I let the male visit one female once a month. I never go hungry. I planted 200 banana plants, 200 patata plants, 200 amadumbe plants, 200 cassava plants, 2 passion frute vines, 2 grinadella vines, 4 pawpaw trees, small vegtable pach with green beens, carrots, spinich and beetroot. I have one peach tree. Then i also have 3 bee hives and a sall pach of shugar cane. My house is small and my land is 40x40 metres including my house, rainwater tanks and chicken run and rabetery. I have some solar power. I am now turning 76 years old and i still can survive living and working alone.

You are the best person on this list, news makers is creating stories for them to use against ANC, rather than teaching people how to make food for themselves. if everyone was like you SA will not be hungry
@ravenblack705211 ай бұрын
@@bozzibozziana5366 I think you take for granted that everyone thinks on the same level. During apartheid all our vegetables came from our garden. We also had a few fruit trees that our vegetables were grown around. I had my own little patch that I tended. All we did once a month was buy our dry staples. I can tell you that most of our neighbours did not do the same. Whenever our garden yielded more than we could consume (like potatoes, tomatoes and mielies) we shared these with our neighbour's. My father was forthright to the point of rudeness. He asked our neighbour's why they did not plant. All he got were excuses. Fortunately back then, everyone was working and no one was starving. Today when I go back home, most people are unemployed and they are making more of an effort at growing their own food gardens. It's been over 20 years since my father has passed but they all say that they learnt from him. Perhaps we should get Afriforum to help these areas and teach them to plant, how to use save seeds from the current crops for replanting and how to harvest and store water. There's no point in berating people without teaching them. We therefore step in and help by whatever means we are able to.
@ravenblack705211 ай бұрын
@@bozzibozziana5366 Further to my comment above, it is ludicrous that you even attempt to absolve the ANC of their responsibility after 30 years of failures. They've killed our economy, driven away most of the investment which has resulted in the hunger problems our country faces. It's therefore disingenuous of you to accuse the creators of this piece that is highlighting a gross failure by government which is not only hurting but killing our people. Sadly, you miss the mark. Had government not interfered with their reverse racist laws, our country would be prosperous. It would have surpassed its potential. We would not have children dying of starvation. This should wound you deeply. It bothers me that it doesn't. It shows a complete lack of humanity and empathy.

As hard as it is to say this, the truth is that the ANC government wants and needs people to be dependent on them. That is why they have ruined the education system so that people do not think for themselves anymore. The ANC thinks it is an achievement to have 27.3 mil + people on grants. It is a way for them to secure their vote. If people fear losing their grants they will keep voting ANC. Instead of teaching people new skills and empowering them so that they can look after themselves. But this causes people not to be dependent on the sate anymore and as they become more aware of what is going on they will see the African National Criminal organization for what they truly are.

To grow food sustainably you need water , seed , and proper planing . Sometimes you need soil tests , fertiliser and know how to control pests or pesticides . Succession plantilng and diversity is needed . To live 12 months and through winter from a garden alone , with no finances to support your garden... definitely not that easy .

The poverty is at rife however people as hungry as they are, they do not stop giving birth to more children which is so unnecessary. Are they giving birth for government. i think the poverty is more in the brain than life. This might sound insincere however i feel we put ourselves to more problems.

It’s absolutely heartbreaking, especially with kids involved. I’m originally from Lesotho but now a US citizen. My daughter helps a few high schools kids back home with sanitary pads and toiletries etc. if she can as an individual then the South African government surely has to! It’s a crime what’s happening!

I have lived abroad for a long while but I studied social work in the Eastern Cape. One of the main tenets of social work is community development and grass roots development includes supplying the resources and skills to plant vegetable gardens in rural areas or wherever people are hungry. I applaud the delivery of food parcels, but it would be cheaper and more sustainable to grow vegetables. It also gives the community a sense of purpose (maintaining the gardens). Abantwana kufanelekile ukutya. I sommer want to go back and grow gardens.

One would need to invest in very, very sturdy fences against cattle and goats first. That is the big problem.

You need money and support for these things. These people doesn't have money. It looks very simple from the outside.

@@raynolings217 I agree. But I have the means to set up a garden and I do well at drumming up support.

There is nothing more cruel and more sad than a child dying of hunger. I wish the South African government would get their priorities straight and really start caring about human rights. The rights of these innocent children. This was heartbreaking to watch.

This is unacceptable, now you know why the people in government is so nice round, they are eating these childrens food.

It deeply saddens me to see the ongoing struggle with hunger in our country. I'd like to propose that @Carte Blanche consider raising donations and sponsors for seeds, specifically for various vegetables and fruits. This initiative could significantly impact communities in villages, especially those with available land on their properties. By providing seeds, we empower these communities to start their own gardens, cultivating a sustainable source of food. This not only addresses immediate hunger concerns but also fosters self-reliance. Extending this initiative to schools could further enhance food security for children. This way, we can contribute to building a foundation for these communities to grow their own produce, ensuring a more stable and long-term solution to the pervasive issue of hunger. The focus on local solutions and community empowerment aligns with the context of our nation, addressing the specific needs of those who need it the most.

We need to start teaching agriculture concepts in communities. Most homes in SA have a yard... even 10% of the yard can be dedicated to growing something. It's such a heartbreaking thing to see... there shouldn't be any hunger in the times we live in...

Unfortunately in S.A. the poor and ignorant are sheep following the incorrect shepard. Lead by example the famous saying. So why can our government leaders have up to 11 or 12 wives and various leaders have between 6 to 15 children but the people cannot...these are poor non-educated ignorant people that do not have access to hospitals only clinics that do not have food never mind contaceptives or birth control or Dr's. Think outside the box mate!!
