You know, from a historical context it makes a certain kind of sense why the Russians don't like to play ball with the European powers. Their entire history has been filled with Europeans making undercut plays to halt Russian ambition. Not that I blame the European powers, Russia's a terrifying beast to behold, and in a region that's hard to access and influence.

Why were the ottomans beatten back time and time again? Was the janissaries resistance to military reform the main cause?

+Milste Who said the Turks recognized us before 1878?
@HistoryandOtherStuffwithBV6 жыл бұрын
+Milste I just said we were independent. Just because we were, doesn't mean that the country we declared independence from recognized us. Just look at, for example, the 11 so-called "other countries" today: Northern Cyprus, Kosovo, Transnistria, Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Artsakh, Taiwan, Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, Somaliland, Niue, Cook Islands. They aren't recognized as independent by Cyprus, Serbia, Moldova, Georgia, Azerbaijan, China, Morocco, Somalia, New Zealand, now are they?

Nick Gray I agree with you on that point, I'm just in pointing out that the title advertises 3 minutes but you get 5 minutes instead. It like a packet says it contains 10 biscuits but actually has 15, inside of it, I mean it's not a bad thing but it's not what the packet advertises. But hey ho iv dawdled on about this arguably insignificant point let's just enjoys this guy's work shall we?
