Thank you! Your dad’s video has helped me twice. Each time, the machine has started working again after cleaning and oiling. Just wanted to mention that the English version of the manual for this machine basically says don’t ever take it apart and oil it yourself. It’s almost like they want you to treat this as a disposable machine! I took mine to a repair shop when this first happened, and they basically laughed me out of the store, pointing out that what they would charge to look at it was half of the purchase price. It made me furious. So again, thank you for making and posting the video. 🙏🏼

It was very unfortunate that the repair shop thought the sewing machines under $200 were disposable. Do you still have Brother sewing machine? I'm a beginner and thinking of getting either this model or one of Babylock machines.

THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!!! My 3 year old Brother 6000i was doing the same thing. I vacuumed inside (yuck). And still had an issue. But thanks to your video I got the nerve to remove that computer board and loosen, clean and oil those 2 ball joints, wiggle/turn them, and YAY!!!! It is purring like new and so far - today no more stuttering or E6 errors. I sew quite a bit and "really" "really" love this machine. (I probably would have gone out and bought another 6000i if I couldn't fix it) I am very thankful you and your Dad selflessly took the time to make this video.

She Kelly I’m so glad you got your machine fixed without having to pay someone to do it. I was hoping it may help a few people and am happy to hear just how many people have fixed their own machines.

Thank you for this video!!! I had the exact same problem but when I asked about it I got the answer that the thread was jamming at the top of the machine, which was not the case. Watching this repair gave me the confidence to try it myself and save $105 on a repair bill. Very, very much appreciated.

Thank you and your dad for posting this video it helped me to fix my machine. My wheel was also tight but once I loosened the screws that held the wheel bearing in place I was able to free up the wheel that was stuck. My machine is all cleaned, oiled and now I'm back in business.

This is EXACTLY what my sewing machine started doing this afternoon! I cleaned out the bobbin case and all the areas within the bobbin area, changed the needle, re-threaded my machine, etc. but nothing worked. Now that I've found this video, it appears that I need to get inside the machine and clean the bearing area. Yippee. However, I thank you very, very much for posting this video so I know what I need to do to get my machine working normally again.

Thank you so much for this video. I had this same problem and was scared to open the machine but with you video I opened it. I didn’t get behind the circuit board but when I took the brackets off the bearings and reattached them I tightened way too tight and could not budge the wheel. So I loosened the brackets a bit and the machine works great! Wow! So very thankful to you for posting. Now I can get back to quilting:)

I just set up this machine out of the box, my first time using a sewing machine and first time buying from Brother, and I’m experiencing this error + a tight hand wheel so thank you. I’ll be contacting Brother just to see if anything can be done as I just bought this machine, but if they don’t help 1) that’s the end of buying more products from them and 2) I can try to fix it myself hopefully

My husband is attempting this repair right now. He didn’t have a lot of luck with the bearing your dad is working on, but he did with the bearing near the bottom. It loosened the hand knob instantly...or maybe it was both. I’ll let you know if this fixes it. Thank you so much! So much for a machine that is not supposed to be oiled!
@doloresmaestas38925 жыл бұрын
They don’t make them to last anymore. Most people will give up and buy another one. It did take a lot of WD40 and patience to get the other one to move and cleaned all the way.

It did work! I hope your Dad will make a full video showing how to get the back off and remove the motherboard. My husband figured it out but he repairs his carpentry tools and so had a good idea of how to make basic repairs. I couldn’t even find the right screw driver! Lol!

Kay Jones sometimes it’s as simple as taking the bobbin out and cleaning the. Rethreading the whole machine again. Sometimes it’s a little piece of lint or thread that can get caught in the bobbin area. I hope you find the issue and can get your machine working again. It’s a fun machine when it’s working.
@KJ_615 жыл бұрын
@@doloresmaestas3892 It is a brand spanking new machine. This is my first machine so I am new at this. I cleaned out the bobbin and all the debris but I do not have any machine oil. I will have to get some. It runs fine when on #1 but it is sticking on #2 and #3. Everything inside is new so I cannot see any black gunk or indicators of sticking. But I will go back in when I get the oil and apply a little to places that could possibly be sticking. I will give you an update. Thanks Again!!!

would wd40 or zoom spout oil work better? I always thought it was the lighter oil that was needed....I'm learning new things here, I also have a brother, but it's mechanical rather than computerized.
@fastfoodaddict48584 жыл бұрын
BK Lulu yes that lighter oil is best for sewing machines. Because this was basically a corroded bolt the wd40 worked. He sprayed some on a cotton swap and worked at it to clean it. It dies take time and patience but it sure beats buying a new machine or paying a mechanic to do it.

I think I have this exact issue. I can't seem to get behind the circuit board to access the right bearing. But I can hear the crunching of whatever gunk/rust is in it when I try to turn the knob. Did you ever try to contact Brother to address this issue? It seems like poor quality control and design on their part. My machine is pretty new too only owned it for 2 months.
@doloresmaestas38925 жыл бұрын
I did not contact Brother. Have you tried unplugging the circuit board? That’s really the only way to get behind it.

I had the same problem on my Brother machine and when I opened the case the belt that goes from the handwheel to the motor was off! I put it back on and no more Error 6, sews great, but have to take apart again now the tension wheel is stuck (wasn't before I took it apart)....?

@doloresmaestas38925 жыл бұрын
Is it sewing for you Dayna or is the E1 error stopping it? It’s possible you just need to rethread everything to get it going again.
@stephaniehenry93295 жыл бұрын
@@daynasmith1050 I just had this same issue after putting mine back together. You need to take it back apart and make sure when putting it back together that the lever that sticks out behind the thread tension wheel is NOT to the right of the raised presser foot switch plate (inside the sewing machine) This is keeping the switch from being unpressed. Take the machine apart again, raise the presser foot, and make sure the lever goes to the left of the little triangle (shark fin looking thing) and put the machine back together. This will ensure proper alignment of the plates.

@@prapasriwiriyapaibul91 Did you google or look in the book: The foot controller was pressed (or the start/stop button was pressed if the foot controller is not connected) and the reverse/reinforcement stitch button was pressed while the presser foot is raised. Lower the presser foot lever before continuing the operation.
