I agree this is pretty fair review with some common situations. However, the no filters is truly the BIG selling feature to me. We have the smaller rather older smaller Dyson upright vacuum and I can tell you that I am not at all gentle with the machine and and after 7 years, still going strong. The only thing we do not like about is the filters. You are correct about the filter in the ball. Again, no filters is time saver to me.

Outstanding and thorough review..........! Just bought my Cinetic today off of QVC...(Gotta love EasyPay)! I owned a DC07 for years, was an outstanding vacuum......Then I got a Shark Rotator......was hooked...but I,ve replaced every part on the Shark over the last year.......nice that there is a lifetime warranty on all parts......but I had to wait 2-3 weeks for replacement parts, I never had to replace a part on my DC07....so I'm going back to Dyson.....BTW...Got the wife the Supersonic hairdryer from Dyson for an early Christmas gift.......she says it's the best she's ever used.....! Happy wife....happy life! LOL

My DC41 for 10 years ago, has the exact same, issues of the 65, I can't ever figure out how to make it rest without pushing it way forward. As for stuff getting gunked up by the top of the bin, well, there is a max full line on the bin. And it is actually pretty easy to take the top part off the bin entirely. Just push the red button and then the button is revealed for the top part from the bin. Push it and pull it all apart. :)

My first Dyson was bought 9 years ago and continues to run good, I recently bought the cinetic to upgrade and to retire my old Dyson, however I was extremely disappointed on the maneuverability of the Cinetic, my wrist end up sore every time I clean my floors (and I'm used to handling power tools), so now I'm deciding to either return the equipment and get something more maneuverable but with filters to clean, or to suck it up and deal with it (however for a $500.00+ vacuum I shouldn't be dealing with this conundrum).

It's a brilliant idea to have no filters but I guess it doesn't work 100% because some particles of dirt are so small they go through the cyclone to the post-motor filter. I also noticed that the Dyson US site offers 3 "new" models (multi floor 2; animal 2 upright and big ball canister muscle head) all of them have a pre motor filter, so I guess they are going to stop making the cinetic models which is fine. I havent heard anyone complain that its hard to wash a filter once a month. I bought a big ball canister with a pre motor filter and will be receiving it today, much cheaper than the cinetic and the same suction power. I cant wait :D

Well, for the morons that don't know, that complaint about the trap is just plain dumb. It comes off with the push of a gray button at the top of the clear plastic piece so you can clean the entire cleaning trap area. right now on ebay refurb models are only $5 off from each other. so which is better if they are the same price? part of me wants no filter to clean. but then the cinetic tech seems like its 1 more thing likely to break in the future. are the tips oscillating from the air movement or by motor? also, the fact that the hose loses suction so quickly seems like it would get real annoying. but since they are nearly the same price refurbished, wouldnt make sense to get the "better" cinetic? though the 65/up13 is lighter, and technically more powerful?!?!?!?!

for all of the cinetic models (upright and canister), its really sad on how dyson tried to revolutionize on cinetic technology and on how there is no filter maintainence. althouth thats true and good, the one thing they didnt mention was how they decreased the suction power and the added more weight in the ball. i thought that they increased the suction in the motor, but instead, they made a $550-$700 vacuum with low suction, more weight, and an unhygienic way of emptying the dirt bin (upright). when you empty the dirt bin, dust and dirt that float in the trash bin accumulate in the center air duct that leads to the motor and the post motor filter.
@blackice74088 жыл бұрын
+WeGKL it doesnt. the dyson dc65 has 245 airwatts, the dyson bal allergy and the dyson ball animal both have 270 airwatts, and all of them weigh 17.6 lbs, while the dyson cinetic animal and dyson cinetic animal+allergy both have 180 airwatts and both weigh 19.8 lbs
@thedude28978 жыл бұрын
Yes the Cinetic has less air watts, but that doesn't mean much when you have a whole new system of cyclones and a better brush bar. I have both and the Cinetic absolutely sucks up way more stuff. At least it does for me.

Purchased the grey/red Dyson upright shown in this video. It is 18 months old and I am having a problem with it sounding like it is plugged. I have cleaned the canister and wiped the actual cylinder part down with a slightly damp cloth yet the problem persists no matter how many times I repeat this. If I press the little black thing at the top of the canister while the machine is going the sound and suction revert to normal but return as soon as I let go. Any suggestions? I see from newer Dyson no filter models that this canister has been improved and it looks like it may have to do with what I have going on.

Hi, we have one of these and someone broke the button that you push to release the cyclone to dump out all the crud. It's the red button that you press which attaches the handle of the canniser (cyclone I reckon it's called) to the rest of the vacuum. Do you know if this is a replaceable part, and if so what it's called so I can order a new one? Is my only option to buy a whole new cyclone?

Kirby will pick up all that debris mainly because it has an adjustable height, so it won't push it around. The last Dyson I had would suck down to the carpet and make the machine hard to push. It's not suction that makes the difference, it's volume. Being able to pull air through the machine which carries the dirt is the answer. You can pull 28 inches of mercury on a golf ball in a jar and it will bounce around in the jar just as if there is no vacuum at all. I have had two Dyson's and three Kirby's and there is no comparison, the first Dyson I bought I snapped the hasdle right off of it. To Dyson credit they have very good customer service, Kirby on the other hand, I don't know, I never needed it...

Thanks for the great review. Question. Are the back wheels supposed to lock into place so the vacuum can scoot around (without having to pick it up)? I noticed this vacuum doesn't lock into place well so when trying to use the back wheel to move the vacuum around (without having it turned on), it unlocks and goes into the position to vacuum. Have you noticed this as well or is this a defect in my vacuum?
@VacuumAdvisor7 жыл бұрын
Hi Amber. Nope, that's no defect. The back wheels are supposed to retract when you lean the vacuum back.

I wonder if you'd get that extra foot from the hose if the vacuum was at the base of the stairs. I was thinking of selling my DC15 for this due to the maintenance free filters appealing to the couch potato in me :) Another great review Nigel. Thank you.
@VacuumAdvisor8 жыл бұрын
Thanks Neil. Yeah, good point about the length of the hose. It is possible that extending the hose from a point above the vacuum would allow it to stretch a little further without pulling the vacuum over.

How do the suction measurements compare, if one doesn't completely believe Dyson's published numbers? It doesn't quite make sense to me how the Cinetic would have such a significantly lower Air Watt than its predecessor.
@blackice74088 жыл бұрын
maybe if the suction was any higher, then the small particles, and dust that the cinetic cyclones spin out of the airget sucked through the cyclones because the suction will be too much for dust to fall out of the cyclones. i was expecting this vacuum to be more powerful, because it has such a big motor, but the only thing thats different is that it contains noise reducers and extra weight. in my opinion, the vacuum has pros and cons. the pros, its quieter, no pre motor filter cleaning, larger dirt bin, and alot of tools. the cons, its heavy, less suction than their dc65, and extremely expensive
@MarkAgueVacuums8 жыл бұрын
The reason that the vacuum has less suction is because all of the air is being taken from the main air path and being taken through many different directions to all the cyclones and that decreases the power that you get at the hose and the floor head.

Why do you think that the DC65 has 245AW (the new model: the Animal 2 has a whopping 306AW) and the Cinetic Big Ball Upright ONLY has 180AW of suction power? This sizable differential didn't seem to make a difference in your comparison (which in and of itself is strange that it didn't) but I am really wondering why it is so much lower. I thought it was because the Cincetic technology needed to be lower however, I checked the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Canister Vacuum and it was 250AW of suction power (comparable to the DC65 that you are using). So it can't be because the Cinetic technology requires a lower AW rating. Still, why do you thing the Cinetic Big Ball Upright is only 180AW? And why do you think that it performed just as well at sucking up debris in your comparison despite this sizable difference? I couldn't get a satisfactory answer from Dyson.
@zmanifest7 жыл бұрын
I do like the Cinetic technology it's an excellent idea. The flaw here however is the lack of pre motor filters, dirt does tend to get into the motor due to how there's no filter before the motor. I could right to Dyson and ask them to do something about it.

+VacuumAdvisor i have an idea for your next video if you want to do it. Just bought a Cinetic at goodwill for $35. Works fine but needs thorough cleaning. It is genuinely stinky! I blew out the cyclone assembly with an air compressor and then after watching a video showing it's disassembly I elected instead to just wash the cyclone assembly in the bathtub. I flushed a ton of water through it until there was no more dirt coming out and it's currently sitting out to dry. Would love to hear if anyone else went that route. Disassembly of the cyclone unit looks like a real p.i.a!
