because he's not going parallel. These are like half squats. It's good training for when you do remove the training wheels but don't be mistaken for a full natural squat.
@Xplora2133 жыл бұрын
The percentages matter!!! You go low enough, you can can easily go that fast. The Mountain Dog reps out hypertrophy sets of 180kgs with the spider bar. 140 with the power bar is nothing for him. John is also gifted with more than just IFBB muscles 😉
@owlperformance21473 жыл бұрын
@@carl5381 yeah well this depth, just over parallel is where my weak point is, not the bottom so it depends. Also John doesn't go as low because of his lwoer back...
@jessen000013 жыл бұрын
It's a good variation, to mix it up. From experience I know its very important to do the exercise correctly when you are that explosive, the form must be 100% if you go heavy, or the risk of injury is high.

Mr. John Meadows, hope you have time to answer my question! I don't have a box so I have been doing this except with deep pause squats. Getting down just past parallel, pausing for one second, then exploding with as much power as I can muster for 12-20 singles with about 30 seconds to a minute in between. I wave it 4 weeks starting at 45% of max weight and going up 5% each week, then I start over and just keep trying to get faster. Do you think this is a decent alternative? Should I try doing it off a bench to emulate a box until I have one available? Thank you, love your content, especially collabs!

I was interested to learn what a "dynamic squat" is. I have done these for a long time but have always called them pause squats. I pause at the bottom for a second or two then begin coming back up.
@Xplora2133 жыл бұрын
The key is that explosion. Dude with long pants and beard was getting the plates to jump off the bar at the top, it’s not just a pause. Realistically, the pause isn’t required but it makes the concentric easier to isolate.

I'm a bit confused - at the end Dave said "If your bar path is straight then you probably are doing fine". Yet only you John had a pretty much straight bar path. The two others were pretty much going back and forth when sitting down, but Dave hasn't said anything or mentioned anything to address this. I know personally that it's not a big deal,, but that statement just is a bit of a contradiction which I wanted to point out.
