I love the fall season. Everything about it is just amazing. Fall is truly the "feel good" season in my opinion. Nothing pairs better with the feel good season than getting bundled up all cozy and watching a good mystery unfold on TV. The two go hand in hand. If ever there was a show that meets right in the middle of mystery and that "feel good" feeling, it would be Scooby-Doo. It's a show that has been entertaining generations of kids and adults alike for decades now. That's why today, on our nostalgic walk down memory lane, we are attempting to solve what might be an unsolvable Scooby-Doo mystery.
Thank you for watching!

I always felt that the best Scooby-Doo movies are the ones that have an air of real mysticism to the mystery, The Zombies being real, The Loch-ness Monster actually being real, The Witch being real, Alien's existing, Cyber-chase gets a pass for taking place in a virtual world.

@@DemonicGoddess technically yes but most of those monster were the ones that came from the original universal monster movies and are so well known as movie characters most people would think those were dreams specially given the fact that most adults know shaggy is a stoner. Where as zombie island interduced the idea that real people can become monsters and not just because of greed behind a mask. Witch in my opinion is what made the original live action interesting because it took the concept of real people being corrupt, becoming real monsters and ran with it.

Bro, if you look carefully the film is freaking dark. The Cat God is basically a demon (A god that curses and demands blood sacrifices?) And a the zombies, sure, some look like civil war era, but a lot of them look like modern tourists, and there were dozens upon dozens of them, is the only Scooby Doo movie that implies that people died beyond the ghost themselves, and died Horribly!

There’s something so unique about that era of scooby-doo right before the “what’s new scooby-do?” era(which I also like). It’s like the creators of that era weren’t afraid to get actually creepy and dark with the subversions of there being actual ghosts and monsters like obviously the zombies, cat-people, the ghost of Witch Sarah Ravencroft, the cyber-stalker, aliens, etc. the witch’s ghost and zombie island was legit creepy enough that I had nightmares as a kid over them.

Zombie Island was definitely the darkest scooby doo movie out there. You have actual monsters that lured and slaughtered countless victims (granted they were the victims at first because of Moonscar), some of the most graphically shocking zombies at the time for a kids movie (seeing zombies being reanimated from bones to rotten skin is definitely a shock factor, as well as Simone and Lena turning into skeletons and then exploding into pieces.) I actually found the transformation scene too scary for me when I was little. This movie was definitely a one of a kind treat for the franchise. The animation factor in this movie was brilliantly well done too. Cyber Chase was really cool too, being transported into a virtual reality world and seeing all the different worlds the gang had to go through, it was a pleasent experience. But, I think Zombie Island is the one that sits on the throne.

The scene when Velma reveals the name of Moonscar's ship is brilliant. It's the third beat of the joke, transforming the "get out" into a Maelstrom -- it changes the warning about the house into a warning of a mighty, terrible storm. It's a clever reveal, but it also builds on what's established in the scene.

I think the two things that really make zombie Island stand out to me are Fred's attempts to make some explanation other than actual magic make sense, imo it works better than when it's Velma slotted into that role, and the fact that at least to my knowledge it's the first time at least in the animated movies that has badass Daphne where she actually shows that she can fend for herself and be a key piece of the gang on her own.

I like them with fried catfish I catch in our lake by the Treasure Chest Casino. After you boil them in crab boil, peel then batter some with fish fry then flash fry to crisp up the coating. Yum. For me, Scooby-Doo and the Witch's Ghost is the best because not only was the mystery real, but it introduced 3 of the most legendary characters in all of Scooby-Doo canon. The Hex Girls, who were so awesome they not only appeared in other Scooby-Doo movies (Legend of Vampire Rock most notably) but also got to pop up in both "Whats New, Scooby-Doo" and "Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated" the latter of which even provided them two new looks, and gave us a sweet supernatural-ish battle of the bands.

I feel like the main difference is that even though I think that Zombie Island is the better quality movie, Cyber Chase is the more digestible movie. It’s not nearly as dark (both in tone and design). There’s much more comedy. And of course, you have the carnival level with all of the cameos. It’s a much easier movie to enjoy compared to Zombie Island unless you’re prepared for a heavier movie to watch. Either way, these movie releases during the 90s and 2000s were so iconic that I can’t fault anyone for loving any of them more than the others ❤️

As someone who has lived in Louisiana their whole life, you should definitely try some of the food from the movie! Though be wary as crawfish stink to high hell (I personally don't like them simply due to that). I do wish they could have animated the gumbo a bit better though since that's definitely not what it looks like. I'm an O.G. Scooby-Doo Fan and I completely get why you're torn between these two movies. Both were classics that feature riveting plots, fully fleshed out twists and surprising villains (three elements many of the other TV movies, live action movies, and even the plethora of TV series incarnations clearly lack). However, I have to give the edge to Zombie Island because of how it showed the gang having not only gone their separate ways but also working regular jobs (and thriving in them - well Velma, Daphne and Freddie anyway) before "getting the band back together" so to speak. Those opening scenes made the gang appear like real people instead of the cartoonish versions of Dobie Gillis character on which they were based. In a nutshell, Zombie Island gave the Mysteries, Inc. Crew a soul - something that neither Cyber Chase nor any of the other properties of The Scooby-Doo Canon have ever come close to succeeding in doing.

The sound editing on "who opened the window" and the creepy music behind it freaked me out as a kid, so too that the monsters were all real and wanted to kill the gang for reals. Truly a scary film. Cyberchase had this feel to a lesser extent but there were too many obvious clues with the baseball references to sustain that feeling it might be real. Cyberchase also did a lot of random location jumping (which makes sense for the film), but Zombie Island really feels like they are stuck in a terrible place. Zombie Island will always be up there with Gunn's 2002 live action Scoob film as the best Scooby Doo productions, and definitely the best part of the animated content.

Hands down my favorite scooby doo movie

I agree with everything you said. My family also owns zombie island and I've seen it multiple times and i think its the best by far. the soundtrack is genuinely great, the animation is pretty good considering when it was made, and if you're watching it for the first time, its kind of captivating because you expect it to just be "a guy in a mask" and then it turns out there are real ghosts and zombies. THEN later on, the amazing plot twist that they are HELPING the real monsters and the ghosts were warning them of the danger that the land owner posed. THEN once they defeat them, and have no evidence of what happened THE GARDENER is a detective. all in all it leaves nothing to be desired and is truly an iconic movie for anyone who has seen it. I appreciate your in depth dive into each movie and breaking them down and comparing them. You did a great job.

I both love and feel conflicted by real monsters in scooby doo because the gang really doesn't have anything to do but run away which makes them rather functionally similar.

Zombie island is easily the best of the movies I've seen, between reluctant werewolf, ghoul school, witch's ghost, cyber chase, alien invasion, attack of the Vampire, night of the chupacabra and a few others from the mid 2000s. The best overall quality in all aspects of the writing and production, and its genuinely dark and terrifying material for children. Even as a grown man, that catperson transformation is disturbing, almost looks like the animation and design from attack on titan. Watched it after only seeing a few episodes of the show from the 70's and had me hooked, when the newer Era of the show came out, I believe around 2002, I was intent to catch new episodes when they premiered

Zombie Island was always my favorite. I was born in 94 so I saw it a ton growing up around when it first came out and its original airings. I used to love the voodoo doll part where the dolls are placed next to a fire and they all start kinda burning up. That always stuck with me but I love how dark it was and the fact that it was with Confederate Civil War soldiers was a treat since I'm a Texan who loves history

I remember having this movie on VHS when it first came out! I was SHOCKED to see Scooby and the gang in such a dark, close to reality film. I loved it for that reason! I love how they tied in the real history of confederate slavery with the mystical aspect of the zombies and were-cats.

For me, it was always Scooby-Doo and the Boo Brothers. I always enjoyed the wide variety of ghosts, the escaped "ghost" circus ape, and the wacky side-characters causing trouble. But more than that, I liked all the riddles and the clues provided to solve the mystery. It felt to me like a more solid and solvable mystery than most Scooby-Doo stories while still maintaining the hijinks and such that make it so funny.

Scooby-Doo On Zombie Island will forever be the greatest Scooby-Doo movie EVER this movie set the standard the movie was even so dark they had to tone down the movies after the gang actually dealing with a murder case and I like the villains in the masks actually attempted murder on the gang this movie was so good could have been in theaters.

Yet, upon rewatching it i have to say it has become my favourite scooby doo movie.

The Witch's Ghost is my favorite. I love the aesthetic of a spooky small town, the autumn/ Halloween setting, Tim Curry, and the Hex Girls! I'm more biased because I watched it before I saw Zombie Island, but even I'm willing to admit that Zombie Island is the best. Cyber Chase is a close third (based on the nostalgia factor), Alien invaders isn't my favorite, but it's not terrible.

I honestly agreed with the video perfectly...up until the cyber chase. And then like DuskTillShawn said about the music in the cyber chase, the video just kept getting progressively worse. For starters, the "plothole" could just as easily be explained in three different ways, all that could be rationally thought out. 1) The Scooby snacks is a digitized object. They can easily pluck it in or out because it can't exactly move. However, they don't know what could happen if they just pulled the gang out, and knowing the science team, opted to let them handle it so the guard didn't just do a dumb idea. 2) Releasing them also releases the phantom virus again. So, once again, they let the gang do their thing to eliminate it. 3) Well... They couldn't have a plot if the machine they made _could_ transport the Mystery Gang in, keep the phantom virus in, and also prevent the phantom virus from getting out. And with the music "getting progressively worse", it's like you went in expecting cyber chase to be just as moody and edgy as zombie island, only to set yourself up for disappointment. The music in zombie island is heavy rock which complements the dark, atmospheric nature of the movie. However, cyber chase isn't supposed to be edgy, late 90's "but it's scary GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH". It's goofy, light-hearted and poppy, which reflects back at the *overall* family friendly movie tone that it has established. Imo, these video have two completely different tones and set out to be two different things. But instead we have this, saying that Wind Waker is bad just because Majora's Mask exists. Sorry man, you lost me there.

what I love about this is that since everybody is suspicious there is no twist villain like in a lot of scooby stuff so you don't know who is helpful and who isn't; so if you forgot most of the movie or are watching it for the first time its a surprise about who is good and bad which is one of my favorite parts of this movie.

I gotta say Scooby-doo and the Cyber chase is my favorite moive! It is mainly nostalgic bias talking but I cant help it. I know it may lack in some areas but everytime I watch it I am brought back to when I was young playing it on a jail-broken orginial xbox console with frankly the worst resolution. This films warms my heart everytime I see it. When I am in the mood for a feel good experience I watch this bad boy. For me not other scooby-doo movie/show gives me the since of joy that this movie does which does sound a little silly typing it out now but I still stand by this movie for always being there as an entertaining film to bring me back to when I was younger.

Cyber chase holds a special place in my heart but it definitely is a “Needs Improvement” kind of film. The animation, music, and overall writing could have been better. The story could’ve been more focused and, especially in regards to developing the mystery and suspects. Speaking of which, you don’t spend a lot of time with the suspects at all. I still love the hijinks in the virtual world, and the “meeting our virtual selves” part, but it did feel aimless and filler-y at times. I’m always so surprised (and happy lol) at how treasured Cyber Chase is by the general Scooby Doo fan. I feel as if the Alien movie, the Witch’s Ghost, and Zombie Island are far more deserving of such high regard…
