Seriously though, hope she's okay, existential crisis can be a bit close to breakdown...especially with wine. Alex, if you see this, fair warning for black hair dye, even if it says it's temporary, sometimes it sticks like permanent and you have to grow it out. Maybe dark brown with a warmer skintone? I tell you this from experience - warm-neutral skin tone and I dyed my hair black in uni, and it washed me out completely. Should have gone dark brown as the red undertones were missing in the black :D edit: I think your hair is a lovely colour, even if you're not completely keen, and split dyeing seems to be pretty fashionable at the moment, so good luck and enjoy!

I live in Japan and learned the hard way that a lot of ash-toned Asian hair dye will turn your hair completely purple if you're starting out with blonde. They're often formulated for darker hair tones that still have a lot of orange/yellow in them even if dyed lighter, so if you're starting with light blonde you won't have enough warm tones to balance out the cool. I'm glad you're happy with it and it looks great! However, if you get sick of the purple, you can probably try using a deposit-only warm-toned brown dye and it will probably turn into a more ash-brown and eventually fade into a light reddish brown.

I also had to experience the hard way that asian hair dye/bleach does not work on my hair. While living in Japan (I was rather young at that time) I tried to turn my brown hair blonde. I know, bad idea. Eventually it turned out yellow...

As a licensed stylist, most colors keep oxidating the longer they are left on, so probably at 30 minutes the color would have been more of a “metallic ash” instead of purple. Either way the purple is stunning!!
@StrawberryGirlBSL

I think it was more so the fact that the box dye was meant for dark hair and she didn’t have any pigment in her hair to begin with. Also the porosity of her hair

I definitely think that has something to do with it too! Usually if hair is that light and we go darker a filler is used, so that definitely could have something to do with it!

My hair is bleached to completely white and about 3 mins of overtone, that I mixed with double the amount of conditioner to dilute it, gave me a very vibrant purple 😂 I wanted it more lilac... oh well 🤷🏻‍♀️
@KG9551
@KG9551 2 жыл бұрын
@@lemondew8138 in the future if your hair is really porous from bleaching and you want a pastel, try dyeing it while it’s wet. It will absorb less color that way. It’s a good idea to dampen highly porous parts of your hair while toning as well, if Alex toned her blonde ends damp and left the root area dry, the toner wouldn’t have given her that silver purple

I’m so sorry to hear the second surgery didn’t fix the breathing issues. That’s such a shame. I have a lot of nose issues and am semi hesitant to go forth with a septorhinoplasty because of your experience! I’m hoping that since I am not asking for any cosmetic changes whatsoever, that’ll make things easier for my surgeon… still super nervous though and as a PhD student who works year-round, I don’t have time to go in multiple times for multiple procedures. Just wanted to rant based on my own breathing issues and such. 😭 Happy belated birthday and cheers!

I had deviated septum repaired and had no issues. Obviously you should be comfortable with who is doing the procedure and the amount of correction that needs to be done but if you can't find someone who is resonating with you wait until you find a surgeon who does to do the procedure. Especially with the nose, you want someone who is conservative rather than overly aggressive.

Just be really careful and speak with a lot of specialists first. I have breathing issues (can't breathe through my nose, no deviated septum though) and I had surgery to fix it and it literally didn't fix the issue. My nose is worse now. Hey, same! I started dying my hair by myself almost two years ago, after attempting to venture into more extreme colors with the family-approved stylist. My mom hated it at first, but has admitted it does suit me. I have three tattoos, with three more planned, and even though my mom admits she doesn’t like tattoos, she likes mine. She’s even offered to pay for a couple! I just got three piercings two months ago, much to her chagrin, but she’s grown to like them. My personal style is even something outside of her personal taste and used to make comments on people who dressed like I wanted to. She’s admitted that she could never actually dislike my style because I always make it look good. Parents have preconceived notions and will operate with them until you break them. Everything I’ve done is against my mother’s wishes, but she doesn’t have a problem with them.

I'm pretty sure she doesn't think so, and loves me regardless! :)

Lmao I love this video. LOVE. One thing I've learned is that after 30, you really could careless what other ppl think anymore. I shaved my butt length hair off mid 2020. My mom gasped and tried to snatch the clippers away from me as I walked out into my living room with them, flung my head upside down and buzzed a line down the back of my scalp lmao. Wigs are so widely acceptable now that I just wore different ones when I wanted long hair. And I cannot tell you how amazing this summer was without long thick hair stuck to my sweaty neck. And the shower time, my lord, my hairs washed in under 5 min! It used to take me 15 just to wash the conditioner out before. If you want to live out your best EMO adult life, you do it!! There's lots of wigs and clip in fringes so you don't have to have it permanently, have fun! You only live once!!

My mom dyed my hair dark plum when I was 10. It was an experiment to see if the chemicals would kill lice. Not only did it work, I felt so freaking cool going to school with a new hair color. Although she wouldn't let me do overly crazy colors, she let me dye it relatively frequently after that and I'd usually go with a dark purple toned brown or a brighter red.

Oh I was allowed to dye my hair, I just didn’t ask about it until I was 14 (freshman year of high school) been doing it almost ever since. Throughout the years I only stuck to strips of color (blue and purple) but I have ventured out since and did go fully purple last year (I’m now 20) Tbh I got into it because my mom dyed her hair, and now we do our hair appointments at the same time. The only thing I’ve stayed away from pretty much my entire life is forms of styling (curling and straightening) I swear I can not sit still enough to want to go through that, and MUCH prefer air drying my hair)

When I started watching this video, I felt so worried about the outcome. Although it was funny to hear the bemused spousal tone and announcement that someone had broken in and colored Alex's hair. I never would have thought of using head&shoulders shampoo to tone down a color, but I cannot argue with success. Love the silvery grey purple color.The Gengar description did make me laugh. I have kinky, frizzy, curly, wavy (my hair does a lot better at Geometry than I ever did in school) hair. Sometimes I get irritated and pull it up into a pony tail with a claw clip to get the hair off my neck. While I will never EVER post this on Instagram, I look like a previously unknown species of Oddish. If the previous night was eventful I will look like a Shadow Oddish. Looking forward to the closet clean-out. Those videos usually make me want to duplicate the behavior at home.

The purple is so beautiful and makes your complexion look flawless! (Not that your skin wasn't already!). It just, I don't know the word I'm looking for.... really brightens up your skin tone. I feel the blond/white washed you out a little. 💜💜

Aw I’m sorry you’re still having problems with your nose. I hope that get situation gets resolved for you! Also, Happy belated birthday 🥳 I vote for the short black bob and actually I did something similar with my hair after having long blonde hair for YEARS! I went dark brown instead of black because I don’t think black would look good with my skin tone.

The head and shoulders actually turned out very pretty. It has a pastel ombre type look. The other side is pretty but is def more the ashy metallic-like purple. It actually blends pretty well with the roots too. Im very sorry your still having issues with your nose.

Head and shoulders is normally how I strip temporary colors out of my hair. I would only use it once a week because its damaging. If you let it soak in your hair then scrub the strands in between your hands it pulls the color out. Definitely use hair masks after! It is very drying

I was hoping you would do this! I think you look great with the purple, although I agree it is disappointing you didn't get the grey toned purple that the dye said at first. It may continue to fade to the right tone though. I had a similar bright purple in my hair and it's been fading to what you probably expected. Oh, and a tip for removing hair dye from your skin: hand sanitizer. Just get a little bit on a towel and that will rub it right off. I had to do that all the time when I had long hair and would dye it crazy colors then sleep on my arm and I'd wake up with a purple arm.

@@Renge43 Ah, unfortunately I don't know enough to really know for sure. Did you previously dye it blue? Or even a blue toned black? I've personally had a similar issue but it was because I had previously dyed it blue and my hair decided it really liked blue.

@@Renge43 Oh, so you mean you bleached it, then tried to dye it blue or purple and it turned green? If it immediately turned green then you may need to leave the dye in longer or try a different brand. If it faded to green, the color it was bleached to may have been very yellow.

I’m so sorry your second nose surgery didn’t work out! I have been so hesitant to go back to my surgeon to get mine redone. I had a septoplasty that resulted in my breathing being worse than before. Also the appliance came through the side of my nose. My surgeon said he had never seen that before. Needless to say I’m a little gun shy on pulling the trigger on another surgery. Hope your next surgery goes well!
