There’s an easter egg in Octopussy that many won’t understand. When Bond is jumped by the tiger in the jungle chase and he says “Siiiit!” and does the hand gesture - that’s a direct reference to Barbara Woodhouse, an elderly dog trainer who was absolutely massive on UK TV around 1981. Her “Siiiit!” and hand gesture was her very famous catchphrase.

When the movie came out there was a german advertisement for Esso about gas for automobiles. It was about a tiger and the slogan can be translate as "Put the tiger in the tank". And in the german version of Octoussy Bond says: "You belong in the tank". That makes it more funnier that the tiger goes away after he said that and in my opinion it's a good solution. No one in Germany knows Barbara Woodhouse, so they used another reference and joke.

Excellent, well-reseachred video. But regarding the "Old Albert" name for the alligator in "Live and Let Die," that could have been a reference to Albert the Alligator, a character from the comic strip "Pogo," which was hugely popular in the United States in its time. Created by Walt Kelly and lasting from 1948 to 1975, the strip was set in the Okifenokee Swamp and starred Pogo, a purple opossum. It was a political satire, known for condemning the red scare and McCarthyism during the 1950's. The strip coined the phrase "We have met the enemy and he is us" for the first Earth Day, April 22, 1970. At least in the US when the movie debuted, that's the Albert audiences may have first thought of.

Worth mentioning is the fact that any number of 007 movies (not all of them from separate eras) have 'references of sorts' to those with the same lead actor. Not sure if if anyone has observed the stairwell fight in Craig's final 007 movie appears to be a "slight throwback" to his first, where he encounters a villain and they got killed : only 007 never made an 'joke' in Casino Royale about the bad guy's death - I couldn't help noticing this.

These are fun, and yes, several I didn't know about, so thanks. DAF easily explained and not just silly. The moon set was meant to be a "front" (sign says U.S. Government Restricted Area) - a false cover business as one of NASA's many contracted support businesses to support moon landing missions by testing equipment, moon buggy, and suits for walking on moon (therefore the "slow-motion" movements as the astronauts would have suits weighted-down to simulate slower movements of moon). There were many such businesses, and still are for other NASA missions. This was a perfect front/fake cover business since SPECTRE was working on space satellite technology at the facility. BTW, others probably pointed out that you mentioned wrong car model in NTTD -- not a Sunbeam but a Chevy Bel Air.

Here’s actually another interesting tidbit, the omega Seamaster that bond wears is actually an accidental reference and has an interesting coincidence involved with it. In 1955, then Senator John F Kennedy was recovering from a back injury and was given a copy of the novel Casino Royale. He absolutely fell in love with character, and read every book that he could throughout his life involving James Bond. He’s actually the reason the film series got made in the first place. Five years after reading Casino Royale, Kennedy was inaugurated as the 35th President of the United States. During his inauguration, the watch he was wearing was an omega, Branded dress watch. In 1963, President Kennedy made his speech about going to the moon by the end of the 1960s, but it was not until the administration of the 37th president, Richard Nixon, that the United States actually went to the moon, the watch that was issued to the Apollo 11 astronauts was a racing watch, called a speed master made by Omega. Exactly 37 years after the Apollo 11 mission Casino royale gets its first proper film adaptation. In the film Bon is wearing a Seamaster made by Omega. bond is accidentally referencing JFK and moon landings with that watch.

There is another Easter egg in No Time To Die that some people may not know. Remember when Paloma told Bond in the wine cellar that she had 3 weeks training? Well it's true. Ana De Armas trained for 3 weeks for her role in NTTD in real life. After she kept telling Cary Fukunaga, " I just have three weeks training" many many times. Cary told Ana, "Say that in the movie." And the rest became history.

That's a fun bit of trivia! That sure works a lot better in the context of the film than when Peter Hunt told Lazenby "this never happened to the other fella" "You should say your line in the film!" ... Haha

One easter egg I would like to point out from No time to die is the Fantorang (The TV show Mathilde was watching) who is a popular children's TV star here in Norway. Pretty much everyone in the movie theatre had to chuckle a little bit when we saw that.
@thursoberwick19482 жыл бұрын
I spotted that one. A friend of mine got me watching ?Alt for Norge (apologies - All for Norway) on KZbin, and Fantorangen featured in one of the episodes. So I picked up on it immediately. Most of the Norwegian scenes are filmed in Scotland though. Typical film industry... the Scottish scenes in Casino Royale '67 were filmed in Ireland (as was much of Braveheart), and the Norwegian scenes in NTTD were mostly filmed here! Also note the Proust ref. Someone else has picked up on it.

Great video, I loved it. There was some I already knew but there were also alot I didn't know either. Like the For Your Eyes Only, Octopussy and Licence To Kill easter eggs for example. Thank you for making this

Most of my videos do, ironically this was a last minute idea I pulled together in a full day of work, the day before easter! And somehow, that became my most popular video yet. (In terms of gaining views the fastest)

Great video. Fun & informative! You should do another one of those fans reviews for each movie you originally did leading up to the cancelled NTTD. That was awesome.

Not a easter egg but i've heard that License to Kill has a "movie curse". In the final chase scene location, there is a urban legend that say that bus with nuns fell off the cliff. At those scenes they also say that Dalton almost died in one of then and you can see a hand of fire after Bond sets Sanchez on fire.
@DutchBondFan2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I heard those! Insane arent they?

No Time to Die was cursed with a bit of bad luck. Not only did Craig suffer some injuries, its release date clashed with certain recent events.

The traffic warden who gets sprayed with water during The World Is Not Enough pre credits Thames chase was an actual traffic warden who was the star of a British reality TV show from the time; this was possibly lost on non UK audiences.

11:03 Martin Campbell also has a cameo in Casino Royale. He is the airport worker that Carlos necktwists to death to steal his truck

I knew there were some easter eggs in the movies, but I never realized just how many there must be.
@TyroneDaviesWELSHMAN2 жыл бұрын
Excellent video but the Martin Campbell cameo in Goldeneye wasn't the case sadly.. However, one you could have shouted out.. Was that when Bond arrives in Russia.. The airport was actually the front of Ascot racecourse.. which of course featured as itself in View To A Kill..

In the movie Thunderball when bond traps the guy in the steam chamber, there is a line only in the german version. Something like "sweat my dear, sweating makes tiny eyes..."

Most of these eggs were known with the far stretches well explained. All except at 8:50. After replaying a few times, I get it. It's some un-phrased notes from the song "Nobody Does It Better".

If you played the door sequence over from FYEO alongside the scene in TSWLM, where Bond and Amasova are on the dhow on the Nile, it's right there. Took me a replay or two as well!

A crying shame the GOLDFINGER-reference in QUANTUM OF SOLACE (this time the girl is covered in oil and not gold-paint) was such a throw-away. Still love the movie.

Here's a special Easter Egg: Some of the actors & stunt team from the James Bond films starred in the *"Indiana Jones"* franchise. • Vic Armstrong (the stunt coordinator for three of Bronsan's four Bond films) as well as Martin Grace (Roger Moore's stunt double) were stunt doubles for Harrison Ford in the first three Indy films. • Dickey Beer (the stunt supervisor for *"Tomorrow Never Dies")* played three Thuggees in *"Temple of Doom"* and a German agent in *"The Last Crusade".* • Wendy Leech (daughter of George Leech and did stunts for several Bond films) was the stunt double for Karen Allen & Kate Chapsaw. • Sean Connery (1962-1967, 1971, 1983, 2005 video game) as Henry Jones, Sr. • John Rhys-Davies *("The Living Daylights")* as Salla. • Philip Stone *("Thunderball")* as Captain Blumburtt. • Julian Glover *("For Your Eyes Only")* as Donovan Scott. He even used a Walther PPK (Bond's firearm in the past films, pre-1997) to critically injure Indy's father. • Allison Doody *("A View To A Kill")* as Dr. Elsa Schneider. • Vernon Dobtcheff *("The Spy Who Loved Me")* as the Mansion Butler who exclaimed he's "Jesse Owens/Mickey Mouse". • Michael Byrne *("Tomorrow Never Dies")* as Ernst Vogel. • Pat Roach *("Never Say Never Again")* played three baddies in the first three Indy films. • Mads Mikkelsen *("Casino Royale 2006")* as Jürgen Voller.

During lockdown, couldn’t go out much and lack of sex, I watched all the Bond films again (bar NTTD obviously) thoroughly. One thing I looked through in each was to find date references to the time of production and/or film release. I didn’t count fashions, trends, advertising styles (like 7up in Moonraker) technological updates etc but things that may carry a date/date range of the time. A few films don’t have them. Many do. OHMSS (letters between Gumbold and Sir Hilary Bray), Casino Royale (text messages and security footage) are very easy to spot. In the PTS for Octopussy, it has the most obvious reference to a date in the franchise when Bond’s/Torro’s pass is dated 25.08.1982. I only recently spotted that in DAD, Jinx’s date of birth doesn’t appear to be “Friday the 13th”… Pre-October 2014 UK car tax disc appear in shot regularly (Astons and Lotus) and sometimes can be read giving a date range of when filmed. If you ever get as a sad as me, there’s a lot of date references in the films to find. There are some miscellaneous ones as well.

That is awesome. I grew up with many of those movies from my parents watching them. I havent watched any in years. One Bond fact I always liked was that Alice Cooper was gonna do the theme from The Man With The Golden Gun. It is kinda crazy how it does sync up with the opening credits.
