Imagine a Hypothetical Level 3 Curse Mark Sasuke would be around near Sage Mode Naruto level. Sasuke would look in CSM 3 with a more monstrous appearance, larger wings, and a long tail. Imagine Sasuke with Curse Mark Level 3 unlocks a more potent power-up from than Crurse Mark Level 2 form, with a partial connection to nature's chakra, manifesting in an even more monstrous transformation. I feel like the design of Sasukes stage two curse mark doesn't work with his outfit in part one. The skin tone clashes with the blue outfit, and the hair and cross clash with the headband, cluttering his face a bit. A thematic solution for sasuke to keep the curse mark after his last fight with naruto could be that instead of removing it, he makes it his own. He changes the curse mark somehow so instead of becoming demonic he becomes angelic looking when using it(something like a dark angel aesthetic). This could serve as buff for sasuke rather than a nerf.

the curse mark is one of the coolest amps in the series, but it has heavy drawbacks for an amp that falls off later in the series. CM would have been less relevant later in the series, as the boost it gives you is nowhere near as big as late series amps. eventually sasuke gets so powerful that the curse mark would cause no serious advantage over his base form and certainly not a big enough amp to justify using something that degrades his mind and body over time. IMO if kishi was to keep CM around instead of not having itachi remove it he should still have itachi do his thing but have sasuke seek out a way to regain it and eventually get a better version either without the drawbacks and/or with more tricks that might make the drawbacks worth it. Either that or have sasuke keep it but modify it himself to the same end goal. of course the mark also has the issue that its effects are never shown, as you mentioned, but having sasuke have the mark longer would just raise more questions from the audience of where the downsides are. It definetly would have been cool for sasuke to keep his snake jutsus.

@@zytha2890 yeah that was arguably more important then the strength boost it gave him, especially once shippuden rolled around. But once sasuke got MS and ESPECIALLY EMS he got susanoo, which is one of the most powerful defensive and offensive justsus in the series on top of it also being able to fly once he got it perfected, and with EMS it has literally no downside what so ever. When you look at naruto it might be one of the most different series from beginning to end. In the original they were ninjas that could shoot fireballs and some of them had crazy monsters but not many. By shippuden every important character was lightspeed and capable of blowing up continents, and by boruto they are literally fighting space aliens, like a dollar store version of the EDF. Not to mention by boruto we went from "ninjutsu are super OP" to "every relevant character can absorb ninjutsu".

naruto didnt have his fuinjutsu developed until the end with shukaku granting him that power. if he had learned it earlier and was proficient in fuinjutsu like minato, in this final battle, he could have sealed sasukes curse mark himself, in a strategy devised with kurama. this would have added an extra layer of strategy to the final battle, being more than just powerful jutsu being thrown at each other

Yeah, it would be genious since the great point in favor of naruto in comparison to Sasuke was that he was an creative strategist. While Sasuke is shown to be skillful in a more technical way, Naruto has a more creative thinking finding ways to go against his limitations Really...one of the best moments of the fight for me is when Sasuke tries using amaterasu on Naruto, and naruto reacts imbuing his arm in Kurama's chakra then throwing it in the ground. The curse mark and Orochimaru are one as in if you loose one you loose both. That's why when Itachi sealed away Orochimaru Sasuke lost those powers because that power runs on Orochimaru's chakra. Its similar to sage mode in the sense of if you have more of the nature chakra then your chakra that nature chakra takes you over and when you have less chakra then the curse mark Orochimaru manifests and takes you over. Same thing with the untamed tailed beasts if you have less chakra than them they can take you over if you are sufficiently weak enough. Basically when you have foreign chakra in you, you have to be able to have more or a balance of your chakra than the foreign chakra or else depending on the circumstances bad things could happen.

What I would favor is Sasuke evolving his Curse Mark into a proper Sage Mode so that he could add it onto his Susanoo and thus more frequently use Armored and Perfect Susanoo, maybe even equip the robes, wings, and tengu mask of his Perfect Susanoo onto himself as a suit of armor that also grants him added mobility. Actual spirit weapons for his Susanoo (I’m thinking the Ame no Makakoyumi (Heavenly Rain Bow) which can make it RAIN KIRINS (and Sasuke can even absorb and control the lightning at will)-as well as the Kusanagi no Tsurugi after Itachi gives the Totsuka no Tsurugi to Sasuke) and a second Mangekyō technique would also be nice (I’m thinking Nakisawame-it works kinda like the Zero System from Gundam Wing and even allows the user to see through shadow clones and instantly identify the real one, which would make Naruto the underdog in the final battle as he SHOULD BE for the story to have actual tension).

While I get the symbolism of him losing the curse mark, I still think that it's a waste that he lost it. The utility and the aesthetics it provided Sasuke were great, his first Shippuden design was even made with CS2 in mind and that's just great! I think him learning about the Ryuchi cave and doing what Orochimaru couldn't, mastering Snake Sage mode, would've been neat. Inorganic Reanimation would be ridiculously scary to deal with when it's in the hands of a tactical genius like Sasuke!

The thing is, the Curse Mark isn't a boost you can spam to your hearts content, in Part I time and time again we're reiterated that Curse Mark Level 2 drains a lot of chakra, Sasuke only uses that level in very few intervals (in the final part of his fight with Naruto in Part I and in very few intervals in Part II when he needs a boost) so compared to his Sharingan boosts it's rather inneficient.

Specifically Kakashi tells Naruto that he has more chakra. I wouldn't say Sasuke's decision to destroy Konoha necessarily made him a villain given everything we found out about Konoha and how much they bullied and took from the smaller nations. It'd be similar to how Hollywood used to make everyone who was against America the "Bad Guy" when some of them just wanted revenge on the country that destroyed their lives like Konoha destroyed Sasuke's. Sasuke was born into an Uchiha curse of hatred, Indra's curse of hate and deeply traumatized by his own brother at the hands of Konoha, spent two years training under a vile and psychopathic murderer and STILL didn't delve into the depths of evil his contemporaries did (even at his most twisted and dark moments), despite having the most reason. I read a fic once where instead of the curse mark coming from Juugo's random extinct clan, but was actually first developed from Hashirama's cells as a shortcut for Orochimaru to access nature chakra and eventually Sage Mode, and was adapted to help his immortality as well. It actually makes a lot of sense because we already know that Orochimaru was experimenting with Hashirama's cells for mokuton, and we also know that he was a Sage who (as far as we currently know at least) wasn't aligned with a specific summons contract, as instead of calling any summons he always uses his mokuton and seems to accesses nature chakra by himself. Also, the giant wooden buddha with the millions of hands that he summons when in Sage Mode, plus the way Sasuke's curse mark transformation includes wings made of lots of hands? It would fit so well!

The Cursed Seal of Heaven is noted multiple times to be Orochimaru's collar. Itachi before he died wanted to remove Orochimaru's influence from him, and indeed, Sasuke goes from a snake (Hebi) to the one that consumes the snake, a hawk (Taka). It would not do to have him keep it even after Orochimaru is removed.

When itachi purged oro from sasuke, it was thematically and narratively beautiful and fitting. It makes perfect sense. When itachi first witnesses sasuke possessing and drawing upon the curse mark, he doesn't seal it right there and then. Itachi leaves it be, and he recognizes that sasuke needs it for the time. When itachi hears that sasuke has escaped to orochimaru, he again does nothing. When they finally fight and he sees sasuke has truly become strong, in oart because of oro, but in part on his own, via kirin, itachi reaffirms to himself that it is truly time for his plan to purge oro's influence, and unlock sasuke's true inheritance as an uchiha, the mangekyou, and, at last, his own eyes so that they may provide sasuke an eternal light. EMS(heavenly eyes that see the truth of creation without obstruction) > curse mark of heaven Sasuke truly sheds the skin of a snake, who was never his true identity to begin with, instead affirming his true identity, that of a hawk, and a hawk has their own burdens to deal with. A mature hawk doesn't have time to deal with the jealousies of an earthbound snake. The mangekyou represents a curse altogether, but it also represents sasuke's true burden. The reason why his family was truly wiped out. The reason why others desire and fear him. The burden of possessing power capable of destroying, shaping, or protecting the world around them, and what to do with such power.

It's because the amount of chakra he received made him feel that strong. By the time Shippuden came along, Sasuke in base was so powerful that using the cs wasn't really worth it. So it was used in small bursts when he needed the chakra

I like the video, but I think the point of sasuke losing the curse mark and gaining the MS was a way to show Sasuke lost one curse and gained a new one. A much stronger curse. While Naruto’s curse, Kurama is purified and turned into light energy. I will say it would’ve been cool to see a curse mark susanoo fusion with wings and long hair.

Curse mark is just imprefect sage mode. At the end, Saske is able to use and detect nature chakra, so at some point it just becomes pointless to even use this power. Even if Saske would reposess the curse mark, unless it would be from orochimaru, it would just be absorbed into already existing powers.

Imagine if sasuke never lost the curse mark and the “special chakra” that’s released from the brain when an uchiha awakens their mangekyou sharingan gets mixed the curse mark making it evolve giving sasuke a unique evolution beyond what Jugo and orochimaru can provide. On one hand, it sucks that the cursed mark disappeared but i quit disagree with you . For me, the Mangekyo Sharingan nails Sasuke's real curse. It's not just Sasuke cursed by his bro, but the entire Uchiha clan slammed by Konoha. The Mangekyo ties Sasuke even closer to the Uchiha curse, which is basically his ultimate curse (used to be the cursed mark). for Jugo, I'm glad he had his ''time to shine'' during the war because it allowed once more to highlight the difference between Sasuke and Naruto and introduce the idea that Sasuke can never achieve his goals alone, unlike Naruto, who was already complete.

The sharingan always looked the coolest when it had the curse mark in the first state. We needed more of that with the purple smoke and purple chidori like in the games. Sasuke would probably even win in his final fight with Naruto having that senjutsu amp and we get CM Susanoo with Sasuke using it on his own.

Narratively in my opinion how the story took place makes the most sense. They were never meant to mirror one another as an end game. In fact, they were opposites. Naruto's power was not his own, yet his end goal was to make it his own power through determination and willpower. Sasuke's power like Naruto's was not his own, but he only ever sought out greater power to find his own strength. The curse mark was a means to an end and always had been. Shippuden proves this out the gate when Sasuke knew the power Orochimaru gave him could no longer push him to where he needed to be/go. Their powers and how they obtained them are a duality of one another. Sasuke gaining power by losing the curse mark was meant to be a representation and evolution of his character, flaws, ideology and all that. It also narratively pushed the story arc of characters and gave some justice like Itachi as far as their history and reasoning for their actions.

That’s how the truth be behind the authors choices for the same. Toriyama the creator of DBZ didn’t like drawing cells black spots so he made the new Cell Max have no spots to save time. Same with SSJ3’s long hair. Too much time drawing every spike. Also with the entire SSJ transformation in a whole. He was tired of filling in the dark hair and costed a lot of ink. So he made ssj white hair (in manga) to save time.

I would’ve preferred it if Sasuke just had Orochimaru’s chakra inside him to match Naruto and Kurama. Orochimaru becomes subservient to Sasuke anyway, plus it’s just a fragment, and he can exist outside of his curse mark. Sasuke’s Curse Mark 2 was way too cool. It shouldn’t have been removed. Plus it WAS stated to be a power and chakra amp based on how the Sound Four described it, not additive. Such a waste imo. And the Orochimaru inside Sasuke could’ve eventually mastered gathering nature energy for Sasuke to amp his Curse Mark 2 to an Imperfect Sage Mode like Jiraiya with Ma and Pa. Imperfect Sage Mode Sasuke with EMS would’ve been SO GOD DAMN COOL.

After that fight I had imagined juugo basically fusing with sasuke to both save him/the team and buff, allowing for an amped curse mark that he could use in the same way as jugo and perhaps evolve. the main problem with the curse mark is the *only* thing it draws chakra from is Orochimaru and no one else the only way to make the curse mark stronger is to *utterly* absorb orochimaru unconditionally or maybe find a way to manipulate it so that the people he marks he can drain chakra from
