Are there any settings you can use to limit the battery charge level (anything less than 100%) when using the immediate charge mode? I know you can do this if you use departure time settings, as there is a Maximum charge % slider, but I can't find one if you plug in and start an immediate charge.

Great video! Just got a 2019 e-Golf, and I'm very happy with it. I have a strange issue with the delayed charging setting though. If I use e-manager on i.e. a monday and choose departure time every day of the week, the display always says "next departure time: thursday" - that is, it always says that the next departure time is three days from the day I'm on. But - in the app, everyting is fine, and the next departure time is displayed as the following day that I'm on. The car also "follows" the app, and charges in accordance with the settings there. I can also "force" the e-manager to display the following day as departure time if I only tick off that day as an option. Does anyone know what's going on here?

Congrats on getting an e-Golf, it has been my favorite car. My app became non-functional after the 3 yr trial, plus earlier this year I got this from VW, "Beginning February 22, 2022 AT&T, the wireless network provider for VW Car‑Net®, will discontinue their 3G wireless network. This means that the VW Car‑Net telematics system on your 2017 e-Golf will no longer function and your vehicle will no longer transmit or receive telematics data through the Car‑Net system." I would ask the dealer next time you pay them a visit or check out www.myvwegolf.com/forum. BTW this link kzbin.info/aero/PLoL8aT_nHnwSJXtVIotnLTkdGEef2SVYw should take you to a series of e-Golf videos that might be useful.

It is the rate of charge and not the amount of charge. Lets say your home circuit only allows for 10 amp draw before the circuit pops, then if you set MAX Charge to 10, it will only draw that amount until fully charge.

Thanks for the great video. Quick question....If I'm not running an e-manager program it should always charge to 100% correct? My 2018 gets charges anywhere from 160 to 200 km with no changes it settings and minimal changes in outside temperature.
@cfldriven
@cfldriven 5 жыл бұрын
There are so many variables that will increase/decrease your range overall. Tires, thread wear, cornering speed, rate of acceleration, rate of braking, outdoor temperature, wind, changes in elevation, overall speed, weight load of cargo and/or passengers, and of course age of battery. Presently I get 10 miles per segment of the battery gauge. This works out in theory to a range of 140 miles. What I pay attention to is how many miles do I get per segment. In the winter it can easily be half that amount that I achieve in summer. If you see a sudden drop under mostly the same conditions that might be a reason to have the traction battery checked. Thanks for your input.

I am trying to figure out how to get my 2018 e-Golf to not charge during peak times. Using my work location I set the off-peak time as follows: Start: 9:00 PM, End: 4:00 PM. I then plugged my car in (level 1) during that peak time, around 5:00 PM. It starts charging anyways. I made sure to set the minimum charge level in the e-manager to 0%. Although the car has a built in cellphone for Car-Net, it still relies on your smart phone to obtain gps location for map display, your contact list (which includes Bob's house), performing Google searches (take me to Bob's house), and your text messages. The one thing it can't seem to do is automatically is change the clock from/to Daylight Saving Time, go figure.

I sort of recall the before 2017 you had to use the Car-Net app. Once expired you could no longer make changes to it. On 2017 and after you can make changes via the touch screen. Never cared much for Car-Net except for the ability to pre cool or pre heat the interior, but not a $30 a month after the included 3yr membership expired.

Not sure how it works on hybrid, don't believe any were sold in US, but in theory yes it should warm or cool to the set temp. In the EV you can specify if it will use the high voltage battery or the plug. When Car-net worked I could set the temp on the app while car was plugged in and the car would be at the desired temp. Now the car is garaged so I don't have any use for it. Besides in the winter I prefer the seat warmer. Thanks for watching.

The way VW tied the eManager to Departure Time is confusing, and even though this video does a good job of explaining how to manipulate the settings in eManager, it doesn't really explain why eManager has to use a Departure to trigger a charging event. What I wish for this system is a simpler way: set Maximum (not Minimum) charge level and control charge times for off peak charging. This is not really a criticism of the video, moreso of the eManager. But if you want to simply tell the car: charge to Max of 75%, and do this between 1900 and 0700, how would you do this? (forget about the climate part, that part of the setting is pretty obvious) And to be clear: you always have to push the lower button in order for the eManager to control charging, correct? If you simply plug in, then the car is just charging without any control from eManager, right?
@cfldriven
@cfldriven 8 ай бұрын
Recall this was there first EV in US and while I think they got a lot correct the software UI and manual translation could have been better. I guess the reason for departure trigger is that it suppose to provide a charged vehicle by the time you need it as opposed to a start time that may not provide enough time prior to departure time. The car will start charging when plugged in except if you have an active departure set, but this can be bypassed at the charging port button. Honestly I don't find any use for the eManager as my utility rate is constant all day.

Me too - exactly what I want. I have set up a timer that is set to turn mains power on for only the cheap electricity period. Downside to this is that it then seems to ignore the maximum charge setting and will charge to 100% time permitting. Probably missing something but the only way I've found to not over-charge is to manually estimate how long it will take to get to 80% and switch off mains power accordingly.

Because mine seams like it goes to at least 11 prob 12 maybe 13 like 120 percent it hits the ten and the gauge stops but it keeps adding power. Or did they add some kind of mod chip. Or if you have the older battery when you do the update does it add power to it???? And i think once you hit economy mode i think if you step hard enough you can break the governor off. @@midgetShootingGunsAK The traction battery is on the 2016 is rated at 24.2kWh, whereas the 2017 has a35.8 kWh. This increases range on average from 83 to 125 miles. The 2017 also an electric motor that outputs 134 horsepower, compared to the 2016's 115 horsepower.
