Thanks so much. This completely solved my problem. Just like you said there was tons of hair stuck where the belt hooks on inside.

Thanks for the vid..I have a DC 14 that is not spinning. But I believe my problem is the smaller internal belt around the clutch assembly that on mine.. It is hidden on mine by a cover that has to come off in order to replace it. You need a Torx T15 screwdriver to remove the clutch cover. 2 obvious screws and one hidden scree. This is just FYI that their is actually two belts that could cause this problem.

Nice! I found a Dyson in a dumpster a while back that the cord was cut off so I got a new cord and hooked it up and turns right on...after cleaning the brushes and such I realized the brushes don’t spin at all...then upon further inspection I noticed that the pipe valve is missing...would the loss of suction be a reason the brushes don’t spin or is that a motor/belt clutch problem. Thanks for any response.

On that vacuum, you are either missing a belt, or it is stretched too much to spin the brushes. A new belt should be your problem solved, along with cleaning it out a bit in there. 😉

Can you please make a video on how to remove the entire bottom part of the vacuum? I am having trouble figuring that out. Thanks Zach

You just twist all three screws 90 degrees to the left and pull off

I do not currently have one of these available to show, but it is just a matter of a few more screws. 😊

DC17 is one of the best ever and even equal to a kirby. Funny how other peopls DC17 are slightly different from mine.

My dyson has a cover over this belt and I can’t seem to get it off, any tips?

Stan Madlock The only cover I can think of is the one that is a part of the main cover, taken off around 1:05.

It is not the belt, the motor does not spin. I caught a corner of a blanket...it made the noise like the belt fried and stopped. The belt still is okay, it does not spin the bar which BTW is less than 2 months old and worked like a champ until that 3 second snag which always resulted in need for a belt. WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT??
@TheUnsureFox5 жыл бұрын
Not too sure. Does the motor itself still power on and not spin the shaft, or does it receive any power at all? Like, plugged in, power on, and still no noise or anything?

This vacuum does not have a height adjustment. It "sits at the right level on all surfaces," as per it's design. The particular case with this one was simply that the teeth on the belt were worn down to nigh nothing (as is the case with many of these that I have gotten). I repair vacuums on the side, and have done quite a few of these! 😊
