Love it. I'm in Jefferson City MO. I've got an idea for another engine swap project and I really like the idea of using the Audi 4.2 V8 like front the B7 RS4. I'm doing my research and there isn't a whole lot of info on tuning these engines and I came across your video. I was hoping you could tell me what you used for tuning software. I guess my other option would be using a standalone engine management system. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

@@scherer77 Ah ok. Thanks for the reply. Thats pretty much what I'm seeing. I haven't found any good information on tuning the factory ECU. It's looking like my best bet I'll be to just use an aftermarket engine management system like the Megasquirt MS3 Pro. Thanks again for the info.

Theoretically the 6mt should make more power, since it has less loss to the wheels.

@@sid1am They both have 7000rpm redline. Moreover, anything will affect power to wheels on the dyno. If you have lighter rotors and rims considering you're in a perfect world you'll see more power to the wheels because of less unsprung weight.

You haven’t posted in a long while… As the owner of a 2011 S5 and a 2013 RS5, I feel like the 4.2V8 is quite temperamental and scary to modify. Your car still in working order?

No sir its not running haha. The head gasket blew. Its been sitting in my garage for a couple years now. Haven't decided if I want to fix it or sell it as is and get something else. The repair bill will be $20k or so for an engine rebuild or just buying a used motor for it.

Hey man, Nice Vid. After all these years would you recommend installing the kit on a v8 s5 or do you regret it? I’ve got a 2012 auto with only 50k miles and I’m debating between saving up the 8-10k to do the install (unimpressed with stock power) or just using that money for a down payment on an M3 XD
@scherer77
@scherer77 Жыл бұрын
Thanks brother. I'll be honest with you. I'd hold off on supercharging it. The S5 V8 isn't built for more power than it has. My head gasket blew after having it supercharged for about 30,000 miles. I don't have proof that the supercharger caused this, but I suspect its the case. Also, the supercharger maintenance is annoying. The blower needs regular oil changes and you have to remove the front bumper to change it's oil. This supercharger kit will result in your S5 having more power than a M3 has, but in the long term, I think the S5's reliability will suffer.
@megatar3

@@scherer77 thank you so much, I needed to hear this from someone who’s actually done it. Hopefully you enjoyed it while it lasted and can sleep well at night knowing your saving other people like me from the same heartache. Whats the reliability like? , is the car able to be a daily?
@scherer77
@scherer77 4 жыл бұрын
Yup you can use it as a daily. The supercharger needs its oil changed separately from the engine oil, and to do that you need to remove the front bumper. If you drive a lot, you'll be removing the bumper quite often.
@therealjoshtodd
@therealjoshtodd 4 жыл бұрын
Super sick you did all those mods, but does make me a little sad for my S5 if even with $10k dumped into it with a supercharger it'll still be under 400tq on a dynojet. Meanwhile when I had a 2013 mustang it was putting down over 400 with just a CAI and a $400 bama tune :-(

@@scherer77 On the stock tires, about as easy as a sorority girl. The traction control and stability management do wonders, but the stock tires just can't handle the power of the Z06. The Toyo R888Rs are amazing though. They don't suck in the rain and their dry traction is INSANE. This is my Z06 with R888Rs. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJ3ZZ2h5gbSpf7c go to 49 seconds. That is me doing a redline clutch dump trying to do a massive burnout and that was the most I could get (and with cold tires to boot). So in short, yes it's harder to handle than an AWD, but 1) it's more fun that way 2) the computer helps out a lot and 3) it ain't bad if you get the right tires.
@scherer77
@scherer77 4 жыл бұрын
Josh Todd Haha! Man your Z06 looks sick. There's not a single piece of chrome on the outside of it. I had to black out my window trim. Audi for some reason likes to put chrome trim around windows.
