Eastenders - Pete Beale and Arthur Fowler play Burnin' Rubber on the Amstrad GX4000 - 25th Dec 1992

Excerpt from episode no. 824, broadcast on Christmas day 1992.
Burnin' Rubber - developed by Ocean Software - was the pack-in game that accompanied the Amstrad GX4000 games console upon release in September 1990.
A bundle bought by Pete as a Christmas present for Arthur's son, Martin, yet I haven't found an episode in which he's shown playing it. Maybe this aptly demonstrates the pointlessness of the machine; essentially a re-hash of the Amstrad CPC minus the keyboard.

I remember being impressed with the futuristic, compact design and convenience of its cartridges. Shame it made no sense otherwise, largely because it was released too late and was underpowered in comparison to the competition of the time. I'd still have one as an ornament on the mantle piece for nostalgia's sake.

You mean the Commodore 64 GS? That would be the equivalent of Amstrad's keyboardless offering. Also sadly a bit of a flop for predictable reasons. Not that we should underestimate gamers' desire to take the next media format leap away from cassettes at the time.
