Breakfast wraps!! I’m allergic to oats, so my daily breakfast is a gluten-free tortilla spread with hummus and 1/4 mashed avocado, topped with a pile of whatever vegs I have on hand - and my ‘secret’ is a few Vlasic Zesty Bread & Butter pickles! A little fruit on the side, and it holds me for hours with steady energy. It’s also what I take in a little cooler when I’m out on errands or appts for the day since I live an hour from everything - even running out for groceries takes a freaking half day… 😂 And I’m with you on the soup! I keep a few large cans of black beans in the pantry at all times - heat with some salsa and smooth it out with an immersion blender - quick, easy, filling soup in minutes and just add a salad for an amazing meal!

@@showmemovegan Thx! I think that’s why I love your stuff, too - simple, healthy and tasty is my speed now! 😆 I’ve spent a lot of years cooking all sorts of things, but I also spent years (over)eating as well - sugar and fat were my thing, but finally switched to plant-based due to a health crises and now I don’t crave all that sweet, fatty, heavy food. That’s the only reason I didn’t chime in about the cake - finally got rid of my taste for it and don’t trust myself to start again, esp with the ‘excuse’ to myself that it’s healthy. It’s my Achilles heel! lol

@@leapintothewild I get that! I still eat desserts, but don't bake too often. Anything I do make is usually not very sweet because I can't handle the sickly sweet stuff anymore! But whenever I do make something I can easily eat the whole thing in one or two days! So I understand having to know yourself and what you can allow. I had to stop getting nut butters because I can't stop eating it if it's in the house!

I would love to see your cake recipes once it cools down. It's been pretty hot here in Northern California but I absolutely love it.

I am not totally oil free (close), and use the tiniest bit of sesame oil in my stir fries. Even without it, the stir fries are yummy. Right now, I'm using yellow squash in mine and it's so good. I'd love to see your cake recipes!
@leapintothewild7 ай бұрын
I’m the same - just a teeny bit of vegan butter (oil) sometimes on fresh green peas or corn, and sesame oil like you said - so much flavor in just a few drops, esp if i need to shop and have to use mostly froz vegs.

I used to eat a lot of plant based indian foods. I no longer use can coconut milk but miss it terribly. Do you, by chance, ever use can coconut milk?
@showmemovegan7 ай бұрын
I don't personally use coconut milk anymore. But if you are familiar with the Well Your World channel, they have made a coconut milk substitute using plain shredded coconut blended with a lower fat plant based milk. I haven't tried it yet, but want to. Here's their curry recipe using this "cocunut milk hack" wellyourworld.com/blogs/youtube-videos/mushroom-kidney-bean-curry?_pos=1&_sid=a77c8fd97&_ss=r

Hi! Thanks for the comment and I'm glad you're sticking with it as well as you can. We all can only do our best, so keep it up! Dairy is often the most difficult thing for people to give up because it is addictive. If that's what's you're struggling with I highly recommend Dr. Neal Barnard's book "The Cheese Trap." It is a fantastic and informative book.
