Honestly I'm not even all THAT interested in EA's conference, I just love spending E3 with the Allies. I've been gaming for 33 years, and these guys are so earnest and enthusiastic. Great stuff. Cheers.

So glad Huber was there at the end to remind them about how unexciting everything was with his more realistic score (the rest helped too but his was the first "low" score). 1 interesting new game in A Way Out does not make up for the several double-tosses to "gameplay video" which primarily wasn't, the expected refreshes of near-annual franchises and the rest of the negatives of the conference. Yes, it was much improved from their conference last year but still more can be done to excite players.

Yes they basically showed the same thing they show every year but this year they get a 8? Didn't make sense.I feel like after Kyle gave an 8 the others got influenced by him or had a group mentality. Huber pointing outt that its basically same ea conference as usual but just better than last year they knew they were wrong about giving it an 8. I love Fifa but seriously NOBODY buys the game for its story mode. Everyone plays online or ultimate team. So basically its the same fifa as last year no improvements. Battlefront 2 looks like a real game this time because last time they basically released a multiplayer game only which has only 3 fucking maps. The games will be fun to play but the conference wasn't really great imo. Needed to show full gameplay reveal of anthem here or show visceral star wars or another new ip or bringing an old franchise back.

Maybe you wouldn't care as much if he dissapeared because he doesn't play a main role in content......because he is part time. By nature he will be less known, but people love him. The numbers that a part time employee is pulling with a niche series having a premise based on games nobody has even heard about has little to do with how great he is, and it certainly doesn't speak to his ability of being a main ally if he so wanted to be; I personally think it is clear that he'd be just as popular as Brad, Huber, Blood, Ben, Jones who you listed above. You seem to think that because you can use bold and speak in a condescending fashion it makes you smart, but it doesn't; do you understand that? What do you not understand? Can you understand? Ya I was totally watching Huber's reaction when Kyle, Ian and Ben were talking about giving it an 8-9. I think if they showed Anthem full reveal in this conference maybe you could push it to 8. Anything over 7 is too much. The sports story mode is aight but nobody buys Fifa for that. Everyone gets those games for online and ultimate team so honestly the story mode is wasted resources. -No Visceral Stars Wars -No surprise old franchise like Skate. DeadSpace. Command&Conqueror -Anthem just had a teaser.

I enjoy these streams a lot, but wish the conference took up more of the screen. Having 5 guys looking through me fullscreen is a bit strange. It's also hard to make out all the details of what they are showing in the conference.

Easily the best part of their conference for me was a way out, but I'm not generally a fan of EA games usually....for those that are, glad they cleaned up their presentation in a general sense, was very clean. I mean I know some people just don't like their games but it was muuuch better presentation as they say

In case you didn't hear this already, apparently Battlefront 2 micro transactions are pay to level up instead of playing the game and actually earning your progress. Taken from a gamespot article: "Although Battlefront II won't have a DLC pass, EA will still make more money from the game beyond game sales alone. The game will offer microtransactions for people who want to speed up their progress, Fegraeus confirmed. "When you want to progress and get stuff, you can either play the game and when you play you earn the in-game currency, and with that you can spend towards whatever you want," he told us. "If you want to accelerate that, if you can't play for a week, you can purchase that. The important thing is everything can be earned [through gameplay]. If you're someone who spends time on the game, we love you, do your thing, do what you want to do. If you don't have the time, you can spend money and we love you as well. It's your choice." Fegraeus also assured fans that Battlefront II won't allow players to pay to win. "No, it's not about buying the winning item," he said. "That's not how it works. You know it really seems like they did learn from last year. A lot of improvements in pace and humor were made, but it is EA so there are going to be some fuck ups, but that is also what makes it fun to watch. If last year was a 0/10, this year was at least a 5 or 6/10. Many improvements while still having that odd, lackluster, and smog EA personality.

I don't know if I'm too much of an optimist, but I personally thought the conference was very good. They had good pacing, made fun of themselves, were very relaxed, and they announced/showed off a number of games I am very interested in. Sure, they had a few miss-steps and mistakes, however this was a massive step up and I'd say it was maybe even a B+ for me.

Conrad McGoobs mine is a 5/10 not a bad conference but not a good conference at most a 6/10 because it was definitely above average for EA but bellow average for all the other conferences. No matter what thought it was way better then EA last year but last year was like a 0/10 or 1/10 lol

I watched the pre show after the conference and post show. And it's pretty amazing how much of the panels suggestions EA actually ended up doing. I think they did pretty poorly in actual content, but aside from the weird death stare segment and the end battle and the lack of a real end to the show, I think the nailed the presentation from what they had to show. If they had more games the flow would of course have been better.

If I had to be critical, I would give this press conference a 3 out of 5 stars. Slightly above average, but largely lukewarm due to a lack of impressive announcements. Pacing was acceptable, not bad. Mixing the sports games with non-sports games kept me attententive, because I didn't say "this is the chunk that doesn't matter to me." I'm glad that Madden is getting a story, even if I don't care for sports games in general. Extreme improvement from the previous year. It is never too late to improve yourself EA. Keep it up. However, next time review your trailers to see if what your presenters are saying isn't going to be "repeated, but better" seconds later. From a personal perspective, this press conference is a 1 out of 5 stars...because my standards are unreasonable, and I'm a Sony fan. Sports games don't interest me, most of the other games had me zoning out a little. Anthem does not even pique my curiousity, because that teaser did nothing for me. Maybe that will change when I see gameplay, but right now? In the back of my mind, I can't help but ask why I would choose an unproven IP like Anthem over Titanfall or Destiny based on that teaser. Not to mention that if you told me that was Gears of War, or Halo, I would believe you. That's how indistinctive it looked at first glance. A Way Out was easily the best thing coming out of EA. I don't hate EA's press conference, I'm lukewarm. I wasn't angry by the end of it, so it's a win in my book, despite my low personal score. I give EA a thumbs up, easily.

Oh, wow, now that I think about it...that teaser trailer for Anthem actually kind of pisses me off. They had gameplay ready to go, ready to be shown, but they gave it to Microsoft. If EA had shown Anthem at their press conference, it would have made it so much better. Heck, EA would have had to cut down on the time they spent talking because they would have to muscle the Anthem trailer in there somewhere. They might have even ditched the idea for a whole multiplayer match for Battleground 2 to be shown during the conference, instead using pre-recorded footage of a multiplayer match that would have been more cohensive in conveying how fun the game could be for the audience... Or they could have had a STORY TRAILER for Battleground 2 during the press conference, and limit the multiplayer match for AFTERWARDS, kind of like Battlefield last year. Man...EA's press conference actually had the potential to be one of the better press conferences this year...never thought I'd say that.

I give it a 4 out of 10. NFS looks good and Anthem look promising but that was it. I refuse to get excited for a Star Wars game that doesn't have you primarily swinging a lightsaber (Jedi Outcast style). I MEAN IT'S STAR WARS FOR PETE'S SAKE! I don't get why everyone's so down on this conference. It's definitely not a great conference, but it's definitely not a bad one, either. It's well-paced, has good announcements and shows more about stuff we wanted to know about (except for Visceral's Star Wars.) All in all, a solid conference. I think people are too hung up on stuff that was never likely in the first place (Skate 4, Dead Space, etc.).

Way too much talking. Too corporate. Only genuine guy that i can take seriously as a gamer was the guy presenting A way out. The word "play" was used 100 times. Talking about Social and Esports is not for me. 30 minutes on any game is a bit much even if it is star wars. GameChangers...I could go on. They should not do a conference. Just give Sony and Microsoft the trailers as some of the games looked good. I am glad I did not watch this live as I scrubbed through parts.

Microsoft last year was actually not too bad if you listened to the last podcast. Sony got the conference right for me last year. Before that I was hoping everyone went the Nintendo Direct route as pre-recording obviously gets rid of any awkward or dull moments.

Pretty good improvement compared to last year. Even if I only enjoyed 2 of the games they showed it was still entertaining. I'm not interested in sports or car games but I thought the sport games showcases were pretty good (except NBA Live 18, thought that was pretty lackluster). Wasn't impressed at all with Need For Speed, mainly because wow that was a lot of slow mo. A Way Out looks fantastic and I would be so much more excited if I had one person in mind to specifically play it with, and Battlefront II looks like the EA Battlefront game I wanted (Clones! Has both armour phases!). If I had to give the arbitrary number rating: 6/10.

Don't get me wrong, I love EZA, but I feel like they're way too positive on EA's conference.. They legitimately had 2 games that surprised anyone of us (A Way Out & Anthem), the rest is all "Easy Money Projects" (Games they have at the conference only because they make a lot of money every year even though they pretty much have nothing to show us).. The times when "EA" stood for actual "Electronic Arts" are way past us, this is a company without the guts for taking risks or being able to show me actual passion for video games 3/10, excited for A Way Out

I think the press conference had a better flow overall and they definitely did some things a lot better but saying it was good is kind of pushing it. It still had wayyyyy too much talking and reiterating the same points over and over again. The only exciting thing to me personally was A way out, which was amazing, developer talking and all but I wasn't really feeling anything else (Anthem has me curious but was just a teaser for tomorrow) at the end of the day isn't that what should really drive a press conferences score? Sony has honestly just changed the game, I think anyone doing the old school awkward guy forced to read off a teleprompter thing for more then a couple minutes just immediately kills it for me now, we know theirs a better way. Sure they took some steps in that direction but overall it still felt forced and overall mediocre. I think your going to see that e3 as a whole is going to be heading more and more in that direction because the reactions Sony has gotten the last 2 years cannot be ignored. Even though EA took some pointers themselves I still think by the end of e3 they are going to be at the bottom just like last year. Those scores are going to be changing baby, at least I hope so. I don't want to bring down the e3 vibes and be negative but I just have a desire to vent about it.. so heres some specifics. Now even though I'm pretty hyped for Battlefront 2 what they showed was drawn out and done kind of poorly. I'm excited about that game but for whatever reason I didn't really get sucked in during the conference. I think the new game play elements and just MORE Star Wars stuff in general sounds great but the story and new heroes are the real show stoppers and they hardly focused on either of them. That actress did a very good job but once again she spoke for way too long and didn't really say much other than reiterating a handful of things over and over again. It felt like she was talking to a class of pre-schoolers, with her just saying free and other buzz words to get our attention, if you think about it kind of like how EA's games treat their players? I think the live match could of been cool but it was so all over the place with the jump cuts that I never felt like I got to take any of it in and appreciate it. Still excited regardless but not a great showing, I hope we get some more at Sony. So, Need for Speed Payback. I have some faith that Need for Speed will end up being a decent/good game but that trailer was pretty bad. Just the way the guy talking, the in game hud, npc dialog multiple times, etc. told the player to "head towards that truck" over and over again was god awful, add in the constant interruption of your driving like blood said and were off to a bad start. I think you guys were more getting excited about the idea's behind the game, the fun destruction element, the thoughts of fast and the furious like set pieces, I get it but If you take a second and just think about what they actually showed it was kind of a let down. Really? they just drive up to the truck and we get a janky jump onto a bizarre ladder and thats it? That's the heist? I mean I'm over simplifying it but I was honestly disappointed. Lastly the idea of these huge decades-long sports game franchises integrating serious story modes is actually pretty intriguing to me. I might even give one a try sometime if they are received well enough but it's still not at the level of getting me excited. Somewhat interested in how they will play out? Sure, but not excited. I'm open to the idea of one of these story modes being enough to keep me invested in one of these games long enough to play through it but I have a pretty half hearted interest, more of just a curiosity even. To wrap things up I actually think last years EA conference was kind of a perfect expression of the things wrong with the industry as a whole and a good example of how these events are an excellent way to gauge how in touch these companies are with what we want. All the joy and excitement was sucked dry with a literal checklist (similar to way points or hand holding in triple A games} of the entire line up they had for the show. Banners scrolling at the bottom of the screen announcing the next reveal before they even revealed it! They were so far out of touch with what makes these events and games in general special that it was depressing to even watch. So i understand the excitement that they were improved in a lot of ways, you could say that gives new hope to gaming in general. That these companies aren't immune to criticism and can learn from us that they aren't doing things the way we wish they would. It's also the first day of e3 and the EZA excitement and love is strong, these are all good reasons to score that press conference a little on the high side in my opinion but i guess only time will tell. That being said I would totally take the bet that at the very least Kyle will lower his score by the end of e3.

This might be a unpopular opinion, but I really hate that the conference is in that little window and you guys take up the entire screen. I'd love to watch your commentary, but it makes watching the actual conference when it is actually happening almost impossible. I really don't get why you have it set up that way.

I'm sure last year they explained that the conference screen can't be larger or they risk getting the video pulled.

You can't please everyone. This has been brought up before, since they've done this a lot by now, and the majority wants it like that. The entire point of the stream is them being the focus point. For the people interested in the conference, there are ways to get it in better quality if they need to. The small screen is still big enough to see what's going on, if you're like me and watch on a TV at least. Also, trying to give something equal size doesn't work in a square window. There will be overlapping boxes or there will be a lot of wasted space on screen. There are ways that work fine in making the conference big and them small, but that woukld require a green screen and extra setup. Not saying it's not impossible or something they couldn't have done, but it's not their focus.

I'm being selfish? Really? Two things: 1. The allies have done streams of conferences before where the conference was a decent size where you could see both what the actual conference is and what their reactions were. Look at their Nintendo Switch conference to get a idea what I am talking about. 2. Pretty much every other streamer either put their own personal video feed at the bottom or didn't even have a feed/had voice over and it works fine. Hell, go look at how giantbomb did it yesterday. You could still see the conference and they were at the bottom of the screen to see their reactions. I know the allies can choose whatever way of doing it, but it makes actually watching the conference hard to do. Please put your fanboyism aside for one second and actually think.

They should copy Giant Bomb's stream. Giantbomb stream they make the conference screen full screen whenever its in game live demo or whatever. Because at that point the game is more important and most of the table is just silently watching. Anyway I think theyshould make the panel smaller and make the conference in the middle. Either way its still good since you can watch the trailers/conference on its own if you missed something.

Loved the coverage, you guys made this lackluster, overly wordy, buzz word packed conference entertaining. However, your level of attire perplexes me. Easy Allies seems like the place to go when you want to relax and hang out with some long time friends, and the suits gives off an exact opposite vibe (to my wife and I anyway). There are ways to keep it pro and classy without going full formal. Besides, you guys have to be burning up in those suits, which will probably cut into your endurance as the show continues.

I think it is out of respect to e3. Sort of like hey its a special occasion! I find it charming that for everything else they don't wear casual but this one time of the year, they do themselves up for the big show.

I agree, just think that going full on suit is too much. Business Casual would be more professional without being over the top about it. That's my feeling anyway. In the end, we're talking about video games, it's really not that serious =)
