this was a Hooded Lantern woman who "leveled up" from the previous epic battle (getting her own special mini). . THE OTHER Hooded Lantern SURVIVOR was a man who choosed to escort the non-combatants out of the castle. -> This Veteran is now the same man who lived to tell the tale here.

That's quite a lot of setpieces coming together. I guess Monty had it all planned from at least halfway through the story and rolled with some alterations caused by player actions. Ended up resolving every single "classic horror" issue in one episode - the Headless Horseman, the vampire and the werewolf. That werewolf thing was the most curious - both lightning-fast and understandably so, because it really was annihilating HP. One thing I wonder, though - was the bit Monty described of the castle under the Countess's control being semi-illusory and glamoured to look decent while it's actually a decrepit rotted ruin, from back when they first explored the castle, just an illusion? Because it kind of seemed like it would be dispelled when the Countess is dealt with, but the castle still seems "decent" after that.

Amazing episode, really. One of the best of Shadows. Spoiler. But the original Drakkenforce is something that I was really looking forward to. So happy to see them back. I was also wondering how it would be possible to make the two trios interact. Because of how the stories are unfolding sooner or later it would seem necessary that Wilhelm meets George, and it would be strange if at least Pluto wasn't there. And Wrath should meet Sebastian at some point, that would be so interesting to witness.

This has to be on the top 5 of episodes in Drakkenheim.AMAZING! The failure to kill de Countess became the most cinematic combat I've ever seen, seamlessly integrated with the character's backstory. You could not script it better. Plus the loup-garou battle? all in one sitting?? OMG. I'm speechless.

Drakkenheim and Critical Role along with a new campaign I'm in. I definitely get my fill of D&D content. To make stressful weeks less stressful. Butt Stallion vapor form
